Walt Disney said a lot of things, and I love that quote. But, in the end, Disneyland--through Walt's lifetime and onward to--I guess the opening of Bear Country--was about Things Walt Disney Liked. It was the most appropriately-named park on Earth.

He was always saying stuff like that because, at that time, everything was overly America America America (sound familiar?). Keep in mind, WW2 ended only 10 yrs before DL opened. People take so many quotes and events out of context without looking at what the world was like at the time they occurred. Same goes for Disneyland itself, which is something I point out all the time on here. DL during Walt's era in the 50s and 60s existed virtually in completely different universe than the one we live in today.
