I voted no, not because I don't care for the ride (I did enjoy it very much) but because I think they can replace it with something even better - something more akin to Horizons.

Thing is, a lot of money has been invested and I'm sure the life of the ride is set at a certain term .. like 10-15 years or something like that. I would think they would experiment with different levels of g forces before they even think about closing the ride.

Care? Oh, yeah...I'd be quite angry if they took out M:S.
I like it and would only want to see it improved (random destinations, interactive, etc.), not reduced in intensity or altered as a ride experience.

Why should they close an attraction where two people have died?

People die in cars every single day...
but we still use them all the time.

I feel very sorry for the families that lost someone though.

It wouldn't matter to me one way or the other if the ride was removed. The ride makes me sick, so it's not on my list of rides, so whether or not it is there is of no consquence to me. However, this doesn't mean I want to see the ride removed because there are many people who can and do go on it with no problem, I'm just not one of them.

I Strongly Disagree

I say close it. It's too intense for a disney park.

It's that type of thinking that I believe led to the closing of one of my all time faves - ExtraTerrorestrial Alien Encounter.

I think Disney has PLENTY of tame kiddy rides and needs MORE adult thrill rides. If they keep "kidding-down" the rides, then adults who head down will just want to head to Universal. My boyfriend and I are heading down next month and just going to Universal b/c I can't convince him Disney isn't kiddie (and the Universal commercials really play that idea up). Since we're only going for 4 days I'll be happy with Universal and we'll go to Disney when we come back later in the year. But I would like to see Disney cater a little bit more to adults. And don't get me wrong, I LOOOOOOVE Disney, but I don't know if I would be so anxious to go every year if it were just tea cups and Dumbo rides. :snore: :p

I liked the ride but its not something i will go on every tie i head to disney world, if the ride was much longer i would have gotten sick. Just reading and listening to all the warnings about motion sickness almost mad me sick.:hammer:

i wouldnt mind if Test Track were gone cause i went on that and was almost snoring by the end of the ride

but i wouldnt care to the point where i wouldnt go back to disney but i think that if they are going to spend that much on a ride i think it needs to stay for a little while longer but if i never get to ride it again i wouldnt be that upset

I like the feeling I get afterwards... The kind of hard-to-walk-straight feeling.

It's almost like an unnatural high or something. I say keep her.

We Love the ride. Hope it stays open for a long time. There are enough warnings that should keep motion prone folks away. Maybe there needs to be more health warnings.

I thought I was the only one who felt this way. I also don't think it's that intense...(granted I am a child of Cedar Point) I was nervous when I first went on it but it wasn't that bad at all.

Heh... my sentiments exactly, including the CP part.

I think the ride should stay open. I think people need to realize that the warnings they give should be taken seriously. A lot of people have the mentality "it could never happen to me". But it can. Don't brush your health problems to the side because you want to go on a ride.

And it's offical, almosty 40% of the people taking this poll are morons.

Look, if you dont like a ride because it's "too intense" fine. Just ignor it!! But Disney needed thrill rides! Hence, why they built M:S and EE!

Please, no one cares if you think M:S should be torn down. Do you guys honestly think Disney would do that? They spent a quarter of a billion dollars on that ride!! I HIGHLY doubt they would just tear it down because people dont like it!

Actually, just over .1 billion, not a quarter. People are entitled to their opinions, calling them morons isn't fair, all they're saying is they don't care if they removed the ride. That just means, you guessed it, they really don't care...

I, for one, think it's funny that the people who LOVED Horizons don't hesitate AT ALL to say "tear it down" without any regard to the feelings of those who LOVE Mission: Space.

I mean, one group of complainers per plot of land is enough. I don't think I could handle two.

I think they could have choosen a better ride that the centrifuge idea that they use. Watching that little screen and feeling the spinning don't match up in my mind giving me motion sickness. The system just isn't good enough to trick enough people's minds into thinking that they are in a shuttle launching.

I believe that they should have looked at something more like a vertical Rockin Rollercoaster (same ride system) or something like "Top Thrill Dragster" from Cedar Point (largest rollercoaster park in the world I think) to actually launch you vertically. To make the "Launch" a little longer and reduce the size of the building they could have dug into the ground and started the coaster down there, make you walk past the "Rocket cones" of a space shuttle and "board" the craft from an entrance on the bottom. Sorry my engineering mind is taking over... ;-)

If one thinks M:S should be closed becasue it is too intense, they will have to close lots of rides. (TOT, RNRC) If one thinks it is a faliure because so small percentage could ride, then dumbo is the most succesful ride they've built. They should keep building dumbos and call the park "Dumbo Kingdom". Besides, I don't think people riding TOT everyday will be a lot more than M:S. They should definetly close TOT following that logic.

Not everyone. I lvoed Horizons, it was my favorite ride as a child,a dn I miss it terribly. But I also have a deep respect for M:S and don't think that the knee jerk reaction to tear it down solves anything. In fact, I for one would hate to see it go.
