News PHOTOS - Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom to receive enhancements this summer

I think the bunting looks good in photos and likely from Main Street/the hub too. It's only when you're close to the castle that the molded plastic aspect would catch your attention and probably not look so great.
The bunting looks "cartoony" to me. Almost like floating elements superimposed in AR.

This is very interesting, and makes me wonder if somehow, somewhere, whichever young art student who selected the salmon/gold/purple iridescent paint scheme might have thought it would make the entire castle look similarly "cartoony" in an effort to create an overall effect.

Anyone else see that, or is it just me?

"Cartoony" is a good descriptor.

My hunch is that the cartoony effect is the result of the necessary material choices. They are meant to look like flowing, flexible fabric, but they are eternally rigid and unmoving, thus the uncanny discrepancy. If they were made out of some fabric, it would be both more realistic and more approachable, but just isn't possible in FL weather at that size.

I think that's because it's molded plastic. If it was marine vinyl or some other heavy duty fabric that could withstand water etc., then it would at least flutter a bit which would go a long way towards making it feel more real.

The castle was awesome in its original white and blue when there were also trees with sparkling lights. But, I'm old. It's just too busy now. View attachment 541439

Maybe because I never experienced the castle like this... but I am glad I never did. It just looks dusty and sad to me.

I think if they tone down the current pink, and keep the blue they are now painting, the castle would actually be looking its best. I love the gold accents.

LOL.

But seriously. If they kept the gold and the new blue, and then either went for a more white-based pink, or just back to the white, I think it would look great.
I kind of agree... If for some reason they HAVE to keep it pink then I'm all for the palest pink possible. So pale to the point that it's almost white. ;) I still think Tokyo's castle has the best color scheme.

As previously stated after a few Dole Whip Rum Floats just let the imagination go and it will look just fine. Everything looks better after a little rum is consumed, it does not take much.

What's plan with the pace/scheduling of these decorations? It seems like they have a team of two people who go up each night and put up a single decoration then call it a night? Wouldn't it make more sense to not do anything at this point, and then closer to the 50th put it all up over the course of a single week with a larger team? The current method seems like an inefficient time use for all the machinery involved, and the fact that the moat needs to be drained for the length of the construction.

Perhaps they wanted to test a few molded pieces first and see how they looked before ordering or installing the remainder? It can't simply be a money savings technique.
