Opening WDW with Social Distancing

While WDW is better off than most, theme parks don’t have much meat on the bone. I don’t think opening up under social distancing guidelines would be a profitable idea. And imagine the frustration and strained relations when certain cast are paid and many are still furloughed. Logically, employing a few people is better than 0, but I can’t imagine the cast members on the wrong end of the deal are going to see it that way.

I’m having a hard time equating how they’re going to sell this at the prices they want with some type of requirement of “make the best of it” attitude that they think will be embraced.

People have complained about every detail for decades as is...and they could for the first time have real crowd control issues due to lack of supply.

The prices are a big deal...people aren’t really considering this. It’s a burden for a large number of travelers even in good times that make them try to beat the hell out of every minute while they’re there.

What’s it gonna be like when everyone has PCSD?

Many realize that a Disney vacation doesn't come cheap, and even though many have always had the "make the best of it" attitude that you mention, I think it's reasonable to expect people will be more aware about it's financial value and worth from now on, or at least during the time it'll take for the economy to recover from this crisis.

From that premise...then in order for this to work those trips would need to be HEAVILY discounted...

Taking bets on that happening.

This is the greatest history dork joke in the history of the internet. 😂

Im really not expecting any discount at all or barely any even for next year , it would really surprise me if it happened.
I don’t believe there will be any...which brings me back to a feedback loop.

Disney will expect too much of its customers and vice versa...

It’s interesting. I’m expecting a lot of early feedback of “rip-off” if there are severe limits of capacity or locations closed.

I’ve seen that fish before.

People will pay EXTRA to be in the park at half capacity. It's a great trip when you don't have to wait more then 15 minutes to get on any ride.
Lol...I don’t think you’re following what I’m saying

Who said anything about half parks? And even if That’s the case...that doesn’t mean they’re be 8 people standing at the platform to the mine train saying “how many?...row 4...how many?...row 7”

I think you want the old parks at half attendance. The shutdown crowd with no consideration for the reason of the shutdown.

Are you saying that if they open the parks that only some of the rides will be open? I don't think that is what they meant with 50% capacity. It means half of the attendance. Just like restaurants and stores letting in only half of the maximum seating, not serving half of the food. I can see them limiting the opening hours over cutting rides. The less rides and attractions that are open, the more people that will be lining up for the ones that are. If they truly want to spread the people out, you open all of the rides and shows because they are going to have have less people on the attraction at one time. I can't see them opening up with a bunch of attractions closed.

1. We don’t know.
2. It’s a good chance...

You don’t Honestly think Disney has any interest in bringing full staff back - they can’t, actually - and run normal with half the revenue potential, do you?

Why bother?

Not only that...ride queues can’t run the same...neither can restaurants...can’t do shows really...or parades...or fireworks

It’s there to make money...full cost at half the take makes no sense.

Did you actually think the plan is to make it so you can walk on rides with no waits? What’s in it for them?

Running a half empty park is still better then being closed, especially if Universal opens up. Half capacity is still around 50,000 people for MK. That is still a ton of people. When we started going almost 3 decades ago, we went during the slow time and the parks where practically dead. No ride wait time was over 15 minutes and most where walk on. They didn't say "let's close down between Labor day and Thanksgiving because no one is here". If they plan on being open, then most things should be up and running. Because having unhappy guest going on social media telling others to stay away because too many rides are down, is worse then staying closed.
