Tiki Room has one... all you have to do is have regular maintenance on it. If they can have them in Bora Bora...

I'm just saying, if you're gonna go for it, go all the way. But this has been mentioned ad nauseam, so ignore me. :)

I really want to visit a place like this in the South Pacific, but I know I probably never will. Not necessarily because it's cost prohibitive, but because I will never leave. They will have to remove my arms to drag me away to my plane, because I will attach myself to anything I can grab a hold of.

I feel exactly the same way. I'd be like Cory Matthews on Boy Meets World, carving coconuts for a living and refusing to ever leave.

Polynesian Resort photo update as of Tuesday, Dec 16. Work around the feature pool area.

Closer to the back entrance of the lobby, forms are ready for pouring new pavement, and landscaping plants are being installed just off this photo to the right.

Construction walls have been removed closest to the back lobby entrance revealing this newly landscaped area.

Pineapple Lanai can be seen in the background of this photo, just off the back lobby entrance.

Finally, this area between the Samoa and Niue outbuildings has new pavement, with landscaping being installed. Looking towards the Great Ceremonial House and the feature pool area.

Photo update as of Friday, Dec 19. More of the construction walls outside the back lobby were being removed this morning, revealing refreshed landscaping. This area is along the Niue outbuilding to the right, looking towards the feature pool in the background.

An update to the area between the Niue and Samoa outbuildings, looking towards the Great Ceremonial House. This walkway will probably open in a couple of days, as soon as landscaping behind this photo is completed.

Is this guy adding the little details to the walkway (like palm imprints, lizard footprints etc?) I've always wanted that job and to be the guy, gal in my case, who gets to add those in. :) Can you say "hidden mickey" and "hi mom" LOL

The first picture is a guy holding a leaf blower and the second is a guy with a power washer.
Those details are added when the concrete has just been poured, so it is wet and can be shaped. Most of the time they are pressed in with a stamp or with the item itself. (horseshoes, leaf-shaped stamps, etc.)

I posted this on the Polynesian Lobby thread, it's more appropriate here:
Any idea when the pool is slated for opening?

Thanks!

Photo update as of Tuesday, Jan 6. Landscaping on the berm between the DVC houses on the lagoon and the original Polynesian Village Resort has progressed to most of the berm covered with grass. Further landscaping to be done, it is not finished. See following photos.

IMG_4408.JPG

From the beach, you can see most of the berm is grass. Workers were stringing rope "railing" on the overwater walkways to the DVC houses, as seen here.

Photo update for Polynesian Village Resort landscaping and feature pool area as of Tuesday, Jan 6. More landscaped area has been opened outside the back door of the lobby. This photo is looking towards the Great Ceremonial House back entrance. Besides the large walkways on the left and right (off the right side of this photo), there is a smaller walkway dividing the tropical plants and an expanse of grass. The open grass area reminds me of the grass lawn behind the Boardwalk Resort lobby. If you were in a room in the Niue building, this would be your view.

From the lobby back door, your view towards the Niue and Samoa buildings, with the large grassy area on the left. Pineapple Lanai is just to the left of this photo.

Over the construction fence, work is progressing on the volcano feature pool area.

Finally, here is the view from the beach as you approach the feature pool area.
