IMO, I think we need to be careful to draw a clear line between actual, harmful bullying and simply being a harsh critic.
Frankly, I think we've somehow convinced ourselves as a society that nowadays, criticism in ANY form is to be viewed as a bad thing. Most artists and creatives are encouraged to simply, "ignore the haters" point blank, even if that "hater" might have a valid critique to offer. "They don't like or agree with what you're doing/saying? Just ignore them! Clearly they're just mean, stupid bullies!" Furthermore, I also think society today has bred egos that are a bit too fragile, especially among the lesser "celebrities".
By contrast, taking from a discussion on the SWL thread, the actress who played Rose was getting bullied to the point where threats were being made to her person. THAT is disgusting and egregious and totally unnecessary. I don't think any of that was going on here, or ever has to me recollection.
