I think he might be trying to say he’s a CM.

The question is still the same, does this person know of an actual announcement that will be made shortly of closure in Jan. Doesn't matter to me if this person works in Bugs Land or is in WDI. If this is just employee gossip that is one thing (plenty of that gets pushed out to different forums), but if an actual announcement is coming that is what is important.

Can’t help you there. Lol. However, it sounds very possible. I will say a re theme of Fliks Flyers for the first Inside Out Attraction sounds very blah. It would have been nice to see some sort of a different ride system for DLR like Maters. With that said maybe the way they design the inside of that helix takes it up a notch or two? After all, that’s what really separates a good flat ride from a bad one.

On another note, assuming Fliks does close in January, I’m guessing the entire land wouldn’t be closing too long after that. Maybe in July after Pixar Pier opens. @Will476 any rumor on a Bugs Land closing date?

That doesn't mean anything. The first Latina princess, in my opinion, would get an attraction long before a movie about Dia De Muertos. Not saying Coco isn't good or doesn't deserve a place in the parks, I just feel the first Latina princess should get an attraction first.

I have no idea who Elena is. Many guests only know Disney from the movies they put out, not their daytime programming. And is Elena an official Disney Princess or just a Princess by Disney?

I would venture to guess that most parents of children of Disney Junior age know who Elena is. Just like they know Sophia who is from the same universe as Elena. Which is why she is over in DCA where Disney Junior is represented. So just because you don't know her doesn't mean she is not known. If being known was the basis for things, we wouldn't still have Mr Toads or Splash Mountain as those properties are not likely known by the public at large.

As for part the official Disney Princess line, no she is not. But then again they only count those from the films and then not even all of those, there are only 11 official ones.

Most people who visit Disney parks don't necessarily have children of Disney Junior age. As for comparing her to Splash and Mr Toad, both of those are actual films with proper budgets whereas Elena is cheaply made tv show teaching children how to count or something. Further, those were built during different managements. Current management won't build something that isn't going to bring in as many people as possible. Splash would never be built under Iger or Chapek.

Mr. Toad is literally a 30 minute segment from a double feature -- the other segment having nothing to do at all with the ride or the story of Mr. Toad. And Splash Mountain is loosely based on a movie the company has erased from history. Not saying we need an Elena ride, but I think you severely underestimate the amount of eyeballs viewing and revenue generated by these kids' TV shows.

I'm still waiting for the Hanna Montana Rock'n Roller Coaster ride. Where is that wrecking ball?

Disney Jr. (and, for that matter all Disney Channel) productions are here-today gone-tomorrow properties that will be soon forgotten by the company, even if they were big hits in their time. Bear in the Big Blue House, anyone? Jojo's Circus? These are very short-lived IPs.

The current Disney balks at spending money creating an attraction based on a mega-hit movie like Zootopia. The chances of them using that budget on a pre-school show character are zero.

(EDIIT) And, seriously, we have to stop bringing up the Mr. Toad argument. The Disney that created Mr. Toad's Wild Ride doesn't exist anymore. The current Disney would never, ever, ever create an attraction based on Mr. Toad or any other property that isn't current and super-popular. That's just the (sad) reality at Disney now.

Um, but they already used a budget on a pre-school show character. She has her own parade and M&G. So she already has a presence in DCA.

Just for clarification, I never said it was a for sure thing that Elena would be getting an attraction. I just said in my opinion that Elena would get one in DCA before Coco ever did. Which means to say I don't think either of them will get their own attraction anytime soon.

Whoops, sorry if I misinterpreted, I'm just referring to attractions, not shows/parades and M&Gs.

But...Coco vs. Elena? Let's look five years into the future (I'm going to pretend I can actually do that). Elena will most likely be largely forgotten and replaced by Disney Jr.'s latest hit. Coco will probably be a well-liked, widely-known film, streamed zillions of times. If someone with clout at Disney really wanted to champion a Coco ride, I think it would stand a chance. Personally, I think a modest Day-of-the-Dead themed dark ride for Pixar Pier would be a good investment and a good fit. Do I think it'll actually happen? Naw.

Parents of little kids would know, but that's a small demographic. Most adults and teens wouldn't know her nor want to ride based upon a show aimed at toddlers.

Mr Toad was part of a major motion picture from 1949, only 6 years before Disneyland opened with Mr Toad in place. It was then on TV in February of 1955. So, it was pretty fresh when it was put into a darkride, especially as films would constantly get re-released to theatres due to no VHS.

Splash Mountain is based upon Song of the South, a film which saw re-release in both 1980 and 1986. Groundbreaking began a year later in 1987. Once again, still pretty known when the attraction opened.

Sure, things fade from public memory, but they were known when these attractions were planned. Elena...she isn't really known. I couldn't tell you a single thing about her. Coco, on the other hand, did very well at the Box Office not only domestically, but internationally. It also has a wide demographic from kids to grandparents, making it a much more likely candidate for an attraction.

I think both of you are underestimating the Disney Jr crowd (parents and children alike), especially since Disney Jr itself is only 6 years old. But I don't really care that much.

My only statement was that Elena is known (and continues to have a presence in DCA much larger than Coco has/had) and that I believed in my opinion she'd get an attraction before Coco. Do I think that either of them get their own attraction in DCA, no I do not. There are far more popular things that will get attractions in DCA long before either of them will get considered.

Anyways, I don't really care about this topic to debate it much further. I have no actual dog in the fight as it were. But really we should be trying to promote and request more Latino and other cultures in the parks not less but I digress.

Disney Jr might be 6 years old, but before that they had Playhouse Disney. Disney has has toddler programming for awhile and while it is cute, it doesn't last that long. Same with Nick Jr shows. Your viewers are extremely limited unlike shows/movies which appeal to 10+.

Its also a little early to be comparing park presence considering Coco just opened a week ago.

As for cultures, I'd love to see them more represented. But it needs to be because the IP or attraction calls for it, not just to get a different culture represented.
