Paint the night is not moving to Disney World. Stop bumping this.

A few weeks ago I heard 2 very conflicting stories about the long term plans for MSEP from 2 different sources (both have been extremely reliable in the past), which I mostly ignored because it was all a year+ out estimations. This new info about PTN leads me to believe that WDW may want the parade but DLR is not going to let it go without some serious compensation.

Things that I'm reasonably sure of:
  • DLR was not as prepared as they thought they were to keep a night parade going all year
  • DLR is happy running a parade (night or otherwise) seasonally
  • WDW knows MSEP will be retired before their 50th
  • WDW with have a new day or night parade for the 50th (but probably not both)
  • WDW does not want to be without a night parade for more that 9-12 months (9 months or less is preferable)
Personally I don't think PTN is coming to WDW ... yet. MSEP could limp along for another year or even two. And DLR could get another summer/holidays or two out of PTN. There are probably some negotiations going on right now for PTN to come to WDW to fill that post-MSEP gap but nothing is likely to come of it for a year or so.

I'd be shocked if it's not. If not well before.

Though a new build replacement is not budgeted for until near there.

So basicly WDW goes without a nighttime parade until the 50th, FOF does evening performances, or the very unlikely event happens, according to you all, that WDW convinces DL to let them borrow PTN until the 50th?

Is the picture of MK with the new hub design? I haven't been there since it was completed and was curious if this would affect it any (for the better or worse).

The width of the parade route curb-to-curb and the angle of the route's turns and curves did not change with the Hub redesign. They opened up a lot of pedestrian space and new walking paths, but the street the parade travels on did not change in dimensions or layout.

If a Disneyland parade couldn't fit in Magic Kingdom Park before the Hub redesign in 2014, it still can't fit after the Hub redesign in 2016. It's the sharp turn and narrow bridge into Liberty Square that is the weak link for Magic Kingdom.

Well it's not really convincing/borrowing if money and likely other things will be changing hands for the parade. For WDW it's a cheaper investment to "buy" PTN as a replacement than 3 to 4 years worth of repairs on MSEP.

I believe that MSEP still has another year of run they'll try to squeak out of her. Once we see more parts of it go down/break/disappear for good we'll know they are no longer spending the money on a parade that's at it's end-of-life phase; at that point PTN will likely be on the way.

DLR has to want to give it up. Why would they be interested in sending a bought and paid for parade with sky-high guest satisfaction ratings to WDW so it can die a slow miserable death and leave a hole in their schedule? You can never tell what will happen down the road, but I can imagine DLR telling to WDW to pound sand. It's not like they can't afford to buy themselves a new parade.

Watched the PTN videos on YouTube last night. Decent parade. My only question for Disney is, why use a song from Wreck-It Ralph as the main song for the parade and not feature Wreck-It Ralph? That would've easily been the best float for PTN. Instead of Lightning McQueen and Mac, replace them with Vanellope in her edible racecar and a Sugar Rush inspired float with Ralph standing at the helm showing off his bright lighted hero's medal.

Sorry, for going off topic with my nitpicking antics!

So is MSEP really retiring this fall? Or is that just the cast of MSEP feeling hopeful based on the recent news of PTN? Lol

I have heard from entertainment management that PTN will not be coming to Florida because the streets at Mk are too narrow for some of the floats to make the turns.
a person I know has been involved with parades on both coasts. MK route can handle a bigger float. He pointed out to me some areas that a guest would not know about.... that the sharpest curve the floats have to deal with is actually back stage at Disneyland, the back stage turn around at near the front of Disneyland and the turn coming from Disneyland parade storage, over the DLRR tracks to the small world gates, specifically the turn right at the DLRR tracks. The turn from liberty square to MK hub is the same turn at Main Street to Hub, its just another spoke in the wheel. The bridge is not MK's most narrow point. Appearantly that is the curve by splash mountain that takes the floats back stage. Disneyland route is actually even narrower then this between Matterhorn and Alice and Wonderland, but benefits from being pretty much a straight shot. He is speaking through experience but agrees he has not actually measured it, but all that said, he does wonder if Mac from PTN could handle that narrow curve by splash mountain. Its a bad combination of very narrow and sharp turn.

Well, that's obviously your opinion and I disagree with it. The little things you complained about are laughable, did you forget this parade was in the Magic Kingdom? Good lord.

Went ahead and fixed that for you, since you're in the mood to be petty about someone not liking what you do.

Oddly enough, it's possible not to look favorably on everything that crops up in the Magic Kingdom simply because that's where it's found. Reasons for not liking something are really, when you get right down to it, none of your business. I could say that I don't like the parade because I don't like the brand name of the LEDs in use, and you could still simply osculate my fundament.

I think some of the biggest concerns regarding Paint (possibly) going to Magic Kingdom involve storage space as well as money. The Mack float is huge.

I'm pretty sure above is the parade wharehouse for MK (I think that because you can see that supid gazebo gloat that has to make an appearance in every seasonal parade) but what I don't know is that do they store every parade in there. I heard that they had to toatally reorganised the parade storage because the FoF floats where so big.

Things that I'm reasonably sure of:

What I hope they do is retire MSEP soon and put it in proper storage and fix it up. Then they can bring it out on special events such as 4th July, maybe thanksgiving etc. For the 50th I hope we get a night parade, as I'd rather see FoF run for a while as it is a great parade(I personally think it is the best parade Disney has ever done)

Just a side note I also hope we get a wishes replacement for the 50th too.

That's too bad. I'd really love to see this parade, because I saw it on YouTube and it looked amazing. If you have the paintbrush wands, sometimes costumed people will come to you and tap their paintbrush onto yours. How cool is that?

Yeah that's the storage building for the electrical parade and the seasonal floats. The big building is storage and the smaller section to the right is typically the testing area and parade queue. It has various Halloween floats in there right now. Festival of Fantasy is stored in another building by that one which is taller because it won't fit in that building.

Alrighty then Professor Ding-Dong. Like I said that is your opinion and I disagree. Your "petty" complaints about the music and the potato-face Spectromen are ridiculous when considering the fact that the parade is targeted primarily to children - which was the time I fell in love with the thing. If you would've mentioned the fact that you weren't a fan of the LED lights (if that's true), then there would've been no sense in knocking you down but hey we live and we learn.

I see.

Clearly you're still a child, if your hissyfit is anything to go by. Is this virulent reaction because you're still having some leftover trauma issues after the parade shut down?

Do you maybe need to eat your cookies, drink your juice, and take a nap? Maybe have some quiet time to "live and learn?"

Not an issue, actually. I brought it up to point out to the apparent kidlet that going off on exactly why someone doesn't like what he likes makes him look like a jerk.
Yes, I am still a child at heart. Do I miss Spectro? I sure do. However, I am fully aware that I can see it anytime on YouTube. The thing is, I don't quite understand what your whole shtick here is about. You know trying to pinpoint that I'm a jerk? :bored: I get it, you didn't like the thing. I'm sure lots of folks generally hate parades, period. All I pointed out was that this old parade was primarily for kids and was overall for families that was located at the top family friendly amusement park of the world. Your opinion really doesn't matter to how I and countless other people felt about it. :)
