Pools are too strict on balls

Beach balls only is boring. But they treat you like a priority one health hazard if you dare bring a soft "pre-inflated" ball into the pool. I could understand and support not wanting hard balls (like tennis balls), because no-one wants to get hit with one of those by accident, but I've never stayed anywhere else that had a problem with soft balls.
Oh, those balls

I imagine this rule has come from bad experience, like every other rule. The reality is that people don't know how to behave. They act like they own the pool and cause issues for others. We have to remember that all ages are in the pools. There is no need for a rowdy group of teens acting like fools throwing the ball around. And we all know what I am talking about.

There we go again - blaming the teens -- but then again -- that is usually the problem. Or am I generalizing too much?

But it is the issue. It starts with a friendly game of toss the ball, then it morphs into a bit more rough housing. The kids are just being kids, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't cause issues for others. I am not saying that teens are bad, just that the mixed use pools are not the place for that. People have their babies and toddlers in the pools, they don't need to be put in danger because some bigger person accidently lands on them trying to catch the ball.
Denying reality and what we all know to be true doesn't change the reality.

I think many of these rules come down to how they can be litigated. The property will hold more responsibility if it is something they allow.

You can actually have a beverage of your choice at the pool edge and even while in the pool!
Not to bump an old thread, but for whatever reason this popped up in my mind. You can’t have any beverage in the pool, but I believe you can now have a clear commercially bottled water next to the pool and on the pool edge (even if you’re in the pool but the drink is near the edge I think) at all the Disney resort pools! Never seen this in action, so your mileage may vary, but I found it interesting.

New Flash: no one wants to get hit with ANY ball.

OP is obviously not good at respecting others and imagines that unless a fist-fight occurs, everyone else is perfectly happy with taking his balls to their face.

OP needs to stop making others uncomfortable and understand how a pool with hundreds of others needs to function but I imagine this is neither the first nor the last time he’s ignored the preferences of others.

Allow pool horseplay by guests wearing a wristband indicating they have paid the "cocktail upending deposit". Victims will be reimbursed from the deposits (including tip). Everyone's happy, except I guess those that don't like balls in their face.

Cocktail sales will skyrocket, are you paying attention Disney? No, I suppose not.
