This is a MOM&DAD-ONLY TRIP!!! This is the first ever for us! Of course we have not mentioned to our kids that we are going. They probably will be mad when they learn we went without them. But we couldn’t take them out of school, and frankly, we needed a husband-and-wife only trip. It might be our first real vacation just us in our whole marriage, so ummmm, IT’S ABOUT TIME!!! So let’s get the party started!

PRE-TRIP:

Backstory:

Hello everyone and welcome to my first trip report in a while! I did the math and it had been 502 days in between our trips to Walt Disney World! That is so long!! It had been exactly 420 days since we’d been to Disneyland. So 60 weeks since we’d last stepped foot in a Disney Park of any kind!! It was weird to know we hadn’t visited one at all in 2010. But life has changed and we live all the way across the country now (literally 2 blocks from the Pacific Ocean). We got totally spoiled from 2008-2009 living on the Panhandle of Florida, visiting 5 times in that period.

Trip Journal:

Surprise!
Back in August of last year, I started to price out what it would cost for DH and me to head to Florida to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary. That fell through and then I came to peace with not going. Then my awesome, incredible, amazing husband surprised me on our anniversary day with red roses, and a really cute card with his present written inside…One trip to run a Disney Half Marathon!! Wow!

Originally I figured we’d just head down to Disneyland, then after researching when the races were, I knew I didn’t want to wait a whole year to redeem my cool gift (which is how long it would be until the Disneyland one). So I asked DH what he thought about us going to Disneyworld for the Princess Half Marathon in February. He said, “Fo sho!”

So I got to work with planning, as any good DG (Disney Geek-adopted from BigTex71) does. First, had to decide when the vacation would happen…before, after or sandwiching the Princess Half Marathon. Well I’ve run a half marathon before, and I don’t walk very well for a few days afterward. So…I figured it made much more sense to trek around the parks for several days and run the PHM on our very last day. I also figured not everyone coming to run the race would vacation before the race so hopefully the crowds would be minimal. So our tentative dates were February 20th-February 27th! Yay! One thing down. Only bummer is that this would be like week 8 of Winter Term for me for school. I just figured I’d have to work ahead the weeks prior. It’s worth it for a trip to Disneyworld!

A Day Off Property @ Disney is Better than a Day at Home!
Next I looked up places to stay and even called a Disney representative because they can search what dining deals there are and if/how you can swing military room discounts, etc. Unfortunately, Disney really couldn’t offer us much. But I was able to nail down a great reservation at an Armed Forces Vacation Club 2-bedroom timeshare for only $369 for the whole week, the same days we needed! And no, no timeshare presentation required… It’s really close by, and got great reviews from other military families we know. When I factored everything in, Disney’s deals didn’t even come close to matching the savings even if we had to rent a car. I don’t get picky when it comes to where we stay, as long as it means I’m going to Disneyworld, I’m pretty flexible. We do a lot of resort hopping while we’re at Disneyworld anyway. Maybe one day we’ll buy into DVC, and then we’ll start staying at resorts.

Next, I started to analyze park hours and extra magic hours. See, when I know we are staying off-property, I plan around EMH, specifically avoiding parks that have EMH. We also don't park-hop, we just enjoy one park per day. I came up with my outline and laid down ADRs right away. It is SO EASY to get the ADRs you want when it is only 2 people versus our usual 5. Speaking of which, we worked out childcare right around now as well. Luckily, we have a great family who are excited for us and happy to help.

Brand New Dining experiences I have plans/ADRs for:
~ Beaches N Cream (no ADR needed)
~Pizzafari or Restaurantosaurus (no ADR needed)
~Jiko
~Le Cellier
~Raglan Road
~50’s Prime Time Café
~Boston Lobster Feast (@ DH’s request)
~Artist Point
Not new: Crystal Palace (breakfast-DH’s favorite).
I’m really looking forward to all of the dining experiences. I wish we had more time/stomach room for more J

Run Like a Girl!
For the next few weeks, I watched the PHM registration status like a hawk. I knew we’d have to pay for this trip gradually but I didn’t want to end up waiting so long that we couldn’t get in…because it was the reason for the trip in the first place! We missed the first registration price, but I’m glad I waited because over the course of those weeks, DH decided he’d like to run it with me!! *swoon* He’s the best! I love him so much! So when the PHM hit about 65% full, I registered us as a team, and picked Ariel as our princess. I also started searching for cool outfit pieces to wear to make the race even more fun!

A month later, it was time to buy our plane tickets. I was glad we waited on this too because DH learned that he’s got 3 weeks of training in Mobile, AL, which starts…February 28th! The timing couldn’t be better! DH started researching and was able to fix the plane tickets so that his will be paid for since it is work-related. Woohoo!! We just won’t get to fly home together obviously. So we’ll rent a car and drive down to Disneyworld from Mobile, something we are quite familiar with (if y’all don’t remember, we lived there for 5 years prior to moving to Rainy-ville, OR last year).

So in finishing up the details, DH ordered our military tickets through the local morale office, of which he just so happens to be in charge of and it is because of him DisneyWORLD tickets are now available for order. Until recently, we could only buy the military tickets to Disneyland. Did I mention how much I love him?? Somewhere around the same time, I ordered a cute sparkly green skirt and purple running top for the PHM.

25 days out:
We receive our info packet from our resort! YAY!!! Our vacation is starting to feel that much more real. We also file our taxes which is always a nice little bonus.

Another noteworthy subject: running endurance. About 2 weeks ago, DH and I had finally gotten up to running 6 miles. Then DH pulled his calf muscle. PT says he’s out for a few weeks! Yikes! And right in the middle of our training plan. Oh well, this race’s purpose is fun! I’ve gotten back up to 7 miles so far…When I ran the Eugene Half Marathon last year competitively, I’d only gotten up to running 10 miles, and it went really well still. So I know we’ll survive even if the best we do is 7 miles. We’ll do a walk/run combo and take time for character stops and such.

24 days out:

Our WDW tickets arrive!! YAY!!
DSCN0540.jpg

We officially have all our ducks in a row! Now to just save up $$ for meals and FUN! Today it was actually sunny where we live, and I realized I don’t have any sunglasses or flip-flops. Time to go for a little vacation shopping trip. Another detail I worked out was that I booked a wonderful couple’s massage session! I researched all the different offerings on property, then went to the Niki Bryan Spas website (the company that does all of the Spa offerings in and around WDW). As it turns out, the same 50-minute couple’s relaxation massage costs $80 less just by going off property to the main spa!! I can’t wait to surprise DH with a couple’s message session! He’s going to love it. I plugged it into our itinerary for late afternoon on the second day we hit Typhoon Lagoon. *Note: It turns out I suck at surprises. I was so excited I went ahead and told DH ahead of time. His reply was a great big, mischievous smile and “NICE.”

20 Days Out:
Tomorrow we’ll actually be in our vacation month. What an amazing feeling. To tell you the truth, when we moved to Oregon, I figured we wouldn’t realistically be visiting The Happiest Place on Earth while we were here. Plane tickets for 5 are so expensive and I figured now that we live on the West Coast, we would choose destinations such as Hawaii, San Francisco or other warm places to visit while we were here. Disneyland, maybe. But here we are, as our vacation gets closer and closer, and it’s really going to happen! Brings a tear to my eye.

The closer we get to vacation, the more well aware I am that I need to start working harder on the curriculum for this term. I need to be a week ahead before we head out or I’ll be worried about school while we’re there. That is NO BUENO. No worrying while at WDW!! So starting today, I’m hitting the books hard.

See you in the next installment!

Day 7: The Moment We've Been Waiting For...The Princess Half Marathon!!!

Next we were lead to a narrower area of the course as it led past the right-had-side backstage area that the parade comes out at(if you are looking at Main Street from the RR station). Before I knew it, I was running down Mainstreet, U.S.A.!!

DSC09134.jpg

There were 'fans' cheering us on all along Mainstreet, it was soooo cool!!

DSC09136.jpg

This cute couple in front of me was dressed as Woody and Jesse. They got a LOT of great comments! They looked great!

DSC09138.jpg

That's not Cinderella's Castle...that's MY Castle! LOL
DSC09140.jpg

DSC09141.jpg

At the hub, we took a right into Tomorrowland

DSC09142.jpg

DSC09143.jpg

Up and to my right, I saw a meet n greet...it was Space Chip and Dale!! I couldn't stand it anymore and stopped to get in line. I told Ben he could go ahead if he wanted! But he waited. Right as I got in line Buzz came out and the 'Munks headed for their break. Bummer! So I continued on instead. I did get a quick picture of them anyway. That is not me though. Sorry lady, I hope you don't mind me taking a picture with you in it!
DSC09144.jpg

As we passed Tomorrowland Speedway, I saw another Meet n Greet to my left, right before you reached the TeaCups. It was Alice and the Tweedles! So I stopped. I told Ben to just go ahead, and HAVE FUN!! He did and we both had a great time even though we didn't finish the race together.

The guy took my picture as I was asking Alice, "Shall we courtsey?"
DSC09145.jpg

And so began the character picture-taking half marathon!! (meaning LOTS AND LOTS!!)

Day 7: The Moment We've Been Waiting For...The Princess Half Marathon!!!

Any time goals I had(even soft ones) were officially thrown out the window at this point. I was having way too much fun to care!! Plus it was cool to be in the Magic Kingdom for such a special occasion.

So we rounded King Arthur Carousel and what do I spy? King Mickey and Queen Minnie!! The line was pretty long, but I didn't care and I stopped.

DSC09146.jpg

They also had all sorts of lords and ladies to meet as well. One thing to mention was the way they did several meet n greets. If there were quite a few characters in a row, there would be one line to meet them all. So as you worked your way up to the front, you'd be meeting characters every few places. Does that make sense?

DSC09148.jpg

These trumpeteers welcomed runners through the castle.

DSC09149.jpg

Then finally I was really close to the front of the line, about 3 people back I think and out came Cinderella and Prince Charming and Mickey and Minnie started to leave! Oh the humanity! After I'd waited for like 15 minutes.

DSC09150.jpg

DSC09151.jpg

Thankfully, there was a somewhat aggressive girl in front of us who was just short of chasing M&M down and begging them to stay and thrusting her camera at people to try to get a picture. Thankfully, Mickey and Minnie stayed a little bit longer(and I told the character attendant thank you!)

So I got the best of both worlds...a picture with all 4!!
DSC09152.jpg

At this point I hesitated, because I'd been waiting a long time to run through Cinderella's Castle. I took a deep breath and away I went, Woohoo-ing all the way!! It was soooo awesome!!!

And I finally got a few good castle pictures that I can take away with this trip.

DSC09153.jpg

DSC09154.jpg

That's right! I'm going to show you them all because I didn't get very many good MK pictures this trip.

Day 7: The Moment We've Been Waiting For...The Princess Half Marathon!!!

After I'd run through the castle and I couldn't milk the moment any longer, I went ahead and proceeded to round right into Liberty Square. And guess what, through all the excitement, I'd reach Mile 6! What?!? I wasn't even paying attention to the mileage! There was a nice character attendant asking if we'd like him to take our picture
DSC09157.jpg

Proceeding toward Frontierland, Tiana, Naveen and Louis were to the left, but right as I went to get in line, Louis left. So I just snapped a quick picture instead.

DSC09158.jpg

The other reason I sort of rushed past Tiana and Naveen was because up to my right were Haunted Mansion Ghosts for meeting! I didn't want to miss out!

She was soooo funny! Forgive me for not knowing the names better. But she was so funny, complaining about everything and making all sorts of snide remarks. She said, "Geez. Watching you all run is giving me cramps!"

DSC09159.jpg

DSC09161.jpg

In Frontierland, Woody and Jesse were on the left, but their line was sooo long! I really had to start picking and choosing or I'd never finish the race!

DSC09162.jpg

Splash Mountain was so pretty this time of morning

DSC09163.jpg

Horace Horsecollar had no line!
DSC09165.jpg

Then we proceeded over the railroad tracks to the backstage area
DSC09166.jpg

Backstage they had characters set up all over!

Peter Pan

I know what you mean about the miles flying by! It just seemed to be over so quickly!

I love your Peter Pan and Bullseye pics! So cute! And that was so nice of the character attendant to take a picture of you in front of the mile marker!

K! Can't wait for the next installment!!!!!

Geppetto, Jiminy Cricket and Pinnochio
DSC09169.jpg

Smee and Captain Hook
DSC09168.jpg

At this point, my legs were starting to cramp up a little I knew I had better start running again soon or the last half of the half was going to be painful. So I snapped a quick picture of the Genie and proceeded out to the road.
DSC09170.jpg

Look at these girls...weren't they cute?!
DSC09171.jpg

Next we saw Reedy Creek Firefighters out on a big truck. I knew that once we passed the fire department, we were half way. Before we knew it, we passed
DSC09172.jpg

We came up to where all the golf courses were and the sun was shining. It was so pretty! I started to hear music and got to meet these cute ladies!
DSC09174.jpg

Next I saw a golf cart with a huge Mickey Head on the front, and then I saw Goofy! I got in the very short line to meet him. We sported our Goofy Ears
DSC09176.jpg

DSC09175.jpg

After that I had to make my ponytails in back into two buns, my hair and the humidity do not mix well with sweat. I had two big rats nests forming back there!

Mile 8
DSC09177.jpg

Just after Mile 8, someone was handing out Twizzlers and I took one. It was perfect for just the little bit of pick-me-up!

Not far up on the left, I met Meeko. I assume Pocahontas was out from time to time, but I did not see her.

Day 7: The Moment We've Been Waiting For...The Princess Half Marathon!!!

Continuing on the longest straight stretch ever...and there was a gatorade/water stop. I took a quick sip and grabbed a Gu gel. Yuck. That thing was disgusting but I managed to get a swallow down. I didn't mention the water stops before. Yes, there were water stops.

I also passed by this display with Belle and Gaston. Those two together! Funny that there was no Beast! I heard from other ladies who were there that he was rotating in and out though.
DSC09173.jpg

Mile 9!
DSC09179.jpg

Not long after Mile 9 and the heroes were out! Their line was really long though so I just snapped a quick picture. No offense to Prince Eric, but I think Flynn Rider is the cutest.

DSC09180.jpg

I'm running...I'm running...I'm running...I'm running...I'm running...listening to my iPod...then I see Princess Atta!

DSC09181.jpg

DSC09182.jpg

There was the coolest hot air balloon out!

DSC09184.jpg

So this straight stretch was basically going back down the way we'd come, only the other side of the road. So we were seeing the Monorail, ehem, Tronorail again
DSC09185.jpg

And the Pirates were still out! I love pirates, and didn't mind stopping at all.

And look at the Pirate to the farthest right. Anyone want to attempt a little caption for him?
DSC09187.jpg

For some reason I got the urge to ask Jack Sparrow if he liked sweaty women...he played right along and told me maybe my friends and I should come visit the Pearl after the race was over!

I dunno. I'm voting loin-cloth but that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the neck up. :goodnevil

Day 7: The Moment We've Been Waiting For...The Princess Half Marathon!!!

Yes! Finally, double digits!
DSC09188.jpg

After meeting the Pirates, I followed the crowd where the course took a right, past the jumbo tron that we'd watched Fairy Godmother on. And then we proceeded up the curving on ramp. Ugh. Brutal at this point in the race. But I did get to stop real quick and meet Sarg. He was barking out things like, "Now that's what I like to see! PT in the morning!" and "Way to go soldiers!"

DSC09189.jpg

I was pretty tired at this point, but still so energetic and upbeat. I was having so much fun! The bottoms of my feet were killing me though and I could feel my IT Bands tighter than ever. But over all, still feeling good.

Once you made it up the ramp and proceeded along the overpass, it was so cool because you could look back on the other runners, and the long route you'd traveled. This picture doesn't do it justice, but maybe you'll get the idea.
DSC09190.jpg

We could see EPCOT now and we were getting closer!
DSC09191.jpg

Mile 11?!? At this point I was having an inner battle...half of me couldn't wait to get it over with, but the other half didn't want my magical miles to end!

Either way, I kept on going and there was a downhill slope as we headed toward EPCOT. They had a few Disney Women out in a row.

First I met Elastigirl! Or Mrs. Incredible if you will. I said, "Awesome! A strong mom!!"

DSC09195.jpg

Next was Meg. She had a fun attitude. When I left she said "Yes, swim away little guppy." in reference to Ariel, etc.
DSC09196.jpg

Next up was Jane! She was really tall. (I'm 5'4" for a reference)

DSC09198.jpg

And last, but not least, Mulan

DSC09199.jpg

DSC09200.jpg

Mile 12! This thing is almost over?!?

Day 7: The Moment We've Been Waiting For...The Princess Half Marathon!!!

We entered EPCOT by passing the bus stops and then entering through a side entrance, then up past the right side of Spaceship Earth

DSC09203.jpg

As we continued on I saw Phinneas and Ferb! I had to stop and take a picture with my kids' favorite boys!

DSC09204.jpg

We proceeded out to Showcase Plaza where Duffy was waiting for a meet n greet. It was silly that I didn't meet him because there was no line but I just wanted to get to the end, and I don't have any emotional attachment to him. So I continued on

DSC09205.jpg

DSC09206.jpg

DSC09207.jpg

Then we ran way to the right of Spaceship earth and behind Guest Relations to where the Finish Line was supposed to be. It was a teaser, you didn't get to see it until you were right there.

But first we ran past this awesome choir!
DSC09209.jpg

A girl in front of me grabbed me to take her picture in front of the Mile 13 sign and took mine in return. I'm glad she did because otherwise I hadn't planned on stopping.

DSC09211.jpg

I briefly saw Mickey and Minnie in royal(not regal) attire and in a split second just headed for the finish line. And there it was! The beautiful finish!!

I did it and got my bling!
DSC09212.jpg

I proceeded straight to the medical tent to the right to get a cup of water and slather biofreeze all over my tender left ITB band.

The lines to get your official picture were really long and I hadn't seen Ben yet so I was a bit distracted with that. I guess there were princess meet n greets all over too, but I didn't see them.

I grabbed the muffin, luna bar, banana and powerade they had for us and wandered toward the parking lot. We maybe could have stayed longer but we knew we had to drive home so my main concern was finding Ben and the car. I basically had to pray because I knew my legs were not going to last walking all over the parking lot. I found it right away, and Ben was just putting his stuff in the car as I walked up.

We shared stories and got in the car, then headed back to our resort. Here's a link to my ASI Photos:
http://www.asiorders.com/view_event.asp?EVENTID=75441

We had to do a Chinese Fire Drill to finish getting packed before check out. We got in the car, dropped off our room keys and just like that had to start pulling away from Kissimmee.

One last picture of the magical day
DSC09214.jpg

As soon as we started to head West, it hit me and the water works just flowed. It had been a wonderful day, and it was so hard to leave. I had my sunglasses on and tried to cover it up a bit, but Ben's no idiot and he saw me. He said, "Awww, don't worry. We'll be back." For the next hour we dreamed about how cool it would be to buy a 2 bedroom condo down there and a cheap car so whenever we came to visit we'd have our home away from home. And we talked about Disney Vacation Club. A few hours into the trip, I started to feel nauseous. After a big race, I'm never hungry and all I ate after running was a banana. So we pulled into McDonald's and a 2 cheeseburger meal with Powerade made me feel better. I was a tad dehydrated And that was it! We were on our way back to Mobile, and myself back to Oregon the next day.

And I wore my medal the whole way home.

I absolutely LOVE your Ariel inspired ensemble!

Thanks!

I am fianlly all caught up... Devon had a basketball tournament so I pretty lived in a gym this whole weekend causing be to get behind on your TR.

Awesome update... My friend Jen was an extra in the Indiana Jones show when we went in December. She said it was a blast! :ROFLOL:

Oh and don't I know the horrors about forgeting an extra SD card for my camera. I made that mistake in 2009! Ending up paying over $40 for one at MK one night! I was seriously on the verge of tears handing over the cash for it!

I had never been to FW until our December trip when we went to hoop dee do. I have to say that place confusing the heck out of me, all the different internal buses. Geese if I ever stayed there I'd be lucky if I ever found my way out of the that place!

Yay!!! :sohappy: For starting the Princess 1/2 marathon portion of the trip! I been so waiting for this! Your outfit for the run was adorable. Very Ariel like!

Can't wait fo read more!

Thanks!! I hope you enjoy it!

Ack! You lucky, lucky lady. I have to admit, I'm a little jealous of this one...great picture! :D Oh, and LOVE the skirt.

Wow, those castle shots are awesome! Can't wait to read more!!

Thanks! I was happy to finally get some after not on the day we went there.

I know what you mean about the miles flying by! It just seemed to be over so quickly!

I love your Peter Pan and Bullseye pics! So cute! And that was so nice of the character attendant to take a picture of you in front of the mile marker!

It was the fastest 13.1 miles I've ever ran, and I ran it a full hour slower than my P.R.!

Oh wow! I've watched every video clip and poured over every pic! Your outfit is sweet! Love it! I'm so glad you were okay to let Ben run on while you stopped for your characters. I'm lovin' the pics. Mega-score on the royal mice AND Cindy-n-Charming! Wowzers! Go buy a lottery ticket!!!

Awww, I loved your report!! GREAT pics of Typhoon Lagoon!! I'm sorry your Magic Kingdom day didn't turn out the way you hoped, but now you have a great excuse to go back :).

If you saw a fairy with green/black spiral-type wings waiting in line for chip and dale, that was me! About 4 people in front of me is when Buzz switched out, so I got a Buzz picture instead. Those dead ladies were great! And I agree, Flynn was definitely the most handsome.

Final Thoughts and Pictures

I forgot to post the bling!

081-1.jpg

085-3.jpg

Final Thoughts...

Where to start?? Well the trip was awesome! I was so sad to leave. I have never felt so sad to leave before. I guess because before we lived close by and I always knew another trip wouldn't be far off. But this time, I just don't know. We live all the way across the nation and I'm sure if we take a trip somewhere warm and tropical it will be Hawaii or something like that. I'm just so thankful we got to go and I got to live out my dream of running a Disney Half Marathon. I really want to run the Disneyland Half in September and get that Coast to Coast medal! We'll see though, that is still up in the air!

New things I saw/did/met/ate:

It's Tough to be a Bug!
Pizzafari awesome hot sandwiches
Nemo the Musical
Safari Minnie
Jiko
Impressions de France
Le Cellier
Captain EO
Piña Colada @Typhoon Lagoon
Beauty and the Beast Stage Show
Hall of Presidents
Tronorail

The crowds and temps increased steadily while we were there. We enjoyed our adults-only trip, but learned that when we're with each other steadily, non-stop we kind of drive each other nuts! So we need to remember to feel free to do a few things throughout the trip solo as well. Never again will I do Magic Kingdom on the last day of our trip-that lesson was learned the hard way. Next trip it will be our first stop!

The Princess Half Marathon was an unforgettable experience. There are hardly words. I'm so thankful I got to go on this trip! And I already miss my WDW.

Thank you so much for reading! It's always so awesome to hear from someone who was so close to you!! I'll have to look for you in my pictures and see if I accidentaly got you in there!

Thanks and Wow! That's really crazy! Did you write/are you going to write a TR?

Well... I always feel like a thread killer, my writing is kind of boring, and I never get many responses! But I am going to try again! I'll post some pictures this time, maybe that will help. Going on to read about the marathon now....:)

Hey, loved reading your trip report!! My boyfriend and I have been talking about marriage and one of the things we want to do is go to WDW together before we start a family. It's so nice to see couples enjoying WDW sans kids!

I loved how photo-heavy the report was, btw!!

Next up was...the Magic Kingdom sign! I had really been looking forward to running under this!! Awesome!! Ben did stop briefly to get a picture for me

This picture is great! I mean really, how often does one get the chance to stop in front of the Magic Kingdom gates for a photo! Crossing under that archway was one of my favorite parts of the Princess Half because in the full marathon you actually have to go out around it.

I love this picture... and the commentary between you and Jack! But what in the world is Barbossa doing?! He looks like he belongs in a wax museum! Brett has been on the lookout for Barbossa in all our Disney races; I guess we just need to run another one! Your report definitely has me ready to sign up again.

I think one of my favorite pictures may be the one of you and Mrs. Incredible! Strong moms unite... I love it!

I didn't realize you were leaving right after the race?! How in the world did your legs manage being cramped up in the car for the ride home? You would've had to roll me outta that car.

So, I may have missed this somewhere, but how did Ben do for his first half? And was he bit by the bug in a way where he'll be signing up for more? I love that the two of you recognized the different ways you wanted to run the race and had no problems splitting up. This is something Brett and I have discussed doing the next time we run one.

Yes, please try again! I know I'd love to read it!

Thanks! Yes, I'm a photo-taking fool!

Yes, those pirates had TONS of makeup on!! Jack was definitely in character, he even sounded like Depp. I wondered about getting in the car too...we just took turns driving and stopped a few times to get out, walk around and stretch. My main problem was that I didn't eat soon enough after finishing and got nauseous.

Ben did well! He ran it in 2:26:something. He did really great!! He wasn't bitten per say, he HATES running. But he did thank me for encouraging him to the task. He feels so great to have accomplished a half marathon.

I don't think I mentioned my time either. I ended up with 3:08:something. I thought that was pretty good for how much I stopped to take pictures!

You know, Ben and I do a lot of things differently. We're like the characters on the Pixar short Night and Day. Somehow though, we mesh our two styles and have a beautiful time. And then like I mentioned before, we recognize where we just need a mini break from each other at the parks (like an hour to recharge). We found that the kids are quite a buffer, but when it was just us two...it was quite the adventure rediscovering each other. I mean that in a good (but at the same time realistic) way!
