Rumor Pecos Bills to be rethemed?

Thread title should probably be changed to reflect that this is a rumor.

I have no idea if this is true one way or the other, but seeing Imagineers at a site “looking around” does not automatically mean a retheme is imminent.

I also wonder how they’d handle an extended closure at one of the park’s two largest quick service restaurants.
How would they handle it? Hoping ppl will be too busy waiting in lines at attractions to notice.

Yeah, but we're not talking the Adventureland side of the structure here... that's Tortogua Tavern... this is Pecos Bills on the side facing the river and the rest of frontierland.

This area has always been a transition band.. using the corner and pathway on the far side as part of the transition to Adventureland. Much of the styling of Pecos bills is in that missionary/spanish style to easy that change over as you round the corner.

Note the roof of Peco and stucco of Peco's differs from the structures right next to it on the frontierland side... fitting more with Pirates.. yet still has this very wood rustic fence line and porches like frontierland. It's like a blend in itself to try to make that changeover.

The old 'outpost' building is actually working pretty much against it in terms of supporting that changeover... but I think because the hard cut isn't really supposed to be until the archway.

The issue here is you could make the entrance over by the outpost and the outpost itself more a nebuous transistion that is less 'frontierland' and maybe more bayou.. but you still have BTMRR as the thorn in your side.
Yes, it will always feel at least a bit clunky because of where BTMRR is. This is definitely a simpler project for DL but I also think that means we will see more dramatic changes in the area surrounding the ride than DL. Perhaps this is why DL can wait 4 months (apparently) to close theirs and still open in late 2024.

Except there's zero reason to believe that a retheme of Pecos Bill's would be a retheme to Tiana's Bayou whatever-whatever. It could just as easily (and in my opinion, more likely) be rethemed to some other Old West thing.

and frankly.. if they are digging so deep to be concerned about the Peco Bill indian segment... good lord we are doomed.

As this very thread showed... no one was bothered by this and most people didn't even know it was even a Disney produced segment to begin with. No one watches the anthology/package films. (tho they have some of the most memorable animated shorts!!!)

Any update would not be because Pecos Bill is somehow now problematic. It would be as part of the TBA project. I’m not sure how the restaurant would change.

This project was budgeted to include a restaurant retheme for both parks.

I would bet they want to sell beignets by this ride given the IP.

If the proposal to change Pecos Bills into something New Orleans like is true, it's another sign of WDI not caring about how MK is different than Disneyland and trying to "fix" this "problem".

MK needs more dining options anyway. Building a new facility would be a better use of funds, but it seems with anything Tiana related only overlays are allowed.

I have assumed this was coming ever since the Splash news broke so not surprising if its legit. They might as well re-name and/or re-theme Frontierland at this point if this happens as the whole area will be a thematic mess. Honestly, they probably should've done it when they built Splash. Actually, the beyond Big Thunder project should really just be a brand new Frontierland or whatever 21st Century name they come up with and retrofit original Frontierland into New Orleans.

It’s right across the street and if they don’t touch it, TBA, which has no business being in Frontierland, is surrounded by Frontierland from every direction. Retheme the QSR or retheme BTMRR.
Nobody in the last 30 years has EVER associated Pecos Bill's with Splash Mountain. Splash and Thunder go together. Pecos Bill's and Country Bears go together.

Besides, reconstruction Georgia isn't the Old West, either. TBA is no more thematically out of place than Splash Mountain was.
