You can probably plan on heavier crowds than what you are used to at the Magic Kingdom until the opening of the Fantasyland Expansion. All those people who were in Toontown have to get absorbed into the queues of the other existing rides and restaurants.

I wouldn't consider the Toontown crowds to be substantial enough to cause that. It's just spring break; this is the time I typically go, although my week this year is the first week in June. I came to expect similar wait times for the big attractions.

Crowds are that heavy right now.

Yeah I was a bit perplexed on Saturday. My wife and I got to the park at open and had ridden every single ride in the entire park by 10:00am. Towards later afternoon into the night, the park was more packed then summer days that I can remember. It was crazy to see it going from absolutely dead with walk-ons for every ride to no ride having a wait time under 70 minutes.

Only thing that really bugs me is the voice of the poet. Sea Captain's grave at least sounds like a ghostly voice is coming out of it.

Love all this new stuff!

I really am worried about our destructive guests getting their hands, gum and graffiti penmanship (and any other destructive devices) on our HM tombstones.

Wish they had been made unavailable to our guests. They are going to get wrecked.

Only way to stop it is video surveillance or posting CM's there to stop it. And that costs extra money. Need to catch some doing it and making an example of them. Make them pay what ever it takes to replace or repair their destructiveness.

The water effects bother me...and I truly wonder how long those books and other things will work after constant abuse all day...I have a feeling those effects will not work for very long unless they have massive upkeep

I agree. The first thought was "how long will that last"...

I think that since they are so close and handy we should start bringing flowers and reeves to put on their graves. Kind of like the person who put stuff on Poe's grave. That could add alot to the legend of Gracey and the others.

I'll reserve my final judgement for when I see it irl, but imo it kind of clashes with the exterior a bit.

It's been a while since I last posted here but since someone posted a link to my Haunted Mansion queue video (thanks!) I figured I'd chime in to address some of the concerns/questions...

Yes, the queue splits left and right and today a cast member made it very clear which led to what. Guests got it right away. Some said "let's take the faster line!" others wanted to play.

I too was taken aback by the lack of room given to some of the Mansion's most famous tombstones. But I've since learned that in colonial days, it was not uncommon for coffins to be buried vertically underground to save space. This Mansion is in Liberty Square, so that blends historically. Whether WDI intended this or not, it works as an explanation for me.

My favorite part is all of the new tribute tombs/crypts. Paul Frees, Ken Anderson, Blaine Gibson, Harriet Burns, Rolly Crump, Thurl Ravenscroft. They deserve the credit!

As for the sound... it's not nearly as loud as it appears in the video. My video camera has sensitive directional microphones that pick up sound VERY well. So the instruments are not nearly as loud in person until you get close to the appropriate crypts. Once you pass them, you hear them, but not loudly - and you can't hear them at all from the regular queue.

The organ sprays air/mist when the keys are "pressed" and it surprised quite a few guests, who laughed it off. A fun moment.

You can only really hear the poetess when you're standing directly in front of the window.

If you read the inscription on the sea captain's tomb, the bubbles and song make a lot more sense. It's quite the amusing little scene, ironic and very much in the spirit of the Haunted Mansion. And yes, kids love playing in water.

In fact, kids love this whole area. Children who are normally scared by the Mansion can now visit here and be happy about visiting. It will invite them to enter the Mansion, which I think is great!

The portholes on the rear side of the sea captain's crypt did not "do" anything today. I'm not sure if they ever will. They simply looked cloudy and yellow to me.

The rest of the tombstones were still hidden in the old graveyard area, including Madame Leota's in her same "old" spot.

You do not notice (or really even see) the show building from this new queue area. You just see the side of the Mansion.

Overall, as a HUGE Haunted Mansion fan, I think WDI did a great job with this addition. I look forward to seeing it at night.

Probably because everyone was just arriving in Central Florida for their week-long vacation, and headed to the park after getting checked into their hotels.

I remember one time when I went mid-December, we were leaving early-evening the Saturday before Christmas, and decided to spend our final few hours in the MK. Crowds were medium-light as they had been all week, and then around 1-2pm *WHAM*!!! It was like 5000 buses had all let out in front of the park at once. We grabbed lunch and then made a hasty exit from the park before the afternoon parade.

So do we know yet if the option to skip the extended que will always be an option? I would think no as it makes sense to have it this way for a 'preview.' I think it can severely screw things up if they decided to keep it optional. Can you imagine nobody except the fanboys lurking through the extended que.

Favorite feature...In this video around 7:30, there are some nice new crypts dedicated to Paul Frees, Ken Anderson, Rolly Crump, and Blaine Gibson. A VERY thoughtful detail.

Not a fan of water features and heavily-touched surfaces so there's plenty about this that grosses me out, but in general I love the addition and think it's done well and with respect to HM tradition.

The poet's book is very interesting visually but odd. It looks as though they found a great effect and decided to use it whether it fit or not. No big issue with it though - it fits well enough.

I can't imagine that. It will always be popular with fanboys, families, children, and regular visitors alike.

I could more easily imagine nobody in the direct queue than nobody in the extended queue.

I wish WDW Magic existed in 1966 so I could see people complain about Pirates of the Caribbean because too many people liked it.

This is all too true!!! :ROFLOL: However, I do have to commend the folks who gave criticism. Thank you for being civil in your criticism and backing up your points with valid concerns. I just visited another Disney site and they were foaming at the mouth and spewing vitriol like there was no tomorrow. (of course, the people at that site are NEVER happy about anything that Disney does). BTW, I think that this was a fine addition to the attraction and I can't wait for my annual Disney Trek to try it out myself.

I think she sounds like JoAnne Worley.

Overall, I like most of what I see. However, I think the whole thing should have been at the end of the ride with the other crypts, not before you go in.
