Driving home, listening to Radio365 (Mouseworld Radio 2), a thought struck me:

If you had to choose only one park's music to listen to for the rest of your life, which park would it be? Any and all music/soundtrack/background sounds would be available, but only from one park.

I'd pick Epcot!

The 1994 Spaceship Earth and Horizons soundtracks made it a tough choice, but in the end I chose the Magic Kingdom. The Space Mountain Star Tunnel, Grim Grinning Ghosts, and Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life For Me sealed the deal.

It's gotta be Magic Kingdom. I can't get enough of Main Street USA (Paragon Ragtime Orchestra FTW!!!), Frontierland Area Loop, Splash Mountain Area Loop, BTMRR Area, even the ToonTown tracks on "WDW Forever" are great!!! Not to mention the great music for "Wishes," "Main Street Electrical Parade" (Baroque Hoedown is the greatest piece ever written), "SpectroMagic..." The attractions too! I could listen to Haunted Mansion riff OVER and OVER for days. The great jazz classics in line for Jungle Cruise, POTC soundtrack, you just can't beat this stuff.

What is sad to me is how little of the identity of the Studios or Animal Kingdom is tied in with music. Sure, there is some good background music scattered throughout both of those parks but nothing even approaching the iconic levels achieved in EPCOT or the Magic Kingdom.

As much as I love so much of the MK music, I think I could listen to nothing but the EPCOT Entrance Loop and An Evening At Epcot on D-______ radio and I would be just fine....probably throw on each at least once a week...

Edit: Apparently I can't say D - C O T Radio, despite Mouseworld Radio being in the OP...weird...

I had the same thought before I answered my own question. I actually love the Animal Kingdom CD, the music is very relaxing and atmospheric, but it is in no way iconic or, for me at least, tied to any single memory inside the park. The only time I recall hearing the music found on the cd is at then entrance.

Interesting to think about how big of a role the music of a park plays in your enjoyment of said park.

Magic Kingdom's soundtrack might get a little saccharine after a while. After all, it would include the cliché of annoying songs, "It's a Small World (After All)."

Epcot, on the other hand, has a rich diversity of international music, stuff rooted in reality, not in lollipops and cotton candy. And its new age/classical selections are superb. Gotta go with that.

Have you heard the AK soundtrack that is sold in the parks? It's pretty epic and sets the mood for AK perfectly.

That would be the one i chose. Then it would be DHS second.

Oh and btw I know I will most likely be flamed but the themes from Universal's Islands of Adventure are IMO the best theme park music in central florida. I advise everyone to listen to that album on youtube.

This is TOUGH...when I look at my playlists though I see a bit more Epcot so that would have to be my preference.

Illuminations alone would win it but throw in Innoventions bgm and the main entrance bgms and it is epic. Magic Kingdom has some great music too (Adventureland bgm anyone?) but if theres only a choice of one-Epcot!

I agree 100%, that's why I choose EPCOT.

I agree with you guys completely that the music in the other two parks are not "Iconic", but I do believe that the other two need recognition. Im guilty of choosing Epcot, but I have to defend the underdogs.

Hollywood Studios:

Would it be a shocker if I said right now the studios is the best true to theming and story park outside of Magic Kingdom, and much of that has to do with the area music.

In no particular order:
1. The Tower of Terror area music is arguably the best "theme" music around, not only does it accurately coincide with the time period but it provides that eerie tone needed in order to set the scene.
2. The sunset boulevard is amazing as well, does a great job putting you right in 1920's/30's Hollywood.
3. The Great Movie Ride area music does an excellent job compiling great themes and scores from the greatest movies ever. Not just movies included in the great movie ride!
4. The animation courtyard theme is wonderful, always has me humming, great to hear the themes of animated classics
5. Muppet Vision 3d's much like Animation Courtyard gets me humming as well.
6. ABC Commissary with its sitcom and old tv show themes is always fun to play name that show!

I know im missing some, but these are the favorites

Animal Kingdom:

I think one reason Animal Kingdom's music is overlooked is because its muffled by the hustle and bustle of the park. If one stops and listens they will find that the Animal Kingdom has some of the greatest music (theme and setting wise) on property.

Again in no particular order
1. The entrance music is amazing not only sets the scene, but includes some classic tracks from Adventureland.
2. The music found in the Oasis is so calming and relaxing many in the rush to get to the "Park" fail to realize what the beauty of the combination of the music the plants and the animals create.
3. The area music in both Pizzafari and Flame Tree BBQ are both unique but no less spot on in theming. If youve never heard this area music i suggest going and listening, again some of the best on property.
4. Love the music in Asia especially by Kali and Everest.
5. The CTX theme! and the area music in and around dinosaur are tremendous reminds me alot of Epcot Music.

Again leaving some out but I could go on forever (if I havent already)

Im guilty of picking Epcot, but I felt like I should defend the music of both Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. Its really hard for me to choose the best park for music, Walt Disney World does a great job in bringing theming and music together to create that atmosphere that you emerse your senses in.

:wave:Lets add resort to this list only to make the voting fair, dont get me started on the Wilderness Lodge area loop:sohappy:

I will slightly side with Mk over EPCOT because there is a large variety and so many classics. COP, Tiki, POC, HM, SM, and Small World have songs that jut have been part of the disney magic. Add to that the different background music and noises that create the different themes.

True that, but could there be any music that would fit for the two main streets in DHS?
