Paint the Night @ WDW?

I've seen Paint the Night on Youtube. It is a better Parade than Main Street Electrical Parade, but the Magic Kingdom needs a different one. Magic Kingdom needs a parade that wouldn't be consider a hand me down.
And the Magic Kingdom also needs a new Fireworks show. Since "Wishes" has been in the parks for a long time. I also think "Dream Along With Mickey" needs to get replaced with a special show.

I'd hope not. It works for Hong Kong. Disneyland is debatable.

Kind of like having Block Party Bash on Main St.
I remember Disneyland had a "Move It, Shake It, Groove It!" parade years before "Mickey's Soundsational Parade" came to Disneyland.

I am in love with Paint the Night and I have been going to see at at least once a week since it opened. I'm glad to see so many posters against clones here. I am a broken record with my hate of clones. If you like something at Disneyland, come visit us. Traveling within your own country for something you love is worth it.

Anything is better than the falling apart embarrassment they're trodding out every night right now.
In my BIASED opinion... they had a popular nighttime parade...SPECTROMAGIC! and I can tell you for a fact, that it was not as broken down as MSEP is. If SPECTROMAGIC was(as they claimed) beyond updating(to LED), then why hasn't MSEP been deemed the same? Its older and falling apart, so we'll keep it and get rid of the popular parade...sounds like Disney execs with their heads up their a**es

Disney is starting to loose favor in my eyes :(

As much as I like PTN and appreciate that they've incorporated Baroque Hoedown into the music, I'd like to see something original at WDW. I know this is blasphemy to some, but I never cared for Spectro. I'd personally like to see MSEP 2.0 - a modernization of the classic.

What are the odds that Paint the Night will eventually be cloned for Florida, like MSEP was originally? I would give it a few years, just so it becomes established at Disneyland, but I don't think it is completely out of the realm of possibility. I am all for the nostalgia of MSEP, but after watching Paint the Night it's become even harder to tolerate MSEP in 2015. It's dated and you can tell.

What are your thoughts? Would you even want PTN?

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha.

Zero point Zero.

Who else thinks the Magic Kingdom should get a new show in front of the castle? Since Dream Along With Mickey's been there for almost 9 years at this point.

I've seen Paint The Night at Disneyland a couple times now. It's just gorgeously entertaining - a really fresh and fun and impressive spectacle. It looks and feels perfect at Disneyland because the extra floats and plussing up they did to it from the Hong Kong version was brilliantly installed for the Anaheim version.

Paint The Night works wonderfully at Disneyland in 2015, and it's obviously something that is from this century and headed into the future, instead of the MSEP which is from the Richard Nixon era headed into the Late Disco Era and coasting on nostalgic fumes.

I see no reason why a Paint The Night clone wouldn't work just as well at WDW's Magic Kingdom Park. Perhaps for the 50th in 2021?

However... there is the issue of the differences in allowed choreography between Anaheim and Orlando. Paint The Night dancers use quite a bit of energetic choreography that isn't allowed/possible at WDW, so there would need to be some changes if it ever goes to Orlando.

What Orlando doesn't allowed energetic choreography?

Some of our WDW insiders can explain it better than I can, but there are different unions in Disneyland that allow for more complex choreography and stunts in the Disneyland parades. Its why there's a noticeably basic Shuffle-step-shuffle appearance to the WDW parades, and why big changes are made when a parade gets moved from Anaheim to Orlando, like what happened to Block Party Bash a few years ago.

I had assumed the differences were due to climate and weather differences in Orlando, but it's been explained in other threads that it's actually an entertainment Union issue.

No wonder the parade performers didn't look as energetic in Orlando compared to Anaheim's parade performances.

You noticed? :D

Yeah, those who visit both American Disney operations notice the difference quite easily. For years I had just assumed the WDW performers were just doing slower and more basic movements because of the Florida heat and humidity. But I learned here that it's actually a union issue.

That said, the most energetic parade performers are in Tokyo Disneyland. Those CM's almost seem superhuman.

Speaking of performances and regions for Disney parks, The characters are very energetic in Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disneysea (Especially in the parades and shows such as Minnie Mouse,Marie The Kitten)

I also noticed the character interactions in Disneyland and Walt Disney World are the very similar. But that depends on the character you will be encountering. Because I remember meeting Marie at the Magic Kingdom last month and she was very energetic and gave the best hugs in the resort. To me, I think Marie is one of the best meet and greet experiences a guest can have. But that depends on the day and weather.

I remember seeing a preview of the Drum float before the parade's debut at Disneyland. I wished they used this version of the MSEP theme that can be heard at 0:40 - 0:59 which sounded better than the final version to be honest.
