About 6 yrs ago, we were in Epcot, at the Italy Pavillion (my son was picked to participate in the act .... with a rope and a soccer ball), some gentleman kept taking pics, we thought it was someone associated with Disney. All of a sudden, a gentleman we didn't even know jumped up, grabbed the *photographer* and started screaming, that he had been following his daughter around the park and taking her pics. CMs came out of no where, detained the photographer, and then security was called, and the man was carted off. I hear these things now and it makes me cringe. I guess there's sickos all over the place.

This is where I fail as a parent. If my kids ever came up to me and told me something like this, I'd drag the guy out of the pool and start beating on him.

Then fail as many times as you have to because if someone did this to my kid, a beating is the best he (or she) could hope for....

Not vigilantes, just people who love, care, and would do anything to keep their children safe ;) And yes, violence is not the answer, but in this case .... it would be.

By that you mean people who huge egos who talk big in an internet forum but would not follow through if the event actually occurred. Hmm, sounds like big talkers back in high school.

I very much understand the feelings and everyone wants to take care of their kids. Our kids protection is always foremost. But there is an assumption going on that you could beat on the perp. I worked in the criminal justice system and I did psych evaluatons for the courts on many of these perps. Many of the were very tough and would be hard to take on. Don't assume that they couldn't really hurt you more than you could hurt them.

The best way to help your child is get security to deal with the perp while you take care of your child who likely needs you more to help with their confused and hurt feelings more than seeing you in a fight and possibly being lead off to jail yourself. That would hurt and confuse them more. Your child needs your calming reassurance more than anything else at that time.

I think Disney World is one of the safest places you can take a family on the face of the earth, and this just may be an isolated incedent. You don't hear about things like this happening everyday at Disney World, so people should be alarmed by it, but should also put the nooses away.

I would have no issues letting my children go off by themselves at Disney World, Universal or a Six Flags, not so much, but Disney World, absolutely.

Jimmy Thick-Keep things in perspective.

That's kind of funny since Disney tends to actually attract pedophiles simply because there are so many children there and everyone seems to think they're in Neverland (and not talking MJ's old place) and nothing bad could possibly happen to them.

Lots of vigilantes in this thread.

"Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, 'VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,' saith the Lord." - Romans 12:19

I don't normally quote the Bible but it seems fitting here. That said, if it was my daughter I would want to tear the guy's throat out.

I think this thread has served its purpose - to remind us that no place is 100% safe, so we still need to use a little common sense when we vacation. We shouldn't fear a predator around every corner, but we also shouldn't throw caution to the wind just because we're in WDW.
