Possible Attraction in France pavilion (Epcot) Update - new Attraction Greenlit

For those of you who have rode the Paris rat version, is it any good? Mediocre? Solid?

It's a popular ride that always has long lines.

I don't think it's anything amazing and isn't the best use of the trackless technology ever, personally I rarely ride it because I don't think it's worth the wait in line that it draws in Paris, but the fact that it draws such a line must at least indicate that it is a popular and worthwhile attraction.

I love the ride. Think of it as Spider-Man light. Again, not surprised. The R&D is already done and this is a great fit. Remy is already prominent at the pavilion in many forms so I imagine he'll blend right in very nicely.

Side note: Did anyone run the 10k at wine and dine last year? It was ratatouille themed and running the world showcase to the music from movie was awesome.

Thank you - the major complaint I've seen online is that they rely to heavily on screens. Sounds like you feel as if it has a nice balance then.

I mean it is still a screen focused ride, and some of the show rooms are just one giant screen, but what I like most about the ride is repeat viewings. You always spot a new bit of the physical set you haven't noticed before (in the Refrigerator, The wheels of the dining trolley, the underneath of the oven - which blasts out heat, the rat's eyes as you go through the walls of the kitchen). I think they mix the two well, but again just my opinion.

I agree with that wholeheartedly. It also has a large capacity, so I would suspect if the park is open late it will be walk on at Epcot (after the initial opening buzz).

It is a very good ride, but I do prefer Spider-Man. The vehicle does have different movements too ex. Rat tapping his feet, tilts forward, but it is no way a thrill ride at all so expect it to be most like an ultra high tech version of Winnie the Pooh. It would suck at Universal as there are too many screen rides, but it should work at a Disney park. Even though EPCOT has tons of screen rides... since most of them are outdated it still would make EPCOT have a good lineup from the non-dated attractions.

Also the way the screens mesh with the vehicles and sets is far superior to Escape From Gringotts in that sense.

It does need some more props/sets, and I think if it would come to Florida they would add some.

I'm purely speculating, but given who Bob Iger is, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see pressure to add the newest global phenomenon (not necessarily a 10-year old, modestly-successful in America film) to the parks ASAP. Here we have a reasonable location that could fit a readily-available new ride concept. Iger wouldn't care that it's pricier. UK doesn't REALLY need its B-ticket anyway, right?

Assuming you are talking about the B&tB Rat Fiasco, I would still be a bit shocked if they went the Beauty route, as like you said, it is quite a bit more expensive. (Also the whole Beauty E-Ticket in a different park than its land which the ups don't care about) But, at the same time I doubt the extra cost would be enough to cut UK's ride, as it is relatively inexpensive (at least the likely version). It will be interesting to see what happens with B&tB with its (large) newfound success.

That sucks. I want my 8 minute extravaganza... :(
I'd still think the box office for the new film is going to make the Bob squad salivate at the chance for an attraction. I'm actually betting against rat for that very reason. I just don't see that idea out living batb especially now that it's back on the up and up.

They are definitely going to want BatB better-represented in the parks than an ancient musical, restaurant, and M&G with cardboard cutouts. Of course, we all know New Fantasyland should've had a BatB ride to begin with.

Absolutely. That, or a bunch of updates and marleting pushes for pre-existing attractions.
I fear updating the ancient musical with new costumes and set design is not nearly enough for a film that will likely make more in the USA and Canada in one week (maybe as few as 5 days) than Ratatouille made during its entire theatrical run 10 years ago.

Which option is more marketable to get guests in Epcot when there isn't a booze festival going on?

I def hope the go for Rat versus BatB. I always love to see Disney pursue different titles for ride concepts rather than repeating experiences for some of their most popular. As has been said before, BatB has more than enough representation in the parks already. Time for the Rat to shine =)

Cannot wait to experience this ride. Here's hoping they announce something soon!

I know Be Our Guest is popular, but how hard would it really be to redress that section of the park to another movie?

Not that I disagree with the idea that Disney would be fine with BatB stuff in more that one park... since it already is.
