Some got defensive because he was a bit smug in his tweet. But instead of questioning what people were posting, they latched onto Brandon's presentation and ran with that. Nice way of failing to face the actual point and instead deflect to something they can attack. Totally expected behavior.

The epicenter of the tempest in the teapot was a tweet saying
@brandonkleyla I enjoy knowing the REAL reason the waterfalls are coming out and I can't say a word. So have fun internet. #roundandroundyougo
Who is Brandon Kleyla? Is that someone who works for Disney? Never heard of him. Guess I'm out of the loop. And probably for the better ;)

Claim to fame is gathering antiques to fill Buena Vista St store windows.

Which ops promptly covered up with "2013" merch displays.

Thanks.

I use Twitter mainly for breaking news, info and live reports.

There is definitely a cliquishness to some who have come to be more visible in the Disney community and mistake that for being a rockstar. (when they were the pimply overweight picked on kid in school).

Great thing about Twitter is that you create by choice the content that comes to you. I don't follow people who annoy me. I do follow those who offer the type of info I want.

I am very surprised to see Jason Surrell, author of some well known Disney Park books, throwing his hat into the ego-inflated, Disney goon squad mentality Twitterverse.

Back to the Poly and the removal of the fountain. We shall see. Maybe the the reason for it's removal turns out to be that it creates a direct path to DVC bungalows.

Here's a thought we haven't considered- could there be something behind the Tiki man fountain?
Isn't there supposed to also be a major renovation to the pool area?
Assuming that the concept art is "accurate" to the current plan, what if the idea is for there to be some sort of larger water feature(s) forward of the main lobby space that connects to the pool in some way, similar to what's at the Animal Kingdom and Wilderness Lodges.

You're absolutely right!

They are certainly a bunch of little brats, and when you cross one of them they cannot wait to pounce on you... on the internet... LOL

Us NY'ers (well im ny state) must not get it because we're too well versed in reality, and too much warm weather makes you slow I guess..

I'm enjoying your youtube series though, you do a great job of sharing disney and not come off like a pixie duster or a mouse worshiper.

The fan base came as a result of Apple's choices.. not before. Let's not forget... the vast majority of Apple zealots today do not know Apple prior to OSX or the iPod :)

The fan base came with the iPod. Then the intel switch. No one remembers the 68 to ppc changeover. Or the beige G3. So of course it came with corporate choices.

But that's not the point. Apple can, and does, have that attitude because they can. They offer what they offer, a top-tier, no excuses product. They don't discount, they don't cost engineer. Everything (almost) they offer is top notch. Everything they present is reflective of that unwavering position. Disney isn't that. Disney value engineers, they discount, they visibly and obviously cut corners. Not saying Apple doesn't, but Apple takes it's image and reputation way more seriously than Disney. As long as Disney is known as the go-to kids brand, they're happy. If Disney could get away with selling sewage, even if for a short while, they would. That's not Apples mentality, Apple will sell you whatever they can, but not if it sells the brand short.

Apple does it because they believe the product will overcome the naysayers. They don't give the customer all the inside scoops and transparency because they believe the product will win out.

Disney can be playing the same game... If you think the final product will 'fix all' why would you cower to explain yourself ?

Uhh iPod socks?? :) antenna gate?

Apple is as arrogant as they come - they were on a roll tho so everyone turns a blind eye. Disney on the other hand hasn't been batting the same average so people are second guessing Disney vs trusting

I have lived in Manhattan for 29 yrs now (holy crap!) so yes we are well versed in reality lol.

Thanks for watching my videos. Makes it worth the effort. I obviously am a big Disney fan but I will always be honest with my opinions.

Well that's really the whole point, Apple has that arrogance, they also have a pretty rock solid product line up and an understanding of who and what the company is. You don't walk out of an Apple store and get asked to answer a few questions about how filthy the place was. Apple won't tarnish it's reputation with crap like that. Disney seems to operate on consumer whims without any sort of upper level guidance. Apple creates (or has) markets and niches, then let's consumers come to them. Disney (of recent) seems to jump on whatever fad is popular at the moment and proclaim it's the cool guy who's always liked said fad.

You can't possess arrogance if your grounds for being arrogant shift with every new pre teen gimmick. Arrogance requires standing on your own, not bending your will to appeal to a bunch of diaper wearers and Wall St.

Though I guess those could be one in the same.

I do like the new smaller fountain with Tiki-man logo statue, and the rest of new lobby design looks like a cross between The Animal Kingdom Lodge lobby and the AK DVC lobby... which kinda what I expected anyway

Disneys-Polynesian-Village-Resort-Lobby-Concept-Art.jpg

The more I look at it the more I like it. (So shoot me, hehe) The fountain is not as small as it seems and from what I can tell the water cascade is built on something either real, or resembling rock. I do think it needs more greenery. Mr FreakyTiki is still odd, but not scary.

The one thing this design will really do is open the area and give the guests arriving early and those waiting for a bus a place to rest and be comfortable. The current lobby has seating areas downstairs, but (to me) they are a bit awkward to sit and wait in.

Yeah, it's good. Just a bit more nature there please Disney.

Side note: 5 out of 6 families in that released picture have small children. With the prices as they are at the poly, I doubt this reflects actual statistics. Perhaps they're gearing up to ask more young families to buy into DVC.
