Pizza Delivery flyers in your resort room

I can't believe that surveillance cameras don't catch these guys if it is such a well-known problem.

When staying at a hotel and ordering in I'm always on Yelp instead of trusting flyers or even menus the front desk gives out. Just because I'm staying in doesn't mean I don't want good food!
That would require someone to be watching every hallway.

A baseball cap and sunglasses are more than enough to make the footage useless.
It's probably more attributed to cops leaving it up to the credit card companies to deal with the fraud rather than baseball caps and sunglasses. With that logic no bank robber would ever be caught!

Just outlaw solicitation of any kind to guest rooms. If (real) companies wish to advertise, they can feel free to bring their literature to the main lobby.

This way, there will be no wondering whether or not someone walking the floors with advertisements is legit or not. This may help to single out the scam artists.

Have notices on the back of guestroom doors informing guests that due to scams & fraud in the past, no literature is allowed to be distributed to guestrooms, but feel free to contact or visit the lobby for local eateries, delivieries, etc.

I don't know about Disney hotels but I've stayed in a few in the area - Holiday Inn and Marriott spring to mind - where they do have notices on room doors warning you about pizza scams and giving the numbers of legitimate eateries.

Still always got lots of flyers under the doors though!

They just dress normal and have a backpack. Not easy to spot at a big resort.

Or how about having to use your magic band to enter the elevator/stairs? I have been in many hotels where I need to swipe my key to access the elevator.

I know some will 'piggyback' in, but if it stops some, it is worth it.

The simple answer...cost vs reward.

This problem costs Disney nothing. They are not having to refund money to people that are victims of this scam. Warning people about it is IMHO, the extent of their responsibility.

To add all of these different levels of security is not only an inconvenience to guests, but is costs Disney money to implement and maintain them.

Disney would get more complaints about people not being able to get the elevator to work, stair door to open, etc than they have ever gotten about the pizza scam.

The two we had "caught" by security in the last few years both had hats pulled down low and sunglasses on indoors. They walk at a very swift pace and are extremely efficient at sending those things through the door. It is kinda wild to see, best bet get a look at the person and walk to the nearest CM/Front Desk. The second time we had someone busted for it we were in the room when it was put under the door.

I cannot complain about Disney's response to them. They can only do but so much to stop it. When it is running very rampant we have always been alerted at the front desk as well as flyers in the room warning about the scams.

Has anybody viewed scanning your room key to access the elevator an inconvenience? I have always felt that was a nice added touch when staying at resorts that require that, a small sense of added security. If Disney can add RFID to the soda fountains........

Disney may not address it because it is a small amount of people that fall for it, but I believe they do care. I would think that anything that takes away from the 'Magic' of a Disney vacation concerns them for repeat business.

When it works..no. When it doesn't...a resounding yes.

Quite a few negative trip reports mention a door key or magic band not working. Now add them to elevators and watch that number climb.

Let us also not forget that most of Disney's resorts have open hallways. Adding this level of security would do nothing for most of Disney's resorts.

Your right, I guess they can also risk staying one night to gain access and deliver their flyers.

^^This. Elevators are easy to beat anyway at a resort. Wait with the masses, don't get on first.

This would be so easy to stop. You put security at the entrance and turn away any pizza coming from the flyer companies. Simple as that. You think the pizza company would keep paying people to Drop off flyers after they couldn't even serve the order?

Sounds like it is more about the scam than the actual orders. Plus with the transportation system, any guy could waltz in the door with a backpack full of flyers and not draw any attention.
