Photo of Silly Sideshow character outfits

Loving the overly negative reactions to a bad quality cell phone snapshot taken in harsh light outside of normal show lighting and conditions without waiting whatsoever to see what the actual final product looks like as the design team intended.

Typical WDWmagic. At least we're consistent.
The picture is perfectly clear and this is the final product. It is garish.

If we have to wait for the final final product before commenting then this entire FLE subforum ought to be closed until 2014, which is inane.

Isn't this almost identical to the concept art that was released? Outside of no-pants on Donald (who seems to have an aversion to them), and maybe a few other minor modifications, is this much different than we were expecting based on the concept art?

Could you possibly be any more of a Disney apologist?

Honestly though, I do respect you. You have conviction and stand up for what you love.

I'm about as far from being an apologist as you could get. I just believe in choosing my battles. Lime green on Donald's vest doesn't bother me. Especially since I haven't seen it in person and don't know how it will look in show conditions.

A broken yeti bothers me. Lack of light bulb maintenance bothers me. The state of Dinosaur bothers me. The list could go on for days.

There are lots and lots and lots of things we should be raising our voices over and getting ed about with the current state of WDW. I don't think anything I've seen in FLE warrants anger. Everything I've seen and experienced has been top notch quality.

Also, I'm glad somebody having a positive outlook about WDW on a WDW fan site makes them an apologist. Have we really come to that?

I guess I came into the discussion after the HD version of the photo that showed them in their dimly-lit circus environments was replaced by the grainy, washed-out, harshly lit cell phone snap of them along a wall in sun light that I see. You'd be amazed at how much that can affect color perception.

Oh, my goodness... Garish? At a circus?? The nerve of Disney!!

With the exception of Goofy, I think these look quite a bit different then the concept art.

Sorry, my bad. I should have said "circus".

When I think circus, I think of the ringmaster, lion tamer, trapeze artists, etc. (all of which would have been perfect for the CicusLand meet and greets). I don't see a big connection between circus and gypsy.

Carnival, maybe. Circus, no.

I always associate the gypsy / fortune teller with anything that had a sideshow, which was very prevalent with early 1900's circus like PT Barnum and Ringling Brothers. Honestly, when I think of a fortune teller, I always picture the gypsy carriage sitting off in the dark corner of the sideshow, so to me that does not seem like a stretch at all. The first photo I linked to was from a circus.

Circus Sideshows in the 1900s
"Other sideshow acts could include sword-swallowers, fire-walkers and fortune-tellers."

A big plot point of the Chaplin film "The Circus" includes a turn at the fortune teller
(around 44:30 in)

And then there is PT Flea's Circus, featuring Manny and Gypsy

I guess so. When I wrote that I was doing some side by side comparisons and didn't feel it was too far off, but I do see changes in each character (aside from Goofy). I thought that it looked like Minnie had changes in her shoes and headwear and Donald and Daisy had their hatred of pants/skirts. Looking closer, I see that both Donald and Daisy have actually changed quite a bit of their outfit from the photo, Daisy most drastically.
I guess I didn't feel it too far off, but the concept art was quite more involved than the photos, so I do see your point.

I just realized it!!! Minnie is a magician's assistant!

That lends credence to the thought that Minnie will join Mickey in the Town Square when the Princesses leave next year....
