Pop Century Hotel

Has anybody stayed there before? Is it nice? I changed hotels today from the All Star Music to the Pop Century so my party of 5 can get the free Dining Plan! At the All Star Music we were in a 2 room family suite but here we had to change into 2 rooms hopefully adjoining like we requested. So I have never stayed here before what is it like? If anybody has any answers please post them here.

I have stayed there before and am staying there again this coming August! I really like it there! I have stayed at all the Value resorts and find POP to be the best. It is the most up to date of them all and it has it's own bus system to and from the parks. The resort is huge so make sure you request a room close to Classic Hall. Hipp Dippy pool is a lot of fun for the kids. There are also ping pong table around the pool that my DS loves!

The only down side to this resort that I find is that the bus stops for POP at all the parks are literally the furthest away for the park entance and the lines at park closed especially at MK can be quite long! But then again I think the pros out way the cons in my opinion

Not much different than the other value resorts. Very bright theming & big. I enjoyed it the last time I visited there.

I don't understand the free dining though. Usually if it is offered at one value resort it is offered for all.

It's possible the offer was booked up at ASMusic, but Pop still had availability.

I absolutely love Pop Century, but it's really not that different from the other value resorts. Just a different theme, and it's bigger. I do love the food court at Pop, and I find the theming very fun.

No POP lovers here on this board....:lookaroun, or POFQ, or PORS....:lookaroun. I am sure you will get many responses from people who love the place, it is the next best thing since sliced bread. :animwink:

Seriously, it is a fun place to stay. Have a good trip!

Pop is our favorite Value (although we have never stayed at ASMovies). For me I think it is the little touches....the soundtrack on the bus ride back to the resort...the music played in the QS restaurant when we've stayed there in OCT (stuff like Werewolves of London, Bad Moon Rising, that sort of stuff), the dinner specials that are served in a TV Dinner tray.

We have stayed here twice & really enjoyed it.
POP has its own buses, so that makes for more convienient transportation.
If you want to pay a little extra, POR (a moderate resort) sleeps 5 people to one room.
We have stayed there twice & have loved it!
POP is themed in different decade sections (50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, & 90's).
We stayed in the 50's section each time - it seemed a little more quiet.
There is a pool in the 50's section, one in the 60's & 70's section, & one in the 80's & 90's section.
The busiest pool tends to be the one in the 60's & 70's section.
The lobby is not too far away from any of the buildings.
The food court is usually pretty busy & loud too - but they have good desserts.
We really enjoyed staying at POP.

We stayed there and liked it. It is bigger than any of the single All Stars. Not sharing a bus is nice but I am sure that will change once Art of Animation opens up.

We have stayed at POP. It was nice. Our room was right next to the lobby and that was fantastic. We requested adjoining rooms and got them. We have stayed at AS Music and AS Movies and in my opinion POP is nicer. Especially the bus situation. It is difficult with the All Stars especially if you are in Movies. If you are standing you have to get off the bus at Sports to let those people out...sometimes it is only a few...then get back on and then off again at Music and finally you arrive at your hotel. As someone else mentioned Port Orleans Riverside offers rooms that sleep 5. We have stayed there and LOVED it.

We have stayed at POP a couple of times...all of the moderates...... and All Star Music. One of the things that I noticed was first off the all stars share buses which stinks, but also there seemed to be a lot of unsupervised groups of teens and tweens at the All Stars... not so much at POP. Have fun we enjoyed POP when we stayed there. I don't mind the walking, we are a pretty active family. I think when you go to Disney you have to figure you will be walking your legs off :)):p

How did you get free dining? Was it a pin code or when they extended it until December 21st? I am a Disney Visa holder and the offer has not been given to us yet?

I was wondering the same thing. I even called to see if they had free dining out again for my time period but I was told no. We are not Disney Visa holders. I know that they had it and it ended in December but a girl can hope. :D

Just got back from our 4th stay at Pop Century last week and absolutely LOVED it again!!! We got to stay in the 50's section again (my favourite now) on the fourth floor facing the pool and I would highly recommend this section. Not only is the bowling pin pool very cool and not very crowded, the whole section just seems to be a bit quieter (as ThinkTink721 said).

Also, the food court has an awesome menu that kept my family of four (two teenagers) satisfied every night we ate there (probably 7 nights out of our 10 day trip). And we didn't find it too busy most nights, although we were coming back from the parks and eating between 4pm and 6pm most nights before heading back to the parks (and this was during Canadian Spring Break...very busy down there)! The Everything Pop store is also very cool and always well stocked with a great selection of merchandise and goodies. And like everyone else has said, the buses are probably THE best onsite, even though the stops for the ride back ARE way out at the end usually in most of the parks.

I honestly can't think of anything about Pop my family doesn't like and would stay there a fifth time in a heart beat!!!

EDIT: Not sure how important this fact is, but if you want two rooms that are side by side with the door in between, I think you have to request connecting rooms rather than adjoining. I know the first time we requested adjoining rooms, we were given rooms on the same hall, but down the hall from each other. We were told at the front desk to ask for connecting rooms the next time, which we subsequently did each trip afterwards.
