Ponchos really????

We were in the AK today and we rode the Kali River Rapids twice. The stranget site I saw all day were the MANY people wearing ponchos to ride it. Am I missing something? First, I didn't get all that wet, yes I got wet but ponchos???? Isn't the point of this ride TO get wet? These people probably wear sunscreen at night! I am baffled.

Yes, you can get very wet and usually it is me. HA! HA! I've gotten wet with a poncho. My son and his wife got so wet one year in Dec. they had to go buy clothes at the park.

Got soaked on cali two weeks ago. It was great because it was hot. Fun, fun, fun. 20 minutes later while eating at Rain Forest Cafe with the air conditioning blowing full blast, not so fun. Haha. We almost froze. Haha

I got soaked - like I jumped in a pool with my clothes on. So did my daughter. My husband and my dad were dry as a bone. It was December and I too had to buy clothes - a really cute black sundress with leopard print Mickeys on it. I thank Kali River Rapids every time I wear my favorite souvenir. ;)

I wear a poncho too because I don't like to get drenched. I even wear or at least put the poncho across my lap on Splash Mt. I hate walking around in wet shorts. I would say squishy shoes too but I'm usually wearing my flip flops so my feet dry fast anyway. But typically I don't go on Kali anymore, it is so short that it really isn't worth the time.

OMG, I remember a few years back, all of us were sitting in the Rainforest with teeth chattering it was so cold. Not the place to be when a little wet.

See it all the time. I don't understand considering that it's hot out. It's a nice way to cool off. Usually the side with the heavier people get wet the most.

OP, I'm surprised you didn't notice people getting wet. It happens to someone on every ride. Like a PP said, you can get as wet as if you had jumped in a pool.

When it is humid, you don't dry quickly. You can walk around for hours, still all wet and squishy. It is not comfortable at all. The wetness doesn't make you cooler. It just makes you wetter and your clothing less breathable.

When it is cold, you freeze.

Unless it is a warm AND dry day, it's no fun at all to be in the parks all wet.

I haven't been on it yet, but have seen plenty of videos where everyone got soaked, so I'm definitely bringing a poncho on our next trip when I go on.

I dont ride Kali for the simple fact I dont want to walk around soaked in Florida Humidity at all. Now if it were Arizona heat where you would dry off in 20 minutes or so, not a problem.....
