But my ears are now being raped with "We wants the rum"Wasn't meant to be better, was meant to be less rape-y.
(Dear gawd this hurts.)

I'd argue that a lot of it is absolutely deserved. There seems to be little respect for "Classic Disney Imagineering" in Florida.
SAID NO ONE EVERHauntedPirate,
Sorry you feel that way. I watched the video before seeing people's reactions and was actually impressed with the turnout. Whether or not the old way was disrespectful I always welcome new life being breathed into an attraction. The new script feels playful to me and fits rather nicely. For those that frequent the parks, changes are always a love/hate situation as seen by the varied opinions of the board. I offer a hearty congrats to the creative team for what I feel is a seamless and impressive plot twist.
I honestly didn't care about this change at all, but after hearing the terrible new dialogue I guess I'll jump on the bandwagon.
This was such a no-brainer: have the auctioneer try to sell items, chickens, etc. Drunk pirates: "No, we wants the redhead!" Redhead: *fires gun over their heads to shut them up*
I can't believe they missed the mark so badly.

In my mind, this is in direct competition with the interactive queue and new Hitchhiking Ghost effects at the Haunted Mansion as most offensive/unnecessary.
The new market scene-the centerpiece of the attraction-is basically the "Star Wars Special Edition" of refurbishments for me. They wanted to make the Redhead strong and independent, but they instead gave us Geena Davis from Cutthroat Island.
If the woman isn't being auctioned off and is just another pirate then the pirates would just be drunkenly hitting on her. Is that really much different than Donald chasing women all over Mexico?Because the whole point of the changeover is to get away from human trafficking.
A lot of people are confused by the idea of pirates auctioning items to other pirates. It makes sense to me.
How else would they distribute the loot amongst the crew? Split the grandfather clock into 20 equal parts?
It makes sense to let the crew members bid on the items they want (rather than fighting it out). This held true for the "bride" auction, and it holds for the current one.
In the context of an auction, and given that everyone knows what the original scene was about? If the woman isn't being auctioned off and is just another pirate then the pirates would just be drunkenly hitting on her. Is that really much different than Donald chasing women all over Mexico?
i'm kind of torn without seeing it in person- first, the scene looks largely broken except for the redhead and the auctioneer- there are so many people/objects that don't seem to move.
The lines feel very simplified, almost child like now. They are fighting over hens that lay eggs...and she says all they want is rum...perhaps they could have been more creative? And some of the lines are so similar to the original scene- I would have been fine if they changed the scene completely...not "overlay"...
I love seeing pirates who are torturing a person in an illegal act, drunk and setting the village on fire but arguing over hens...
It's the role she was born to play! And really, what else was Geena Davis doing?Geena Davis! That is who the "redhead" (she has brown hair) looks like to me

Absolutely.
