Party Season 2021

Opening a brand new attraction and premiering a new Fireworks show in the same park on the same day sounds like a recipe for bonkers crowds.

Which doesn't necessarily mean they won't do it, but I suspect they're gonna need to see a much better prognosis for the fall before committing to a move like that.
Not if that day is also the 50th anniversary of a older sister park and said park also debuts a new night show on the same night.

I agree. Originally pre covid, and maybe I’m wrong on this, Harmonious was going to debut last October?
I believe so.

DHS only has F! which won’t be that a big draw unless it features new things and DAK has no nighttime show... unless WDW pulls something out of the hat last minute.
Fant will continue to be as big a draw as it always is. Upgrades or not.

New show? Doubtful. Special tag? Maybe.

Sorry my memory is a bit foggy today lol, was there originally a new show planned pre covid? Or was it still going to be a Special tag? Think you had said a parade was, pre covid, in the plans, but I forgot about HEA.

I think a lot of posters are drastically over estimating how much Disney cares about crowding on Oct 1st...

My guess is things will improve to the point Disney can start aggressively marketing by the end of June. Disney will then start marketing Remy to the out of state crowd that books 3 months out (hence holding it back until October). Disney will also start marketing the return of HEA mid summer to the more in state crowd that can book 1 month out, with HEA returning in August, drawing locals back one day out of staters all go back to school. I’d hold Harmonious out until the beginning of the holiday season.

To make this post on topic, I’m bearish on not so scary returning, but I’m very bullish on the Christmas parties.

Ah ok. So HEA was likely still staying, but enhanced somehow? Sounds like they were trying to do what Disneyland did for their 60th focusing on nighttime entertainment?
Yeah, we were saying years ago it would be a HEA update due to the show’s popularity.

At this point, I’d be happy with just HEA...I’m desperate for fireworks behind the castle.

I wonder if Epcot could get a Holiday Party? With a parade or street party like DCAs Mickey’s Happy Holidays. They already used that song last year at Epcot for the Mickey and Friends Cavalcade. Then they could do a Holiday version of Harmonious, something like WoC Winter Dreams.

Well, this was eerily prescient...

What's the current best guess on Rat? We are going in late October as well.

We don't know.

Insiders have been saying March to May (more towards March).

But... there are signs that WDW might not want to open Rat earlier than later due to giant queues that come from distancing.

But... WDW had been saying "Summer."

But... there was previous talk of waiting until fully opening after COVID restrictions are gone.

But... no one knows when that will be. Lot's of guessing based on rate of vaccinations and when we hit herd immunity.

But... herd immunity, while brought about by immunizations, is not a "known known" for this *novel* virus. It could be 60% immunizied, or 70%, or 80%.

And we know that insider knowledge can become undone if Disney changes their minds. Which they do even outside of the uncertainties of a pandemic. Even more so now.

So... best guess is not to guess.

BTW, it's the same answer for "when are we going back to normal?" "When can we stop wearing masks?" "When will there be fireworks again?" "When will the party nights begin?"

Let's make this easy... it's the answer to ever question that begins with "When will...?"

They shouldn't lift anything until everyone who wants the vaccine is able to get it. It will be impossible to social distance if they raise capacity anymore, it's already near impossible in certain areas of every park.
Joe says that May 1st is the deadline he wants Americans ages 18 and older to be able to get vaccinated.

Yes. Putting aside for the moment Biden yet again picking something that was already going to happen and making an aspirational goal out of it, I think we need to make clear that he said that's the date he wants all adult Americans to be eligible to be vaccinated. However, the current timeline is still that the United States will actually have enough vaccine doses on hand for all adults by the end of May. Between that and the simple logistics of time involved in getting people in to places to be vaccinated, I think the beginning of July is probably a reasonable target at this point for saying that anyone who wants a vaccine and will make the effort to get there and get it should be able to have been vaccinated. And at that point, I'm in the camp who believes it's time to go back to 100% normalcy.

I’m on board for 90% normalcy. Idk if I ever want to really go back to the before times where people are constantly bumping into you in lines. I’d also like to see masks for people that are sick, and people not feeling bad to stay home and actually use a sick day if they’re sick (or even work from home). There are so many days looking back that I came into the office with a moderate/severe cold that I don’t think should be normal.

Before Covid19, cast members were reprimanded for calling in sick with a point system. They would lose their job if they called in sick too many times plus they could afford missing work. Most would come in sick.
Right now, they aren’t being dinged for calling in sick but that will end once the current Union agreement ends.

That’s what I’m saying. That’s not what “normal” should be.

I think so too but now they have many cast members call in “sick” because they won’t be penalized for not coming into work because they don’t feel like it. The cast members who never miss get penalized. It’s a flawed system.
