Also the sun is officially gone from the loop and the scream tube up there is enclosed and getting extended for its show scenes.

I was looking at it the other day. They have extended all of the tubes quite a bit, and then enclosed the sections that use to be partially open. The "show scene" portions of this ride are obviously a major part of the refurb, and will really change the ride experience.

Pixar Pier is a drunken John Lasseter mess, but the Incredicoaster show scenes should be a big improvement over the non-show past corrugated metal and stucco walls, with a nice view of the Anaheim Convention Center and Coco's on Katella, that California Screamin' was.

The Incredicoaster could be the sleeper hit of Pixar Pier.

I feel that The Incredicoaster is an upgrade of California Screamin' and the entrance to the land is an upgreade, but everything else is stupid.

Am I the only one who'd rather just enjoy a good coaster without watching the Incredibles try to catch their stupid baby? Every. Single. Time?
(EDIT) Gee, maybe that's the point. Maybe Disney doesn't *want* repeat riders. Less wear on the coaster. More time shopping.

Yep. The story was that you were riding a (fake) "classic woodie" at a (fake) California seaside pier. Aside from the uninspired queue and equally boring boarding platform nothing was missing from the ride's theme. Adding a linear narrative based on Pixar characters was completely unnecessary. Well I guess it was necessary if Disney wants to advertise its latest movie release... forever.

I'm trying very hard to hold off on forming my final judgement until it opens, but to me this whole Pixar Pier business feels like a waste of effort and money.

I guess it’s better to ride on roller coasters where there’s no story, but then there’s the complaining about lack of story. Why is this a bother? It’s not like you can’t ignore it. How many times have you seen the eyes of Mara? If you don’t actually want to ride it, seems like it’s sensible to not go, but you assume everyone else is inclined to do the same. I highly doubt it.

You should definitely spend more time at the Lamplight Lounge.

I hear you... but you do realize you're talking about a sum of maybe 5-10 seconds of a 2 minute long ride, right?

Since when do coasters need stories? Screamin’ was fine the way it was.

I'm pretty sure most people living in the western US would recognize this as Diseyland Resort if not specifically DCA.

I also recognize it as higher quality then the poop that’s replacing it. Bring on the classy happy meal box food kiosks and other junk

Until the ride opens, I can't review the experience, but so far everything about the overlay just sounds so unappealing, obnoxious and--as so many have said--unnecessary. People loved Screamin' just the way it was. Now I'm waiting for the "Stinky Pete" overlay of Big Thunder and Tomorrowland's new "Buzz Mountain."

I am confident that the Incredicoaster will be less popular than California Screamin'. And I've never predicted that about a theme park ride change before.
We might hate it, but I promise you it'll be popular with the general public. Chapek is just giving the people what they know they want (which is the exact opposite of Walt's philosophy, but that's for another discussion).

Chapek is *not* giving the people "what they know they want." NOBODY asked for this. Just about EVERYONE loved Caliornia Screamin' just the way it was. People will still ride it, because at its heart its still a good coaster, but they would have ridden it before the overlay anyway. And anyone coming to DCA expecting it to be a new ride is going to be ticked off. I can't speak for everyone, but judging from the reactions of of casual-fan family members, friends and co-workers, the general reaction to Incredicoaster has been "Huh?" "Why?" and "What an awful name."

No one asked for this. No one wanted this.
