Permits Filed for Phase 2

Still confused. If they were moving the lanes inward, why tear up pavement on the inside. Unless they have to tear up what was there in order to replace it with a new lane with the guide rail...

Anyhow, since the new art should be released next week, I have received approval to go ahead and post the bit of plan that shows Dumbo in his new location. This version goes back to late 2009, and as far as I can tell it is still valid.

Due to the nature of the image, it's kinda tricky to make out the other stuff besides Dumbo, but if you look close you can see the Speedway in it's current orientation, along with Barnstormer (still bearing it's working title of "Cheese Coaster").
Note: This isn't a photoshop based on the original plans. This is an actual revised plan.
Don't say I never gave you guys anything...

Thanks, Lee. In a weird way, almost any change in the Magic Kingdom is interesting these days. All the better there are some new attractions! Sad state, isn't it?

Is it not possible that the work on the Indy Speedway is unrelated to the Fantasyland project and just has to do with dealing with some issue limited to the Speedway?

Ah...that's no fun, though. More interesting to see it as part of some larger plan.

Maybe they are just repairing the inside lanes so they can shut down the outside lanes for an extended period of time. Looking at how close Dumbo is to the track in the new drawing, I don't see how they could safely keep the outside lane open during construction.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate you posting the blueprint. Its a little bit of Disney info that will tie me over until the announcement tuesday.

Is that a little "Project X" I see westward across from Dumbo? How did that get there?

Lee I has a question?!

So when everything is announced will you be able to relese anything new blueprints wise? I would really like to see that? Or anyone who has the blueprints if they are allowed too! lol I would be fun to overlay it with the original plans. lol

That's bizarre. I was at MK a couple of days ago and just noticed that nook between the Speedway and Barnstormer. It seemed like the perfect place for Dumbo (instead of in front of the Speedway loop as previously speculated).

Is Barnstormer still moving the 16 feet now Lee? Seems to not need to (and impossible) now that Dumbo is going there.

When the original plans were announced, someone "in the know" stated that Barnstormer would be moved 16 feet in order to accommodate the Dumbos.

Does anyone else find Dumbo's new placement a bit strange, thematically? They are basically moving it into Tomorrowland. I know the entrance will be in Fantasyland Forest, but I find the new view from the ride itself to be counter to the theme of the ride.

the new view? When did Dumbo get a time machine?

i think thats why disney filed permits for the barricades. I'm sure the barricades will obstruct the view from the speedway to see dumbo.

disney won't let us drive around on a speedway and see directly at a big ole' circus tent. lol.

and i'm sure the noise that will happen inside the tent will drown out the noise the cars make.

There's only so much space available.....
Yes, but for a ride that has very little theming of its own, it's the surrounding theming that makes the ride (also true for the Astro Orbiter and Magic Carpets).

So the new view will then be of...walls?

I'm sure the views will be appropriately blocked from each other by fencing, trees, etc. But yeah, i'm sure you'll still be able to see some of Tomorrowland when the Dumbos are up.

It's an amusement park. There's only so much that can be done. You can see Space Mountain from the Dumbos now. I don't think anyone's vacation is ruined.

don't know....the permit just says barricades. that could be walls, trees, cars painted as circus tents. lol.
