It’s an analogy that comes “shockingly close” to how Disney management operates now…in many waysTrue but mostly by people that don't know what authoritarian means in reality.
Didn't Imagineering do that also. Hire some for projects, then adios them when no longer needed? They can hire temporary positions, use contractors, etc. to fill the gap.
Project hiring and freelancing is incredibly common across the themed entertainment design industry.Didn't Imagineering do that also. Hire some for projects, then adios them when no longer needed?
Freelancing I thought is a risky but lucrative profession not sure if there is another job lined up and waiting.Project hiring and freelancing is incredibly common across the themed entertainment design industry.
None of the jobs I'm aware of for LN have anything to do with the theme parks and can be done remote. And based on the project(s) they will need a lot of contractors as well as FTE too. This seems rather soon to be firing people who won't make the move and hiring new people to work in Lake Nona. What are the new hires going to do, sit on the grass among the mounds of dirt for the next year or so working on their laptops?
Freelancers often work multiple jobs at once. Working full time for a single entity starts to send you into some murky legal waters.Freelancing I thought is a risky but lucrative profession not sure if there is another job lined up and waiting.
Got it, looks like freelancing gives one more freedom to be their own boss in whatever they want to do and when the job is completed at Disney, just part ways and get off of the Disney payroll.Freelancers often work multiple jobs at once. I have to believe that if someone was deep into a current project and declined the (eventual) move, they'd at least be given the ability to see their project through to completion before stepping away. I highly doubt anyone was immediately let go upon choosing to stay, unless they were just hanging around waiting for something to do.This seems rather soon to be firing people who won't make the move and hiring new people to work in Lake Nona. This announcement came at an all-hands-on-deck meeting today. Some employees were already searching for homes and are understandably upset about the delay because they had already sold their California homes.
Just shocking ineptitude by the powers that be.
Step 1: get half the division to quit
Step 2: infuriate the other half
Step 3: ?
Step 4: profit
There’s almost no worse feeling than being unsettled.
Delaying this to 2026 but still doing it anyway is catastrophic to peoples lives.
Good heavens.
Imagineering has been operating on a project hire mode for years now. Universal Creative does the exact same thing. You hire for projects and at the end those slots go away.Didn't Imagineering do that also. Hire some for projects, then adios them when no longer needed?

No not yet, but I would not be surprised.
Such a great job, talk is Bob's contract is going to be renewed , had to have Board approval.Disney management has done an amazing job alienating both sides of every issue lately.
No one thinks reedy creek is the reason? I wouldn’t build a brand new campus until that’s resolved.
