Opinion on changing 1900 park fare characters

Totally agree with everyone's comments. I did not mean to come off too negative. My kids do not know those characters but that doesn't mean other people don't enjoy them. I would rather go somewhere I know my kids will recognize everyone. For the price of these meals I want them to embrace every character

Before we went on our trip, I "prepped" my kids. We watched tons of Disney movies - especially ones that pertained to characters or attractions we would see in the parks. We even watched Pete's Dragon - I had a proud Disney momma moment when my 3yo daughter recognized Elliot in the MSEP!

My SIL had gone with her young family to Disney before we had gone and they knew nothing about the characters. When they were showing me pictures of their trip, my niece didn't know the names of many characters they met. (Merieda was "an Irish girl"; Eyeore was "the donkey"; Belle and Aurora were "Beauty and Sleeping Beauty" ; Chip and Dale were somehow both "Alvin"

We have had dinner at 1900 Park Fare on 3 separate visits, with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, and the 2 'sisty uglers', Drizella and Anastasia. Is Cinderella no longer there?

cinderella no longer makes appearances at dinner... neither does the fairy godmother as far as i know.

The other thing to consider is all the characters are British based to fit in with the theme of the restaurant. Even with the cockerney accents ;)
"The term Cockney ;) has several distinct geographical, social, and linguistic associations. Originally a pejorative applied to all city-dwellers, it was eventually restricted to Londoners and particularly to the "Bow-bell Cockneys": those born within earshot of Bow Bells, the bells of St Mary-le-Bow in east London's Cheapside district. More recently, it is variously used to refer to those in London's East End, or to all working-class Londoners generally".

We love 1900 Park Fare. We have gone to breakfast with Mary, Alice, and The Madhatter. I seem to remember in the 90s that we also dined with Bert and a few others for breakfast. My favorite dinner at 1900 Park Fare was when they did the Villains Dinner.

This restaurant is always available. Maybe if they had some relevant characters. What kids these days even know who Mary poppins, Alice and the mad hatter are? I guess it sort of makes sense with the theme of the hotel but change it up some

Uh, ever hear of a little movie called "Saving Mr. Banks"? Was nominated for a couple of Oscars...

Not everything released by Disney last year was Frozen.

But yet she is still relevent! lol I was just trying to make the point of it doesn't matter if the characters are from "older" movies, they're all still VERY recognizable.

Snow does look good for 76! ;)

I hope I look as good as she does at that age and have a Prince Charming. :)

That someone would EVEN suggest to kick Mary to the curb, just because they think she isn't relevant is beyond me. When' s the LAST time Mickey made an appearance in a theatrical movie (and not a short before/after a Marvel flick)? Given that criteria, would you suggest Mickey be removed from his M&G? It's not ALL about Frozen you know....

"I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse."

BTW, many consider Mary Poppins Walt's finest film...and this year IS the 40th anniversary. And I shall be proudly wearing my 40th anniversary t-shirt to dine with Mary later this year.

Ummm, no.

Cinderella still appears at dinner. The Fairy Godmother was never a regularly appearing character dinner character there, and usually only appears now when Lady Tremaine is unavailable.

i haven't seen cinderella there the last three times i've dined there for dinner. the fairy godmother used to be in the lobby for photos but hasn't been in some time. of course, all characters are subject to change so i guess it's *possible* that cinderella just happened to be subject to change the three times i dined there.

Not sure about the whole "restaurant is always available" comment. While it doesn't book up as quickly as Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's, it does book solid and requires some stalking if you decide you want an ADR a few months out.

As for the characters, if anything...I'd like to see them take out Pooh & Tigger (or maybe it's Eeyore now) and offer characters not seen at any other meal right now. I think Alice, Mad Hatter and Mary Poppins are perfect. If anything, I'd add Bert and the White Rabbit in their place to balance things out.

As for the kids not knowing the characters...that all comes from exposure. My girls were 2 and 4 the first time they dined there and they knew exactly who everyone was. In fact, we've had some of our best character interactions at this breakfast. On our 2nd visit, we got a Mary Poppins who sang songs from the movie with my girls and on visit 1, we had an Alice who spoke entirely in the writing style of Lewis Carroll. And if you get really lucky, you get a Hatter that is totally MAD! :)

We are doing our character dining for my daughter's birthday here since CRT is closed for refurbishment next year so I am glad that you and your daughters have enjoyed your meals at this restaurant. Neither of us have ever interacted with Mary, so we are excited about eating here. I agree, it would be awesome if both Mary and Bert appeared and sang tunes from the movie.
