It seems kind of wierd that a death happen again on the same ride. Not to mention the many people complaining about headaches after they got off .This ride in my opinion needs to get scrapped or chnaged or something .I don't think they should ignorwe these problems .

The 1st time I rode Mission Space, it was cool. The next time it was OK. Since then, it's a little boring and now that the excitment is gone, I notice that I am more likely to get quesy on the thing.

I voted no because to be honest, I have skipped it the last two times at EPCOT anyway. Granted, at Christmas, the lines were pretty long everywhere but I just don't get too excited about this ride. My kids still like it a little but not enough to wait more than 20 minutes or so. There is a reason Test Track wait times are longer than Mission Space wait times. Test Track is a better ride.

I would be disappointed if it closed. Anyways...the press here said "Ride at Disney World takes another life...bleh bleh bleh bleh" I ignored it.. It wasnt the rides fault!!!!!1

absolutly yes keep it, M:S is probably 1 of the best rides ive been on to date, bar none, and if disney took it out think about how costly, not just the money side but the attendance.mission space is 1 of the biggest draws in WDW,at the moment each disney has 1 maybe 2 major draws, that i think is what balances out all the crowds between the parks.MK has the 3 mountains, MGM has RnRC and ToT,AK has killamanjaro sufaris and now EE and epcot has test trak, soarin and M:S, take M:S away and the crowds will increase in the other parks.epcot is about innovation and new technologies,M:S is the appifasny of new ride concepts and new ride technology, sure there is EE but strip it of the yeti and its visual effects and its still just a roller coaster.(not sayin EE isnt a good ride, it looks awsome but M:S is something never seen before. i say keep it, it is a classic and deserves too stay a classic for years to come

Maybe the repeat value is not as much as Test Track by many, but there are way more people that come to Disney for their first time every year, that is why M:S still considered to be quite popular as far as I am concerned. So the repeat value is only important for frequent vistors. Test Track appeals more group of ages so that it is more popular, I am not sure if it is better.

The ride is okay. I won't be riding it anytime soon. I wouldn't care if they revamped it and made it less intense. However I have plenty to do.

What if you don't know that you had a pre-condition and went on the ride. It's really noones fault if they fall ill.

If you knowing go on a ride with a pre-condition, then they are at their own risk.

And it's offical, almosty 40% of the people taking this poll are morons.

Look, if you dont like a ride because it's "too intense" fine. Just ignor it!! But Disney needed thrill rides! Hence, why they built M:S and EE!

Please, no one cares if you think M:S should be torn down. Do you guys honestly think Disney would do that? They spent a quarter of a billion dollars on that ride!! I HIGHLY doubt they would just tear it down because people dont like it!

 I'm one of the 40% morons that voted no but not for the reasons you believe. I don't think the ride is too intense and I am not advocating that the ride be torn down. Honestly, what is moronic is when people make generalizations and assumptions with little or no thought. The poll was was simple and clear: Would you care if M:S was closed and replaced by another attraction? My response is "No, I wouldn't care". I like the experience for what it is. However, the more I ride it the less thrilling the experience becomes. I will occassionally return to it and will probably ride it on my next trip but it is not a "have to ride" attraction for me. In fact, the last two trips to EPCOT I haven't bothered to get on it.

Now if M:S were replaced by something unworthy, then I would care very much. But it doesn't really matter, in the end, because M:S will remain open for a long time. My wish is like others here, though. I would like to see them "mix up" the ride a bit with multiple destinations or with an occasssional plot line change. I'd probably frequent it more often.

Why are people morons?? Because they don't agree with you? So, let me get this right.. I don't like it and would not be upset if they closed it and replaced it so I am a moron?? I'm offended.... I didn't call the people who voted that they would be upset morons because they do not agree with me. In fact, I would say they aren't morons because they were able to make a decision and not bash someone. You on the other hand freak, are the moron for making that moronic remark.

Hey, everyone on here (well, mostly) is a Disney fan .. we all want the best for Disney.

However, I'm a little concerned and slightly amused by how thin skinned some folks are being when encountering criticism. You're entitled to you opinion, they're entitled to their opinion .. whatever. It's the internet remember -- arguing on the internet is like trying to catch a burp in the wind

I;m going to put this out here for the one or two people I hope listen. I like M:S, but I don't let my father on the ride with his High Blood Pressure, I miss Horizions, and my heart truly goes out to anyone who loses a loved one before their time (I've been there, and it's one of those pains that I would take away from the world if I could). This situation is beyond any of us, and it affects each of us deeply in differnet ways. Jumping to conclusions, espeically when none of us have all of the facts, is only going to lead to more hard feelings between, from what I've seen, is an amazing group of people. My wish for everyone here is that the name calling, flaming back and forth, and that we all take a breather and wait to have a well-thought out and informed conversation about the future of M:S when the time is right.

People, whether we like the ride or not, Disney is not closIng it. I don't like it I choose not to ride... And everyone who doesn't like it should do the same... Those of you that do like it, enjoy it while it is still here.. Heck, enjoy it while you are still here cause you never know when your next ride would be your last... just like any ride in WDW that you enjoy... Cause the ride is here today but could be closed tomorrow...

I think all of the points were already covered in this thread but here is mine anyway...

Disney would never close the ride, the majority of the people that ride it like it, and out of the millions of people that ride it each year, 2 people have died due to POSSIBLY unkown health conditions or just ignored the warnings. and out of the millions of people that ride it each year only a small fraction get ill. its not like there is no other ride in the counrty that people get sick on, but because its DISNEY'S ride, and because they are held to a high standard, AND because Disney is the place where nothing is supposed to go wrong, it is shocking and appaling (sp?).

Mission: Space is without a doubt the best expierance i have ever had on a ride. and I would not be happy if for whatever reason the ride was closed!

I also have a quick question, does it say anything about High Blood Pressure in the ride health warnings?

Because I was just watching the news on abc and they interviewed 2 people who went on mission space and this guy with hbp had to be taken to the hospital. in the interview they said the ride health warnings said nothing warning them about hbp.

I say close it. It's too intense for a disney park.

Then they have the "Disney doesn't have any thrill rides" crowd....but they come up with an innovative thrill ride and it's "too intense".

Go figure....

have you ever actually ridden it? its really not that intense

i'd be disappointed if it closed, there's really no other ride in the world like it (i mean, weightlessness? how cool is that?)

I almost died on it. I am a 27 year old female, in good condition with no medical problems whatsoever. After this ride I had terrible chest pains, crippling diziness and extrememe naseua.

Thats why I get so angry when I hear people saying stupid things like "Heed the warnings" and "read the signs". The bottom line is that no one really knows when they are on the verge of a heart attack or a major embolism. I think it's really irresponsible for Disney to have an attraction that could trigger death.

...and please don't start with the "Well, you could die sunbathing or while eating dinner".. you all know it's not even the same thing. This is a real risk. :brick:

It's that type of thinking that I believe led to the closing of one of my all time faves - ExtraTerrorestrial Alien Encounter.

I think Disney has PLENTY of tame kiddy rides and needs MORE adult thrill rides. If they keep "kidding-down" the rides, then adults who head down will just want to head to Universal. My boyfriend and I are heading down next month and just going to Universal b/c I can't convince him Disney isn't kiddie (and the Universal commercials really play that idea up). Since we're only going for 4 days I'll be happy with Universal and we'll go to Disney when we come back later in the year. But I would like to see Disney cater a little bit more to adults. And don't get me wrong, I LOOOOOOVE Disney, but I don't know if I would be so anxious to go every year if it were just tea cups and Dumbo rides. :snore: :p

This the same as eXterrestrial? Not even close to being the same thing. Alien Encounter was scary but did not TRIGGER DEATH!! There is a big difference.
