Packing "strange" things.

When you are packing for your trips, do you pack anything you would consider strange to bring to a major resort?
Personally, my "strange" item is toilet paper.
I just can't stand staying someplace for a week that has cheap toilet paper. You know the kind, that you can almost see through if you look through it. I've gotten in the habit of sticking a roll of my own in my suitcase before I travel.

I just got the single Keurig and I'm packing it in the suitcase and checking it in at the airport. We are also staying POR and that walk for AM coffee can be a killer and finding a good cup of coffee is really hard at the world. LOL

You're braver than I am. I would never pack something as delicate as a Keurig machine in checkd baggage. I've seen how baggage is handled going into and coming off the planes!

I thought I was being crazy obsessive when I wanted to bring my Keurig. Glad I'm not alone with that idea. I'm flying though, and I just can't figure out how to make that work. It would take up too much space in the luggage, and seems silly to spend the postage to ship it both ways. I'm not sure how I'm going to live for a week and a half without my Keurig.

When my DS moved down to work at Disney I shipped his college Keurig. It was less than $14. So $28 round trip. Think of what a WDW vacation costs, in the scheme of things what's $30? Pack shipping tape and scissors along with your favorite K's in it. A pint of something adult sold a plastic bottle for some Irish Coffee at night would fit nicely into the water reservoir!!!

I know I'm probably alone on this, but my husband and I have a Keurig, and we really don't like it. In fact it's packed away back in the box and stored in the basement.

We had one (OK two) and used them on a more than daily basis. One bit the dust (we have very hard water here and it tends to destroy them) so we startd using the drip pot again. Just as easy and a HELL of a lot cheaper - even using the uber-expensive coffee I get from Fairway markets.

Having said that, if I did drive to WDW, I think a Keureg would come with us. Coffee is about the only "weird" thing I pack. I just use the in-room pot. Most of the time we are in a 1 or 2 BR DVC unit, so it is a full sized coffee pot. We just bring our own, or if we forget, we buy a can of "Mickey's really good" coffee. It is not that bad actualy. We also bring laundry soap packets (the singe use ones) if we are staying in a DVC unit that has a washer/dryer - I don't know if that qualifies as "weird" or not.

Over 80 blank quilt blocks for signatures. My DW and children always pick something unique for characters to sign. We've done backpacks, shirts, etc.. A couple trips ago it was blank quilt blocks for the characters to sign, so she can make it into a snazzy character quilt.
A very small Christmas Tree and some small ornaments for our MVMCP trip.
A Hoth Wampa and Tauntaun my son played with on the plane (SWW trip)

Ok, mine isn't packed in a box and I only use it maybe once a day, but I'm not as enamored of it as a lot of people. It's convenient, but the per cup cost is rather expensive, so I did buy the filter to use non-Kcup coffee.

Honestly, for me, my 15 year old chrome percolator makes coffee as well, if not better.

Not just Disney, but for any hotel:

Disinfecting wipes to give the room a once-over when we get there
Toilet paper
Clean sheets to go over the hotel sheets
Own soap, shampoo, etc

And if I happen to be traveling without my wife (my dad and I usually take a trip to WDW each year, and DLR every other year), a little stuffed elephant she made me back when we were dating.

I'm actually less concerned about germs at Disney than I am at an average hotel. I figure Disney must be pretty safe, right? (Don't answer that. Please.) And if not, the germs are happy germs.

I am the SAME way with white noise! I have an app on my phone for it because anytime we travel, the rooms are too quiet! Lol
My boyfriend and I do that, too! We do a rain/wave combo.
This isn't too weird, but sometimes I'll bring lysol disinfectant spray and once I get there, I spray down the entire room including the carpet since I walk around it barefoot. I often forget to bring it though, unless my mother is around while I'm packing :)

Yeah. I guess it would cost that much for the refillable mugs for 2 of you! It's worth it especially if you were only getting the mugs for coffee!

And like most everyone else, I get weird about the sheets and stuff, so I always bring an extra sweatshirt to lay on top of my resort pillow. I would bring a pillowcase, but in my mind it's thin enough for the germs to crawl through, but the sweatshirt is thick enough to hold them back! haha

I bring some weird stuff...yep.
Like this...

Custom made WDW themed decorations for the hotel room window, custom sized to fit in said window.
Suction cups to attach said decor.
A assortment of small PVC poseable Disney character figures to line up on the window ledge.

It is quite a scene...and looks great.
I have been doing this for about 8 years now..every trip.
The EPCOT 25th themed decor i did for the room window in 2007 looked exspecially nice.

Yeah ..i know, i am a freak...but it just does not seem right not decorating that big window when i first get settled in a room on property!
Would love to see! Pics?

Ziploc bags for cell phones and wallets on water rides, 97 cent Tide single load packets from Target to do laundry, my own dryer sheets. I never thought about the TP but that sounds like a good idea. The TP there feels like sand paper.

Here we go....recent photos from last week....

This is the latest version of what i usually do for a window display at the All Star Resorts. The main collage in the center was themed to coincide with WDWs 40th Anniversary last year.

A little hard to see the photo collage in detail, but it features retro tickets and past attractions. I also slipped in a few old-school Disney things i like.

Tony Baxter*s photo was added for this trip, and this was the week before he announced his retirement from WDI. I had no idea that he was going to announce it...but now i am really glad i added Tony for this trip. Major respect for him...i should have added him years ago.

I also have photos of the EPCOT 25th display i did...i will have to dig those out and scan them. It was a similar display, but the center collage was all retro EPCOT Center only. The figures in the window were all retro 80s Disney characters and party streamers as to fit with the 25th celebration.

These displays i made to fit the window size, and to also fit my carry on bag perfectly. The larger pieces fold in half and take up very little room. The small figures and foam window sill covers also take up little room.

It has been a long time since i have seen anyone decorate their hotel window at the All Stars.
I used to see it much more often...the banner year being 2002.I remember a fan did up their window welcoming Figment back to EPCOT ( when JIIwF was opened ).
This inspired me to start decorating myself.

That's why I bring my own TP for travel. I've yet to stay in a hotel that didn't have cheap, rough, nearly see through toilet paper. TP is something I don't cheap on.

I may have to pack my pillow for the first time. If my neck kinks, I will have to be taken to a chiropractor. I will not be able to turn my head or lift my arm. The other thing is probably more common, but a bottle of rum. I cannot stand spending $8 for a drink with 2oz of liquor in it. Big Bubba mug, a little rum in it, and I can lounge at the pool watching my daughter play for a good hour or so.
