Pixie Hollow To Replace Swiss Family Treehouse?

but really it's not so much that i want what DLR has (even though they have a fair amount of exclusive things that i'm just a tad bit jealous about :rolleyes: ), it's more like how did DLR come up with that idea and we've been stuck with SFT for decades after its prominence was gone, ya know? like logically Tarzan's Treehouse makes more sense NOW than Swiss Family Treehouse.

Disneyland comes up with the idea for new stuff, and then often gets that new stuff built and operating in the park, for a couple of key reasons as mentioned by Disney executives and senior Imagineers in occasional media interviews, along with conventional fan wisdom;

  1. Demographics. Disneyland sits in the middle of one of the largest megalopolises on the planet, with 20+ Million relatively affluent and sophisticated people living within a 90 minute freeway drive of Disneyland. These locals make up about half of the annual attendance to Disneyland, although their share of the attendance pie is in decline against a growing number of tourists. But locals demand a fresh and relevant park experience. "What's new this year at Disneyland?" the locals say, before deciding to visit or renew their AP.
  2. Location. Disneyland sits about 45 minutes south of Los Angeles and the corporate headquarters for Disney, as well as the headquarters for the Imagineering group. It's easier to get attention from corporate decision makers. It's also harder to sweep problems under the rug and avoid executive scrutiny.
  3. Walt. Disneyland is the only Disney theme park Walt helped design and build and expand. Walt and his family even lived part-time at Disneyland, in his private apartment on Main Street USA. No other Disney park has Walt. No other Disney park ever will. Mess with Disneyland, and you mess with Walt. Don't do that. (Just ask Cynthia Harriss and Paul Pressler. Career Karma for those two.)
All that said... If they suddenly want a Pixie Hollow in Magic Kingdom Park for marketing of their direct-to-DVD fairy franchise, there are a half dozen other garden areas in that park where a Disneyland-style Pixie Hollow could be built. You'd need to create an indoor environment via a show building of some sort, as the outdoor version of Pixie Hollow that Disneyland has will only work about three months out of the year in Orlando's climate. But it can be done in several other areas that fit thematically and keep the Robinson's in their treehouse.

Pixies in the treehouse just seems like a bad idea, if it even is a legit idea that got past a doodle on a cocktail napkin.

Well, based on management's reluctance to do anything that involves spending a buck, They'll do nothing IMO.

They'll fall back on "guest feedback" and say that they dont need to do anything because their (flawed) survey methods say theyre doing everything right.
Whatever keeps them out of the AK. :)

I don't really see why we need pixies, anyway.

I'm kind of surprised the Tree House has lasted as long as it has, with all those stairs it's not very ADA compliant, wasn't that the reason the shut down the 2nd floor of the Imagination pavilion?

Boy, Disney didn't get the message when fans rebelled about the Pixies in New Fantasyland.
Disney is bound and determined to shove those Pixies down our throats, like it or not even if
it means pushing a Pixie into Adventureland and pretending it is a good fit. Brain Freeze.

What an absolutely horrible idea.

I haven't heard that rumor, but rest assured I shall oppose it in the strongest way possible.

THIS!!! There is no way possible to rationalize this as a "good" idea. I as a Jungle Cruise Skipper would truly hate this change. TB has no place in Adventureland, and it is bad enough she has a m/g there. Not that her having a m/g is bad, but it just doesn't belong there.

There are plenty of places on property that aren't ADA compliant. I doubt that was the reason. Certainly not the only one. Primarily I think it was because it was the simplest thing to do at the time. Nothing more, nothing less.
