POR or POFQ?

Just wondering which you like better? I'm still trying to decide between value and moderate, although I'd really like to stay at the wilderness but can't really afford it this time around. We have no children coming along, just my bf & I.

thanks

Personally, I prefer POR. The rooms aren't packed as close together so I've always found it to be more relaxing. POFQ does have the advantage of beignets in the food court, so that's always worth a drive over. They're both wonderful resorts though, so I don't think you can go wrong with either of them.

I have only stayed at POFQ, but have been through both of them extensively. I like the size of FQ. It is small so you are never far from the pool, food court, or bus stop. Both are beautiful though so whichever you choose will be a good experience.

I've stayed at both properties and they both are really great. As far as my personal preference I do like French Quarter a smidge better for the reasons previously stated - it's a small property so everything is close, and when last I stayed there it was first for the bus stop so seats were never a problem! ;)

Close second would be POR, Bayou section because it felt very private due to the room layout. I didn't like the manor rooms at all - reminded me too much of an off property motel. :hurl:

We've stayed at both. Personally, we like FQ better. FQ was a bit quieter. We had a ground floor room that was nice. There is also a bit less walking at FQ.

Enjoy your stay.

We have only stayed at POR (we really liked it).
We did visit POFQ & it was nice too.
In my opinion, POR was better for families & POFQ was better for couples.
This is just from my experience.

Stayed at POR and visited POFQ three times each. I prefer staying at Riverside just because of the atmosphere, which I rate as the second best overall at WDW (Poly is #1). I do travel with my wife and 3 kids, so FQ may be better for couples, I don't know...

Stayed at Port Orleans, when they were Port Orleans and Dixie Landings. If you wanna be surrounded by a lot of colors when you wake up, and an cool pool with a cool looking slide I suggest French Quarter. However I haven't been there in years, so I don't remember too much more about it.

Meh, I think Riverside has better ambience, nicer grounds, better for scenic walking and smooching, though you wouldn't have to put a gun to my head to make me stay at FQ.

I have stayed in both, I love POR. The resort is more spacious and just has an overall relaxing feel. Alligator Bayou is located close to buses and the food court. We (no kids) prefer Magnolia Bend, a bit more out of the way but, tends to have a kind of romantic southern bell feel to it. Enjoy!

I think it also depends a lot on your own personal style and taste, which resort will appeal to you. Since the rooms are essentially the same size and shape and have the same amenities, and share the same basic location, I think it really comes down to which style of Southern charm you prefer.

I've never stayed at either, but on our last trip we took a long look around at both properties and found them both very nice, but we'd still choose French Quarter over Riverside because the New Orleans style appeals to us more.

I think whichever one you choose you'll be pleased, since they are very nice and well themed.

Personally, I prefer Riverside. It's much quieter and the walks along the river are VERY romantic...especially at sunset. I hope you and your bf have a magical time.:sohappy:

Por

We have stayed at POR 4 times and have always loved it. We have visited the others but always end up back at POR. We went there for our honeymoon, and like others, thought the mansions were very romantic and beautiful. I think there are less kids in the mansions too in our opinion! We like POR for its more muted color pallette also. Hope that helps and have a great time:wave:

If

IF your staying at Riverside keep in mind there are two sections. Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend. One is rustic the other isnt. I've been reading this thread in particular bec Im staying at Riverside for my first time...its always good to know what other people think. Also, I would suggest you pull up a grounds map and look at it. Theres a big difference on the spread. It doesn't hurt to know what you would like at time of reservations.
