Does anyone know if paint the night will be leaving again after pixar fest ends again?
Interesting question. It was, with entertainment, such that there would be dark periods during non peak seasons. But now, Disney invents an event for the entire calendar. Anyway, It's basically like now instead of running a parade for several years straight with some dark periods during the year where it goes down, the parade is only run during "Pixar Fest" which is now an annual thing aka it only operates half the year to save costs. The other benefit of this all is by making it a "limited offer" they're baiting people into buying the annual merch.

I imagine Paint the Night is returning... but who knows??

I know it's never been stated that Pixar Fests will happen in the future, I think it's safe to assume Disney will recycle this at least a few times. I have heard it referred to as the "First Ever Pixar Fest" which implies that theory.

There is no end date as of yet for PtN. The fact that is started at the same time as Pixar Fest does not indicate that its going away when Pixar Fest ends. By all accounts by insiders here PtN is here to stay running at DCA. Only time it goes down is with the normal seasonal down times.

So.... I did Pixar Fest. I had a too-big luncheon on Saturday and decided to do my evening HealthWalk at Disneyland. I arrived around 5:30pm and selfishly parked in Downtown Disney, and walked into the Town Square just as the Pixar Play Parade was starting. Yup, it's still the same old circa 2008 Pixar Play Parade but with a few small hokey floats added of a desk lamp and some weird balloons, etc.

Boy do those plywood cutouts they propped up on top of the turnstiles of both parks look cheap and dumb. They really phoned it in on those turnstile decorations, and should probably just take them down if they aren't going to add anything else.

Kept on walking, checked out Pixar Pier, which is looking pretty good from the paint department. I really like the new color scheme for the coaster and Midway Mania and the Fun Wheel. Verdict still out on Lasseter's Lair, but it's looking like a fully deluxe retheme and refurbishment there.

Rode Pirates to say goodbye to the Redhead. Then staked out a spot for the fireworks in the sweet spot near the Candy Palace. The Pixar fireworks were exactly what they look like; an oddly stunted clip show of random Pixar scenes set to Randy Newman closing credits music. The CoCo scene was alarming with weird dead people from Mexico inflating on the roofs of Main Street USA. The flying Buzz Lightyear and flying Up house was neat, I have to admit. The rest was just disjointed and non-emotional blurry projections on stuff, with fireworks exploding above Ball Road. Not one of Disneyland's finer moments with that fireworks show.

The night was salvaged by going over and watching the 10:45pm Paint The Night with a glass of red wine from the Sonoma Terrace. Paint The Night looks really good in DCA. It reflects nicely off the darkened trees and rocks of Grizzly Mountain, plus the stucco buildings of Carthay Circle. The parade just fits in DCA, even before they add the Incredibles float in June. Plus you can still move around in that park when the parade is happening, unlike overcrowded Disneyland. I can easily see Paint The Night being DCA's night parade for the next few decades, a la' the MSEP at Disneyland circa 1972-1995.

And how funny that there are new shopping bags just for Pixar Fest, when it's real content is so shallow and vapid. I drove out of Downtown Disney fully expecting to owe 30 bucks for parking, but the gate arms were up and the CM's were just waving us all out to the street without payment. Thanks!

Overall, I have downgraded my rating of Pixar Fest from the pre-opening C+ that I gave it to a solid C. What prevents it from sliding down to a D+ is how well Paint The Night works in DCA and how much fun that parade is.

But Pixar Fest? Meh. Wake me when it's 2019, please.

Please not Hollywood Studios, please not Hollywood Studios

I wonder what happen to the original Inside Out float? In that movie year it was a parade by itself. All puppets on board.

I think it is safe to say Walt would've preferred the original Star Tours over The Adventures Continue.
Walt would have been smart enough to fund Star Wars when it was offered to him in the first place. He would have put in the Jedi/Sith coaster instead of a simulator.
