Just upgraded my resort (for no extra charge, thanks to the free dining plan!) We will now be staying at POFQ (instead of POP century)
So I was wondering what you all thought of French Quarter. What are the best things about it? What things bug you? I hear it's romantic, are the carriage rides worth it? thanks for any tips you can give!!

Victoria

Not old, just vintage.
Victoria covered it all. :) Only one thing. We LOVE breakfast at Boatwrights. We've usually had ADR's, but I don't believe you'd have a problem getting in without them.

I didn't hate the breakfast at Boatwrights, I just wasn't that impressed I guess. Then again I am not really into sit down breakfasts...I am a grab and go kind of girl so I guess you can't go by me.

The beignets are awesome. Big and messy but so yummy. POFQ is the perfect place for an affordable honeymoon. Be sure when you check in to let them know you just got married and pick up "Just Married" buttons at Guest Relations in any of the parks. You will get plenty of special surprises that way!

I think it's the best Moderate Resort. It has the charm and beauty of the New Orleans but without the smell of urine. Make sure to try the beignets and take the ferry to DTD. I think the carriage ride would be quite fun.

I love how quiet the resort was at night. It was so nice to pass through the enclosed fountain area in the lobby and head out on to the paths leading back to the buildings. We stayed in Bldg. 1 which was on the farthest end, facing the river. It seemed like a trek when we were REALLY tried, but it was *such* a nice stroll!

Add my vote to having the beignets for breakfast! So good! And having a bus only for POFQ after park closing is such a plus. The boat ride to DtD is so worth it and a great diversion if you've had enough of hopping on and off buses. Though, I always got mildly creeped out when we sailed past the Treehouse Villas at night. :lookaroun

All in all, I think POFQ is our favorite moderate resort...we will *so* stay there again!

Great thread....I am going to be at FQ 9/16-9/22 this will be my first time at a moderate. I have only stayed at ______. I cant wait..I was having a problem justifying the extra $$ for the upgrade. But it sounds like the lack of noise and crowd will be worth it.

French Quarter seemed nice

We stayed at POR last June, but we visited POFQ during our stay.
They have a well-themed Mardi Gras food court & a pool w/ a dragon slide.
The boat ride from POFQ to DD is great!

This is our least favorite. We found it to be very noisy. Impersonal. We also had a problem with a lost item. We waited for over an hour for an item, that they kept saying was being brought RIGHT over. I would have preferred they mailed it me as we almost missed our plane because of it. Also, while at the pool, a kid has his arm broken on the slide. The paramedic said to the life guard they were just there a few days before. And the LG replied that it happens all the time. We prefer Riverside, although we'll never stop thinking of it as Dixie Landing. Love Boatwrights there.

Great Theme

It's a beautiful hotel, and being from New Orleans, I can vouch for the appearance. It kind of looks like a clean up version of the French Quarter, but it lacks the old restuarants and museums. Overall, it's a great hotel and I'd love to stay there again.

We stayed at POFQ at Christmastime. It was beautiful. We had a very quite room on the first floor that was very close to the main building. We enjoyed the resort very much. We also took the carriage ride and would do it again without question.

Hope you enjoy your stay.
