Peter Pan's Flight closing for month long refurbishment after the summer

New façade or this will be a waste of good downtime.

Needs a façade that is in keeping with the new FLE standards.

Agreed. Basically, PPF's exterior looks like a roadside carnival dark ride that, after the crowds disperse, is hitched to a Ford pickup and hauled away to the next venue.

Yup I hate the tent facade as well, have been ready to get an upgrade forever now (ever since I visited Disneyland Paris and its gorgeous Fantasyland in the 90's).

The only problem is that Small World is still going to be a serious problem with clashing themes. It still has the tent facade and it's going to take some creative thought to come up with a new one that is up to standards with the rest of the newly designed Fantasyland. The one used in the other Disney parks won't work with Florida's due to how close the ride was built to Peter Pan (which I still think was a bad move by the original designers of Magic Kingdom by the way, created a nasty bottleneck and made it difficult to update in the future without having to massively gut and rebuild that entire area). The old tent facades clash horribly with the new style. And given how the princess meet and greet area is keeping the old tent style facade, i'm worried there's not even much of a desire in Disney's headquarters to make major changes to these older facades. From the concept art it actually sounds like they kind of want to keep those horrible tent designs in at least a couple of places.

Either way, for a new Peter Pan facade to work properly in my book, Small World's facade is going to need to change with it. While I really dislike the tent look, changing only half of that area will create a very unpleasant clashing of themes and could end up even worse than it is now. You always see both sides however you approach that area, so there's no way to prevent that clash without changing both sides in a similar manner.

The best idea I can come up with for Small World without actually physically removing and relocating the ride is by doing something entirely new and original with the front of the building. Either way the tent needs to go. A glockenspiel clock, though with a German influence made of stone and metal as opposed to the Disneyland style facade (with the characters being children from different countries around the world)-

Otherwise I can't think of what could be done instead given how cramped this area is... And if this were done, the inside of the queue would need yet another new design as well.

I may be in the minority here, but I don't want them to do too much updating. Cleaning and repairing, yes, but this is one of those classic attractions that I worry about being destroyed with an "update" to it.

thats life things change....i hate seeing old movies for a reason.

I'm sorry you are unable to appreciate the classics. I understand things change, but there's no reason the change every classic attraction at the park. Peter Pan still draws consistent large crowds (yes, I realize partially due to its low capacity), so I see no need to make any major updates/changes to it.

party due to its capacity? and when things go so long without some updating they do not fit with the NEW if you will the tech of the rides clash...theming aside. just because rides draw crowds....at the most visited theme park on earth.....is not a reason to sit put....reference blue ocean theory....anything and everything can be made better....example i enjoy most of the updates to POTC granted some scream some iteration of "you are ripping my childhood out" as the old ride is what they keepsake.

Don't expect anything exciting. The reason this refurb is unannounced is because it wasn't supposed to happen. Peter Pan's been having some major mechanical issues as of late, and it's things Disney can't ignore. (It was down for two days straight a few weeks ago, it goes down a lot because the roof has a horrible leaking problem, it keeps emergency stopping itself, generator problems, etc.) It's just to fix some maintenance issues. Just take it from me, every day is one day closer to that ride just flat-out dying on us, and it's been getting way worse lately.

a month or two is nowhere near long enough to refurb the facade based on how long disney takes. although, i would think that they would be able to refurb the facade without taking the ride down. they did that for IASW. PP is one of the most popular rides at MK and for good reason. i hope they can find a way to keep it open during an update to the facade.

well as long as their not taking it out to replace it with silly the cat's wacky wee!! adventures then I'm good.
I have been waiting so very patiently for this ride to debut. I hear the final scene contains "wacky wee" sprayers. I'm surprised they aren't putting it in Animal Kingdom due to the "way to heavy for families on vacation theming" of spaying and neutering. Please give this ride it's very own thread!!!

I love PPF but after going on the new Transformers ride at USO, wow .. it just seems to be horribly dated. I know, I know, it's for the kids (and adults alike - i grew up loving this ride) but it really needs some upgrades, nostalgia notwithstanding. As long as they stay true to the story then anything should be fair game. PoTC and HM have been successfully plussed - here's to hoping that PPF gets some of this treatment
