When I saw the images at first glance it looked neat..Then I saw that it had a slide and the frame is netted for people to go up a second floor..It to me looks like one of those Foam Ball Factory attractions..Sans the Foam Balls..
KidWorksPlayzone.jpg

With the amount that the levels and staircase are enclosed, something has me wondering about this possibility. The staircase is completely enclosed in screens it looks like, has to be for some purpose besides safety.

It looks terrible. So crappy looking. It's like a disney chuck e cheese. I'm afraid to see what the test track queue will look like.

I know I'm in the minority here but I was very impressed with the indoor que. I thought it looked great! Having that said, my only reseravtions are how this is going to run with people having pagers? Will they only allow a ceratin amount of people in at a time? Will this slow things dwon etc? To be honest I'd rather have my 2 1/2 year old be standing right next to me as we wait for attractions. I don't want to have to chase her around or be worried about her in a que full of kids running and people everywhere. I guess we will just have to wait and see until September when we go.

But really, they could produce a half hour show and run it every Sunday night (or whatever day makes the most sense in today's society) that has Muppets and theme park highlights, and cruise highlights, and cartoons.

Yes it was called Walt Disney World:Inside Out..Which they should bring Back!

Regarding the concept art...
If my memory serves (which is questionable...),it was not done originally for the MK. It was done several years ago for Hong Kong, before the cuts reduced it to a "traditional" Dumbo. The art was repurposed for MK when they needed something to show.

In short...when looking at concept art, don't believe everything you see.

I could see them maybe bringing this back to Disney Channel but no way they would every bring a weekly show about Disney World to ABC...occasional specials, maybe, but no way a weekly show. I just don't think many people would watch it...and things with poor ratings get canceled. There isn't a demand for it. ABC has enough troubles (they came in 4th place of the broadcasts nets this year) without adding a low rated show. I think the only place they could justify putting something like this would be on Friday night, when many people don't watch tv anyways. Sunday nights are not somewhere I could see them wanting to put something like that unless they decided to replace/shorten America's Funniest Home Videos. Making essentially a spruced up documentary for something that already makes you money isnt something I see TDO wanting to do.

That being said, I do think they need to do something different with their marketing campaigns. They need to advertise the new things that they do have so I would hope we'd see New FL used in advertising the way Universal uses Potter. Or they need to do something really really cool like the year of a million dreams...that was really intriguing to me.

I SERIOUSLY don't understand why Disney wouldn't run a 30 or 60-min show each week (like the old Wonderful World of Disney) on ABC that's like an infomercial for the parks.

They could do a variety show, focus on a different park or destination each week. Throw in the Muppets to get them some face time. I mean, they own the dang station, spend a few dollars and put something back on the air.

They would capture the entire market like they did in the old days. Forget all the commercials - families would flock to a good, old fashioned television show.

Heck, as Devoy mentioned, they don't even run resort-specific commercials, just a generic commercial with DL and some WDW footage and a tag at the end telling you which one it is advertising (here in AZ we sometimes get the same commercial for both DL and WDW). It would be a good start if they could just do a 60-sec spot specific to the WDW parks, a 30-60 min show might be asking a bit much.

BTW, I agree with you on the Dumbo queue. There are plenty of things I complain about with WDW but giving the kids something to do while waiting for Dumbo isn't one of them. Plus I will need to see more than two still photos to make a determination on the quality. Until I see it in action I can't make any sort of reasonable judgement.

I'm available to host, I'll even shave.

Video certainly makes it look a bit better than the pictures. See, he is flying around up there!

Wow, terrible. Oh well, Atleast Dumbo will look nice outside at night.

Having now seen the video, I believe the Dumbo queue is likely to be amongst my kids' favorite attractions in all of MK. Climbing nets, trampolines, slides, little obstacle course things, a talking pager, and an elephant flying around will all be hits.

Yep I think it will be a massive hit with the kids. It is basically now like getting two attractions for the price of one. They get to play in a cool playground, and then ride Dumbo afterwards. It is infinitely better than how it was before. I think more of us need to remember that Dumbo is primarily for kids - and what is being delivered is very much targeted to that.

I think the artwork in question was originally pitched to the folks at OLC (for Tokyo DL), with respect to upgrading their original Dumbo (like the original 1971 MK version). Can't imagine why they didn't get on-board with this. It looks like a huge improvement over what they have. I especially like the little fountains.

What are you talking about?

Disney parks are recording record attendance numbers with ever increasing ticket prices (phenomonal increase over the last eight years). Despite this, the Orlando parks suffer from decreased mantainence and precious few new attractions. When Disney charges more and more and delivers less and less, people will be upset.

Personally, I don’t complain, I just vote with my wallet. My family has not been to WDW since 2010 and we are going this year either.

Actually, Disney has been charging less and less recently. However, they have been hopeful that they may start cutting back on all the discounted packages they have been offering as has been the case a little this year.

I will be voting with my wallet next Friday when we get there.

The video looks much better. I'm glad my kids are older-it would be difficult getting them out of the play area. It will be interesting to see how this works. What if mom and dad's ticket pager is going off and they can't find Junior as he is climbing around in the nets overhead? Wonder what the capacity will be at any given time.

This will certainly be a hit with my two kids! They're getting a little older (9 & 6) but they will love the climbing structure. I can see my kids asking to go on Dumbo multiple times just to get in the queue!

It's not a queue that entertains all ages... however it has seating and AC, which I consider entertainment after dragging kids around in the heat!
