I’m not sure how dead evil villains are a good comparison? Are we supposed to feel sorry for them? I don’t think consistency was @Rich T ‘s point. More a comment on what’s in good taste or not. Besides, are the theme parks supposed to pick up where all the movies left off? Their would be no villains. Most of them would be dead. Their would be no conflict. Ariel wouldn’t be a mermaid. Pinocchio would be a real boy. It’s not a theme parks job to be a living sequel. When IP is used, it should be used effectively so that one is experiencing the world the stories take place in and feeling those emotions. A theme park or attractions job isn’t to be a book report or a sequel.

actually i have,

they sold Bambi with his Mom stuff toys before and they sold Mufasa toys as well. also non of those characters had such a dominating roll in the movie as this character.
even all the villians have pretty much died and been heavy merchandise sellers.
Nobody is saying they shouldn’t sell Bing Bong merch at all. Joking aside, it’s just kind of tasteless to make an entire store based on the premise of selling his tears and immortalizing the scene of his death in the form of an ostensibly lighthearted statue. You would never see a statue of Mufasa being trampled by Wildebeests.

There is though the disturbing Ad Council billboard of Mufasa and Simba that reads “Take time to be a Dad,” because you never know when your brother will murder you.

Have you ever seen Mufasa, Bambi’s Mom, Nemo’s Mom, Tarzan’s parents, Carl’s Wife or any other good/heroic character who died tragically in a Disney/Pixar film used to hawk merchandise in a Disney park before this? I sure hope not.

Have you seen Inside Out? The Pixack Pier shop is as appropriate and tasteful as an Old Yeller dog treat store featuring Gummi Rabies.
Meanwhile, at grocery stores across the US...

His sacrifice saved Riley and the movie had a happy ending. His memory was actually a good one. There’s nothing tasteless about Bing Bong and I’m sure the candy is tasty.

Since when is deaths in animated movies tragic? This is a new low in fan criticism.

What more is there to say?

Throw all of Pixar Pier in the dumpster.
You gotta love how terrible Pixar Pier is. The one thing everybody can agree on. It really brings people together.
I certainly wouldn't defend it.

it is god awful. the jack jack on a stick clearly shows how this is very much a low point in time for Disney Imagineering. now maybe they went cheap because they are going all in on star wars land to make It the best thing Imagineering has ever done, and they saved the A TEAM for that project and Pixar Pier got the Imagineering interns or something? we will see but based on Pixar pier Imagineering has to be given a F for that project.
I will now have to avoid that store like the plague. Didn't like the character, I think I'd pop my own eardrums just to not hear this thing...it's really quite hideous.
The Chapek era in a nutshell.

I also wanted to use this opportunity to say that I invented the word IPportunity.
I just rode the Incredicoaster, and that was just a terrible decision. In the queue, there is a video talking about "synergy". But the worst part was Jack Jack on a stick. Not only is it cheap, you can barely see it because you're going so fast. Nice job Chappie.

Gaston’s Tavern isn’t built around imagery of Gaston falling to his death. Le Fou’s Brew isn’t made of tears. The problem isn’t Bing Bong, it is the specific imagery focused on his sadness and death.

We can visit the Beast's castle while he and his servants are cursed and time is running out. Heck, we can eat in the West Wing and watch his flower wilt.

I will like to mourn the loss of the "Adventure is Down There" Billboard at Pixar Pier.

Rest in Peace.

They moved the Coco billboard to the location of the Up billboard, and then completely got rid of the 4th billboard.

thats a pretty bold comment especially since the lines form it have been pretty steady.
i see several issues with the ride and parts of it are underwhelming but its not that bad and people actually seem to enjoy it.

i do think that this overlay would have been a good ride for more tunnel projections and maybe even added mists to help hide some of the sunlight from that ruins the tubes purpose though.
of course there are the bad choice of jack jack sticks instead of airblown puppets
I think the ride overall is more interesting than it was previously...really the only thing that is poorly executed is Jack Jack on sticks.
