News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

It was that way before he came on board. He's just following the same money trail his predecessors did.

I will give Chapek credit for getting Iger to invest heavily in the parks. P&R has been on a roll with new parks, resorts, attractions, and experiences in the last few years, and for the most part the work they've producing is much better than it was a decade ago.
Fair enough. Admittedly, its hard to remember what things were like "before" since we're so focused on what is now.

I guess we should be appreciating the parks now, pre-SWL. Because then all hell is going to be unleashed.

I'm just over here hoping Paradise Park gets an AP exclusive pin. But seriously, is Paradise Park now the worst land in any Disney park? Probably not because it gets saved by Paradise Gardens. But still it's the forgotten step child of Paradise/ Pixar Pier with 4 off the shelf flat rides and Mermaid. As part of the Pier it was fine but on its own it's just a sad excuse of a "land." They took the weakest part of the old land and made it its own land.

It's better than when it was Route 66 or whatever they called it with the giant pink dinosaur.

Anyway since it's not big enough for a real new land, I don't think a Grizzly Peak expansion is possible and considering its location along the bay, this must mean a Pixar Pier phase 2 is coming. There's no way Paradise Park is a long term thing.

Oh dear.

The style of the IncrediCoaster queue is incredibly out-of-place, and the unthemed ride now has a random franchise name slapped on it. This is not just DCA-1.0-like, this is Six-Flags-like. The coaster will hardly pass as a classic pier ride anymore, now it'll have no idea how it belongs in this park, or any Disney park for that matter. Same with the land as a whole. This is one of the most idiotic changes in Disney parks history.

I'm going to quote the great Robert A. Iger, who wisely said "Anytime you do something mediocre with your brand, that's a withdrawal." This is a brand withdrawal at its finest.

Yeah, this is probably the lamest thing Disney has ever done in their history of theme parks.

And considering this history includes attractions such as Stitch's Great Escape and Superstar Limo, that's saying quite a lot.

You guys act like Pixar Pier is going to ruin Disney and make them lose money... it's not, it's only going to bring in more money for them. Don't know why people think Chapek is making bad decisions that will hurt the company, because new things such as Mission Breakout (far exceeded expectations, by the way) will only attract more. Also, you may have hated announcement of Mission Breakout and thought that Chapek is ruining the company.. Well not only did it bring more money for them, it's supper popular and wait times are usually way longer than ToT. Same thing will happen with Pixar Pier. I think Disney is going into the right direction (new offerings, changing things up) and while you may think what they're doing is wrong, I'm sure they have some kind of master plan for the future of DCA so in the long run it will all play out smoothly.

trust the imagineers, they know how to make pixar pier 100x better than paradise pier, they'll know how to make it fit in. also, they know the future of DCA and we don't so stop making assumptions.

I'm sure the Imagineers do know how to make something 100x better than Paradise Pier, but honestly tell me that shotgun blasting Pixar on everything was the single best idea they had...of course, I also hope we're not dealing with the same Imagineers who helped create Paradise Pier in the first place.

What is more likely, is that they were given a mandate to change the pier to Pixar and this is the best they came up with given their budget and time constraints. This project isn't a re-imagining so much as it's like spraying Febreeze to cover up a bad smell.

I'd say Critter Country is at the top, or near the top, of that list. It's yet another land that makes little sense. Also if anyone can understand the mess of lands at DSP let me know.

I'm gonna second Critter Country. It's so sad and just...there. Pooh is a joke. Splash is the only thing worth your time, and as MiceChat likes to frequently point out, its in serious need of a refurb. They might as well just call it what it is...the gateway to SWL.

To be Honest I always like Paradise Pier but never for it's theming. I always liked it because it was a pleasant place to walk around especially at night or dusk. It also has a lot of kinetic energy. But the theming was always weak. I've never really felt that I was at some old time seaside Pier. Especially after they added the Disney and Pixar characters everywhere. The Victorian theming is pretty weak in most areas. So I don't see this a huge thematic downgrade except for Screamin and the name of the land itself. It really didn't need a name change (the marketing dept wouldn't be too happy bout that) or the new boundaries (Paradise Park). Especially since the Mickey face is staying. Anyway, like I said I don't see it as a huge downgrade. You already have have characters slapped all over the attractions anyway. What old time sea side Pier would we have found Disneyfied flat rides all over the place? I'm more disappointed in the decisions to continuously IPify every square inch if the park instead of creating something new and fresh and in theme.

You guys are losing me. There are so many sad corners of Tomorrowland. Critter Country might need new lightbulbs, but it doesn't need a re-imagining.
