Okay, I've seen the video and I honestly don't like it. Yes go ahead, bring on the comments that I complain too much. I really don't care.

But its too much, too noisy, and too obnoxious. It really ruins the build up to the effects in the attraction, its like showing the shark in Jaws at the very beginning of the movie. It ruins the build up and tension.

Also, what the heck are some of the tomb stones doing in narrow flower beds!? It makes no sense. How the heck would the coffin be buried beneath it?

I gotta agree with you on the tombstones in the flower beds. I'm like, "Wow that has to be some small casket!" They should've put a statue of a gryphon or some mythical beast in those flower beds maybe something else besides a tombstones.

I'll grant you the tombstones over small flower beds, but I guess that's an instance of trying to do as much as possible in a limited space.

As for the rest of your complaints, I respectfully disagree. In Jaws, the film foreshadows the appearance of the shark throughout the movie, building up the tension. While I don't think the queue necessarily builds tension, I would consider it similar foreshadowing, rather than ruining the build up. As a vignette style attraction, I don't really think there's anything to build up towards in the Haunted Mansion, though.

Not criticizing you for having your own opinion--just saying I don't agree with it.

I agree with this 100%. It has the appearance of random props being thrown together without any reason or order. What do musical instruments have to do with the Haunted Mansion?

Haven't there been some problems with the interactive props breaking at the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh queue? It would seem like they would have the same problems here.

However, there are some things I do appreciate. I've never liked the canopies, but the green works better. I wished they replaced it all, because it just looks silly now. Also, I do like the tributes to the Imagineers, but they should have found a better place for them. All in all, I was not thrilled.

Now, if they wanted to spare the expense, they could have made an AMAZING indoor queue . . . Perhaps with a cavern-like crypt theme?

Good morning everyone.

The tombstones represent the characters/props/paintings you would see in the mansion. The musical instrument tombstone represents the ghost band in the graveyard scene. Unfortunately I didn't get to see these last month when I was at WDW...the tarp was still up. Looking forward to my next trip to check them out in person.

This is all too true!!! :ROFLOL: However, I do have to commend the folks who gave criticism. Thank you for being civil in your criticism and backing up your points with valid concerns. I just visited another Disney site and they were foaming at the mouth and spewing vitriol like there was no tomorrow. (of course, the people at that site are NEVER happy about anything that Disney does). BTW, I think that this was a fine addition to the attraction and I can't wait for my annual Disney Trek to try it out myself.

I went and looked at "the other site" and couldn't believe that this addition is universally hated over there. I guess birds of a feather and all that.

I think this is pretty fun and well done myself. Those who think that this goes contrary to "the story" of the mansion, well, all I can say is, over the years, I've heard several different "official" and "unofficial" stories behind the mansion, and I don't think there is just one version.

This really does look like a plus to me. Cool stuff. I wonder which ride gets the queue treatment, next?

It would seem that Pirates would be the logical choice. I love that queue, but could easily see stuff like this (even related to the films) added there.

It is a great addition it appears and the doom and gloomers always doom and gloom. I'm glad I am not them.

It will be interesting to see how much of the recent adds to the HM find their way into the new movie. I have to think there is a bigger picture to all this.

After looking at pictures and the video of the expanded queue, I can say that overall I'm dissapointed and not a big fan of the expansion. It kinda spoils and convulutes the whole Haunted Mansion experience. The ride is supposed to have a subdued mellancholly tone and have a bit of suspense and mystery to it. With the expansion, mainly the interactive parts to it, the ride seems to turn into a fun cheery experience. THAT is NOT what the tone is supposed to be in my opinon.

Instead of making the crypts purely interactive and putting them in the riders reach where there is potential of them being damaged or destroyed the Imagineers should have placed the mausoleums adjacent to the queue somwhere with a wrot iron fence separating them from the guests and have them run on auto pilot. And I don't know why everything has to be touched I would have and probably would prefer something to be admired and looked at rather than something that may cause chaos or may be easily destroyed.

Thanks for the pictures, there really great !! :sohappy:

But now , :goodnevil . I must say that even though the crypts are awsome, i feel like there is to much there at the begining.... The pet cemetary could have been placed near the family gravestones ( except for Leota's). And the new crypts could had been placed at the Exit of the mansion ( along with a crypt designed to look like Madam Leota's gypsi wagon with her face and obitury placed in the wagon's crypt wall ).

This would had been a perfect place for the little ones who where to scared to travel thru the mansion to wait, and interact with some of the characters while waiting for the rest of there family- before heading out the exit gate towards the Yankee Trader gift shop.

But thats my opionion, but still a Fantastic job by WDI.:)

I know that you are just expressing your opinion, so this isn't a flame--but the tombstones that WERE there in the queue all along have been lighthearted. This is just an expansion of that exact same theme--and as we can see, the same jokey tombstones are still there.
So, I don't think that the new stuff changes the intent or mood of the queue at all. It's an enhancement. Again, my opinion.

Question to those who have seen this---where is the tombstone with Madame Leota opening her eyes and looking around? Is it still there?

One thing that I would say is that the "muse" book does seem to be a bit more childish than some of the other things, however I suppose the nature of all of these interactive queues is simplicity at it's core. All in all, this looks very impressive.

Question about the queue wait times yesterday, was the extended wait time because of the interactive queue? The impression that I got was that if you wanted to see the queue you could, whereas others could go directly to the attraction.

Most people would not have been aware of the interactive queue, so the Mansion wouldn't have been busy due to that being open. You could choose to either enter the interactive part of bypass it. The interactive part was not adding to the wait time, I would say the majority were bypassing it. The park was just plain busy - everything was 60 to 110 mins waits.

I think what has been done here, in a relatively short time, is amazing. The crypts look wonderful, the interactivity sounds incredible, and I believe THIS is the exact thing that TDO should be praised for for once. Nothing really needed done to this queue but they've gone and spent the money and enhanced it GREATLY! Whether you like what they've done or not, you can't argue the fact that money is being put into the park (finally) and in places where it's not necessarily needed but still appreciated (by me anyway).

I believe some people may need to take a step back and view HM from a child's POV. They are probably not sure what to expect from the name of the ride, look of the outside, and descriptions of ghosts. This new portion of the queue may set those kids who are skeptical about going on the ride at ease. Being able to interact with the organ, instruments, see bubbles, etc. may not be impressive to older folks, who may be wanting a more forboding and sinister view, but may be a fun and interesting way to excite kids and sort of distract them from the fear they may have about riding.

Can't wait to see the queue hopefully soon but probably not until 2013 or 2014.

Thanks WDI and TDO! Please give us a World to be proud of again!

We went through the new queue yesterday and it was awesome. It looks like you will have the option of going left and seeing it or staying right in the normal line. I won't have any pictures up until we get home next week.

It believe that was comedy.

You are correct. Maybe next time I should use an emoticon so everyone knows I'm joking...

Edit: This may have already been answered but I might have missed it: Is the non-interactive queue a shorter wait time? So if you don't care about the interactive queue after the second or third ride, could you get a shorter wait in the other line?

Yesterday they were giving you the choice of going through the interactive part or bypassing it. So the wait time would have been less bypassing the new section.
