What's hilarious about this project is that even the people working on it at WDI hate it. Get a clue, execs!
Any idea where it originated? A wine cellar? What's hilarious about this project is that even the people working on it at WDI hate it. Get a clue, execs!
I wouldn't be surprised if this was all hashed out over drinks at the Carthay. With a strongly inebriated Lassetter steering the conversation. They probably just broke the news to him that they might need to cannibalize parts of Bugsland for Marvel and that got him all worked up.Any idea where it originated? A wine cellar?
My only real concerns with this is that if its successful in the companies eyes (which, basically means, if its completed), then it spells the strong possibility of having Chapek take over for Iger in 2019...
Why not? There doesn't seem to be anyone else.Huh? Nothing I've read about Disney's succession plans indicate that he's even being considered. I don't think the Board or Wall Street would view him as a qualified candidate, would they?

I admit its speculation, and I'm certainly not jockeying for him, but I think he's in a strong position to make the change.
...and yet they let him run the parks....Yeah I doubt it. Maybe someone with better insight can weigh in. Chapel is a consumer products guy with no Studio or finance experience that I'm aware of. He's also not a VP, a title that Staggs had when he was being groomed for the CEO spot.
I agree. I'm sure Disneyland is printing money in Iger's eyes due to all the cheap overlays and upcharges so I would not put it past him for a second that he would make Chapek CEO. He seems like a mini-Iger already. Why not? There doesn't seem to be anyone else.

You say that as if Chapek has done anything wrong. In Disney's eyes, he's doing everything right. Turning niche attractions into widely successful ones (and creating revenue streams to boot)? Come on. He's the one Iger wants.Honestly I see Chapek being ousted from Disney in early 2018 and replaced by someone else
...and yet they let him run the parks....
Jay Rasulo was the last Chairman with prior industry experience....and yet they let him run the parks....
haha yeah, because he is literally treating the park like a consumer products vending machine...just more interactive.LOL. FWIW It isn't unusual for product people to have senior positions in Disney's P&R division. And to be fair the bottom line is looking pretty good for the business he's overseeing.
I think Disney has high expectations for Pixar Pier and I don't see those expectations being met.You say that as if Chapek has done anything wrong. In Disney's eyes, he's doing everything right. Just like their high hopes for MB and Summer of Heroes?I think Disney has high expectations for Pixar Pier and I don't see those expectations being met.

Summer of Heroes was a pretty big dud.Just like their high hopes for MB and Summer of Heroes?
