This is exactly what I have been saying about this ride as well. I absolutely loved Coco and would enjoy a new ride in the Mexico Pavilion. That being said, there is no way that that inside the pyramid they will be able to hold that many people for a new ride. Even if there was the room, I feel like that many people could have an effect on the experience of those trying to eat and the San Angel Inn Restaurant!

When I went last October, the line for 3 Caballeros wrappe all the way to the left side of the pavilion to the lobby.

I rode grand fiesta a couple of nights back and through the whole thing was really dated. From the look of the ride itself, to the filmed sections on the screens, it all looked very “80’s”. I’d be happy with a coco overlay to bring it up to date. Plus the film looked gorgeous, lots of great scenes/art to copy onto the ride.

Totally agreed. Honestly, I find Gran Fiesta one of the cheapest-looking rides on the entire property, and it pales even more when you compare it to other Disney boat rides at WDW and beyond. It might be the worst boat ride at WDW, actually. The story with the Caballeros and Donald doesn't add any value to the ride, there's way too many screens, and the Mexican Small World portion, despite being the best thing about the ride, is ultimately redundant. The execution of the screens is so generic, it's like something you'd see at a Six Flags park, not Disney.

I'm not saying a ride needs to be a technical spectacle to be enjoyable, but please, find one thing that makes GFT better than any other boat ride at WDW. Even Na'vi River Journey was more interesting with the Shaman and some legitimately impressive effects, despite that ride otherwise being a disappointment. A Coco retheme with some actual effort put into it would have done wonders for GFT, if it were happening. Maybe it'll be put back on the table in the future, or with a different IP?

To balance the addition of Rat, they need to add a ride to another pavilion. They need more capacity, not a refurb in my opinion.

While true, I'm more than OK with a Coco overlay. Coco overlay and demo of Dinorama are the only replacements I'm good with at the moment. But yes, we need actual additions. Although they're still supposedly adding Mary. That would be an addition.

I get that argument, but Coco is just such a logical overlay in this case. It's a film that celebrates Mexican culture that is the highest-grossing film of all time in Mexico. If there was ever an IP-driven attraction that could enhance a World Showcase pavilion, it would have to be a Coco ride for Mexico!

I’m not arguing that it really would be a more culturally appropriate ride for the Mexico pavilion, or that it would likely be a huge upgrade as an attraction. After finishing first trip in a couple years (wrapped up last week), I’m convinced they have a massive capacity issue on their hands. They need more attractions to eat crowds in every park. Epcot is in the worst shape by far.

Gran Fiesta is often a walk-on. Updating it so that there's always a half hour queue at least waiting to get on would be people eating.

This statement clearly illustrates the problems that Epcot has and why we're getting a GoTG ride.

Side note, I've never waited in line for it, it's nearly always a walk on for us.

This was during the Food & Wine festival, EPCOT was CRAZY packed never seen it so crowded in my life. It was miserable. When I went in May, it was a walk on at 2:00 pm. Had the boat to ourselves actually. Only 3 of us. So it was a busy day, which could have been the issue.

But I do agree.

During January when I normally go it's Fairly empty when I go on it. However, because of the Festival of the Arts now being a part of that month I actually encountered a full queue including a roped queue on the outside of the ride entrance..

In regards to Japan- while the show building was made for Meet the World, would any further expansion of the pavilion (ie, a ride) require that the building be torn down?
