The castle float has been in use at WDW (Previously DL) since 1986 making this float 31 years old! It's one of the oldest surviving floats at any Disney Park and has been at WDW for over 4 decades now.

This float will never die but Spectro rest in pieces

My memory isn't to good on this one, When MSEP was officially announced to come to WDW in 2010 for Summer Nightastic was that more of a surprise announcement that was kept quite even from our insiders? Or was it highly rumored and expected prior to the announcement?

I think it was a surprise at the time. I wasn't expecting it and I don't recall any of the insiders hinting at it.

That's what I thought but wasn't sure. Not implying history may repeat itself again with a surprise lol, at least if it did hopefully it wouldn't be MSEP coming back!

I would prefer that to the most likely scenario which is no light parade until 2021.

Pretty sure @marni1971 has answered this before but what is the current state of Fantillusion? I thought several of the floats were dismantled or destroyed? Surely they couldn't bring Fantillusion back, somewhere, without a major overhaul/rebuild correct? Seems like if that were even possible they would have returned the parade for DLPs 25th.

Running the parade in the summer months became operationally difficult with Dreams.

It doesn't go fully dark in June on a clear day until way past 11pm. In 2012 the parade was stepping off just after sunset and consequently more than half was frequently performed at dusk. Fantasy in the Sky etc were short five minute shows that could be played after the parade ran at a later time. Dreams was far longer and far more popular and was started at 11pm nightly (too late for a lot of guests It seems but still immensely popular). Even then Dreams often began under a blue sky.

Consequently Fantillusion had less that half an hour to run, including three show stops. These were often scrapped if the parade ran behind schedule, or it would be rushed through the park. I saw it fly through Town Sq one night. Very odd.

Short of starting IllumiNations at nearly midnight they don't have enough daylight for both.

Obviously I'm not Martin (though a guy has to have goals...), but AFAIK the 13 remaining floats of Fantillusion are still intact and serviceable. 15 of Tokyo's original 31 floats made it to Paris, with 2 of those floats, the Dungeon and the Grotto, were used for training and eventually used for spare parts. The Bat Forest float is still around I believe but wasn't used in the last version of the parade.

So then Fantillusion is still very much in existence and usable? Only main issue would be IF it came to the US it would require re wireing? Problem is if it did come to WDW I feel that would push a new parade Way to the back burner rather than Fantillusion being temporary until the 50th.

I'll preface this with the fact that I've heard absolutely nothing about this happening.

Yes, the electrical systems would need to be converted, and I know this was a major undertaking when the parade moved from Tokyo to Paris. I would have some concerns doing another electrical overhaul, depending on how the work was done the first time, and the type of phase controllers used within the units.

I'm sure that the floats could use a general sprucing up, and there's always the chance of damage occurring during trans-Atlantic shipping.

One final concern with this idea, and maybe I'm giving the average guest too much credit, but the parade tells essentially the same story was Fantasmic! While plenty of people would probably just see a sparkly parade and wouldn't necessarily be looking for a storyline, the Maleficent section would probably look familiar, and the princess floats in the third segment are very, very similar to Fantasmic's princess barges.

Especially after knowing the parade was made by the same team behind Fantillusion and Spectromagic.
