Pizza Delivery flyers in your resort room

Pay cash to the delivery person.

We have ordered pizza and wings from a local place that was in the Yellow Pages while staying in Kidani. The delivery person could not go past the lobby so we had to meet them at the front desk. We paid in cash and the food was terrible. Probably will never do that again, but we were tired and wanted to watch some tube and relax and eat dinner.

Exactly!! So far though it sounds like we are zero for two in terms of the quality of delivery food, maybe we are better off going through the resort. I am of Italian heritage and I live in NYC So I rarely order real Italian food expecting to get what I can make at home, so that takes out a great many of these options for me anyhow. Marie

WOW!!! Apparently this is being taken VERY seriously huh?? Good job!!! Marie

Seems like a waste of police resources to actually have a policeman show up at the hotel room.

Just curious what possible investigative work could be accomplished in responding to a 'found a flyer in our room' call?

A few years back,my family and I were coming back from the parks and wanted some pizza. Earlier on in the trip we had found a flyer under our door early one morning. I went down and asked at concierge if it was legit, and the concierge gave this almost disgusted reaction upon seeing the flyer, not to me, it. And then he took it, documented down some notes, and then gave me, it was either a number or a brochure for Flippers. That was at Kidani Village. I guess Flippers is pretty popular among the employees at Disney as some were even offering to buy some of the pizza from me when it arrived. They may have just been humoring me to though

We ordered from there, and quite liked the pizza. On each trip since we've ordered from there without problems. They do have to meet you in the lobby, and I've ordered from them staying at both Kidani and Boardwalk. Being a tourist you sort of have to have faith in food choices, as even "good" places may not agree with some people's appetites. I wasn't aware it was a scam, I just figured it wasn't a great pizza place. Either way we would have paid with cash though.

If you are really tempted to order something from a flyer, and actually do call the number, ask questions about the menu, what else they offer, and location. Usually simple questions are enough to see if it is a scam or not.

This advice applies whether you contact somebody, or if they contact you. When anybody contacts me, that strategy is always in my mind. Usually they hang up on me after the first question.

I have had solicitation calls to my home but in a similar vein. They call saying they represent a particular company. I happened to be familiar with the organization and started questioning them pretty closely. After a few minutes of that, they hung up on me. Guess they didn't want my donation huh?? LOL LOL LOL Marie

I can't believe people fall for these, but every hotel in Orlando suffers from this problem. Some do actually deliver pizza, only you can be sure the delivery won't match your order in any way and will be the worst quality.

After nearly 30 trips, I finally saw these flyers on my trip last month. 3 or 4 nights when we returned to the room, these were under the door. It weirded me out when I realized they weren't for Disney. I just threw them away as I wondered how they managed to be able to do that and not get caught. Never dawned on me that it was a scam, but then again it would never occur to me to have food delivered to my room anyway!

Flippers is a legitimate place. My place of business on disney property orders there more than twice a week. So Flippers is good and they treat Disney like royalty. Plus CMs get a discount there.

Good deal!! Do you want to share their phone number?? We should take care of businesses who look after Cast Members!! Thanks for your input! Marie

The phone number most likely goes to a burner phone. The only way the cops could catch these people would be if they were stupid enough meet the cops somewhere.

If the local cops wanted to catch them they could even with a burner phone. Would only require the police to call the burner number and have their technical folks or the local phone company give them a location of where it was located... they might have to call in several fake orders but it could be done... The reality is it isn't a high priority for the police because in the end the people that get scammed are most likely from out of town or out of the country and will be miles away before they realize they were victimized and so very unlikely to return to report the crime and even less likely to show up for any court appearances to prosecute the criminals.

Exactly so Mich!!! If you want to order pizza to your room in Disney, the resort itself has no problem with that. As I have said, they will give you phone numbers for legitimate businesses in the area, they don't want you using the pizza places advertised on these flyers as they frequently aren't food delivery companies at all. Marie
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the past whenever I ordered out from a resort I always had to go to the front desk to meet the delivery person and pick the food up as Disney wouldn't allow them to bring it to my room... Supposedly it was for security but I suspect it was more to make the process a hassle to entice visitors to order room service instead.

When I order from Flippers, I simply have to be down in the lobby. I don't have to check at the front desk, just wait until you see a pizza delivery person in the lobby, go over, pay for it and pick it up. That's the way I've always done it. A few times I've even met them outside the lobby.

Also, there are multiple locations for Flippers, I think at one point there was one at Crossroads as well, though I'm not sure that's the one you'd necessarily be ordering from. You might have4 to call a few different locations to see which one it is that delivers to your given location, if one does. Also, from what I understand it is a dine in pizzaria, though I've never actually been there. When you order a pizza they usually have a brochure taped to the box.
