Blue Bayou has atmosphere and the food is much better than the overhyped lobster nachos. I would rather have a filet and lobster tail in the beautiful blue bayou over a couple overpriced mediocre appetizers in the $hitty lamplight lounge atmosphere for almost the same price.

I can't say I've ever had "good" food at Blue Bayou. Things are edible, but it was clear we were paying for the ambiance, not the tiny tasteless portions. Then, if you sat in the rear of the restaurant, your ambiance is the sunlight coming in from the large open lobby area. Blue Bayou is near the bottom of my list of restuarants. Great atmosphere (if you're near the water), but the food is bland, the menu is limited, and the prices are way too much for what you get.

The Lobster Nachos taste decent, aren't too expensive, AND you can have a drink while you enjoy them. Blue Bayou, you're having a $30 dinner with a soda. Yay.

Plus the only beverages they offer to go with dinner are lemonade, soda, and those nasty non-alcoholic mint juleps. No thank you.

When did you eat at Blue Bayou and what did you eat exactly? Restaurants are very fickle and quality can not only change from year to year but night to night. I was there I believe 2-3 years ago and found the filet mignon and lobster tail to be tasty. Not the best I’ve had of either of course but tasty. Just about the best food you can find inside the parks for dinner. The atmosphere, especially on the water, takes the experience to the next level. Also, I don’t think anyone is expecting world class dining inside the parks. At the hotels maybe but inside the parks I think a good dinner at Blue Bayou is about as good as it gets when you consider overall experience.

As far as price, Cove Bar / Lamplight and Blue Bayou are get comparable after the recent price increases. The fact that the OP is traveling to DLR for 9 days and staying onsite makes me believe they the not worried about spending another $10-$15 for a better meal/ experience.

So if someone from the other side of the world was going to DLR for the first and last time for one night and asked you if they should eat at Blue Bayou or Lamplight for dinner which restaurant would recommend? If you say the latter you re lying.

I've only been to Blue Bayou once and while Steakhouse 55 was better, I still thought the food was really good and worth the price.

Also, believe it or not but the food I get at a local restaurant where I live is the same price as Disney table service. Blue Bayou is average price for a meal for me.

I say go to Lamplight Lounge anyway and check it out. No one on this forum has been there, experienced the atmosphere, tasted the new food. Form your own opinion about it in real life and don’t listen to people who haven’t even been there.

LOL exactly! Don't bow down to peer pressure over internet cynics whose never even walked in the place before. Thats the problem with the internet, its starts to feel like a groupthink.

Personally I think it looks great! I doubt I will ever go there because the prices are ridiculous to me but it looks like a great place to have a beer and sit around by the bay. The problem with the Cove bar was the problem with most of DCA 1.0, it just looked and felt like a cheap after thought. The Cove bar was just a bunch of steel tables and chairs, no real thought to the place. Lampost Lounge looks really inviting. And yes I'm certain there will be people there taking selfies. So what, don't worry about them, just focus on what you do everything will be fine.
