Is that pink color so different with different sun settings? I mean, in these photos I think the pink looks pretty good..

With the sun affecting the white balance?

Yep! The official AP photo is awful. I’ll find it and tag you. :)

EDIT: @IMDREW here’s how much of a difference the sunlight makes. Really!

And this is a place that supposedly hires the best and brightest talent in the world. Ahem.

That a whole other point. And I def agree with that a 100%. But if they HAVE to have it pink, could it please be a pink that looks nice and doesnt feel so gross?
They only needed it pink to make clueless execs happy. Luckily, it appears (according to rumors) she’ll be white again after this lackluster 50th cupcake sale. We seem to have lucked out when Tokyo received a gorgeous repaint at the same time as Orlando. The juxtaposition forced execs to compare the results. That’s when the PR suddenly started saying this was “50th anniversary Rose Gold.”

Goodness, I HOPE that's true. Tokyo's paint job has long been head and shoulders above WDW's, but to see them both painted anew in the same year and have that gap widen from both ends of the spectrum is just embarrassing. WDW should have gotten Tokyo's paint job - throw in a few more gold accents for the Anniversary if necessary. No one deserves WDW's current paint job.

For everyone's reference:

Tokyo's paint job is pretty much perfect. Man, I hope that's true though. I'd love for them to do something similar to Tokyo at WDW, but even if they just returned it to its original 1971 look, which is slightly different from the color scheme we've had for the past dozen years or so, it would be so much better than the "earidescent" look we have presently.

I'm just now realizing after seeing the two being compared to one another how much the stage detracts from MK's castle. Even though Tokyo's Cinderella Castle is slightly shorter, it seems larger in that pic and is much better framed.

Yeah, the stage screws up the base which messes up the whole perspective.

“Clueless execs” seems to be a commonality with Disney decision making for the last decade or more. Since maybe 2003/4-ish.

I'm liking it more with the decorative bunting thats being installed. It continues to dress up the castle nicely in the festive theming. I'm still holding back my opinion over the pink painted portions because folks say it needs to be seen in person.

I have seen it in person and it looks like the castle has a sunburn...something aboiut the gold iridescence in the paint make it go more tan... it changes throughout the day depending on the light...but none of them look great to me... The pale gray 1971 look is still the most magestic, and makes the castle look larger than it is....

Would WDW ever do something completely insane and replace Cinderella Castle with a brand new castle? Like Shanghai’s castle? Keeping in mind the WDW we know today that had no problem ruining Epcot lol.

If you asked that question 5 years ago I would say no, never. But after everything they've done recently I wouldn't put anything past them.

Hence why it was painted that way in the 1970s...by film-trained art directors who knew how to make things look right...and who had decades of experience and mistakes on smaller projects...

I have and it’s ugly. “See it in person” doesn’t even make sense next to “They painted it that way for Instagram.”

Make up your mind, fanboys. Pick an excuse and stay logical. ;)

(I agree with you that the 50th bunting is nice!)

Shanghai BAH! Go big or go home! If that is the thought process then the new castle needs to be bigger, taller, more impressive. Put Shanghai to shame.
