News Paradise Pier Becoming Pixar Pier

Toured Pixar Pier today and rode the Incredicoaster.. Some thoughts:

The whole area looks nice and is definitely an upgrade from what was there before. However some areas just leave more to be desired either because they're incomplete or just don't seem to have a cohesive feel. The carousel being walled off is a terrible eyesore, and Bing Bong's is behind walls and scrim. TSMM new entrance area and queue looks terrible. It's still completely made up of chains, contrary to the concept art that showed permanent guiderails, and it just doesn't seem complete (even though it is). TSMM Interior hasn't been repainted to match the exterior. Looks awful. Poultry Palace was still being worked on, but it looks like it should be finished by tomorrow. Otherwise everything else looks great, especially the Pixar Promenade area (minus Bing Bong's, of course). The Pal-a-Round marquee is beautiful. Boardwalk Games are the exact same games as they were before, just reskinned. Was kind of hoping for completely new games, but I don't play them anyway, so not really a loss. Lots of new seating areas in the Promenade that look really nice.

Incredicoaster was great as well, although the Violet and Mrs. Incredible tubes will look much better at nighttime. Kind of disappointing during the day. The queue and station look amazing. I will say that I still felt like I was riding Screamin and the theming and storyline still couldn't get that out of my mind. The Edna Mode figure was disappointingly not an AA like I had hoped it'd be. The ending scene is really cute, though. Overall, the coaster is a nice upgrade from what it once was.

Should I watch the ride through or wait until I experience it myself in the summer? I'd like to complain early so I'm the first one to explain why it sucks.

It’s about as underwhelming as you expected. They couldn’t even get the mannequin figures to move a little bit which would go a long way. Everything screams they didn’t have enough time or money.

They didn’t show everything though so maybe after the run through the helix the track leads into a massive secret show building with an elaborate show scene with dozens of sophisticated AAs. Or maybe not.

I actually think it looks cute and the score sounds like it will be a blast. Edna should have been an AA.

I'm also off seeing the movie yesterday, so I'm kind of digging the Parr family right now.

The Bob's finally having their synergy timing down it seems. Something I know was criticized to high heavens when Frozen was released.

Definitely wish Edna was an AA...

Wow, that's pretty crud-tastic. I knew it would be cheap, but I thought at least it would be more energized.

The incredicoaster looks like a miss, but I will say that some of the architectural changes to the Pier do look like positives. One hopes that if (when) the Pixar overlays are removed, that will at least improve the overall quality of the land.

Looks fine - this is the level I expected. I actually think the disappearing/reappearing Jack-Jack effect on the walls of the first show scene works really well! And I love me any Giacchino over bad surfer synth any day.
Hey, that was George Wilkins surfer synth and it was awesome! I’ll be curious to hear it in its entirety, but at the moment the Incredicoaster score seems to lack the energy and build-up of Space Mountain or Screamin’.
