Pools are too strict on balls

Beach balls only is boring. But they treat you like a priority one health hazard if you dare bring a soft "pre-inflated" ball into the pool. I could understand and support not wanting hard balls (like tennis balls), because no-one wants to get hit with one of those by accident, but I've never stayed anywhere else that had a problem with soft balls.
Oh, those balls

I imagine this rule has come from bad experience, like every other rule. The reality is that people don't know how to behave. They act like they own the pool and cause issues for others. We have to remember that all ages are in the pools. There is no need for a rowdy group of teens acting like fools throwing the ball around. And we all know what I am talking about.

There we go again - blaming the teens -- but then again -- that is usually the problem. Or am I generalizing too much?

But it is the issue. It starts with a friendly game of toss the ball, then it morphs into a bit more rough housing. The kids are just being kids, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't cause issues for others. I am not saying that teens are bad, just that the mixed use pools are not the place for that. People have their babies and toddlers in the pools, they don't need to be put in danger because some bigger person accidently lands on them trying to catch the ball.
Denying reality and what we all know to be true doesn't change the reality.

I think many of these rules come down to how they can be litigated. The property will hold more responsibility if it is something they allow.
