Online Check-In Service enables Guests to simplify their arrival by allowing them to go online and provide information related to their upcoming stay. On a Guest’s scheduled arrival date, since information will have been provided previously online by the Guest, they may experience a streamlined check-in at Walt Disney World owned & operated Resort hotels.

A welcome folder with their Key to the World Card will be waiting at a designated Online Check-In Service area in the resort hotel lobby. Guests will need to present valid photo ID to pick up the folder and complete check-in.

Guests may begin accessing Online Check-In Service 10 days prior to arrival and up to and including their scheduled arrival date. Disney Cruise Vacations guests may begin using the service 45 days prior to arrival. Web site addresses for Online Check-In Service will vary based on the original method of booking.

When you use the Online Check-In Service you will be asked to provide a credit card for incidental charges, an estimated arrival & departure time, and an on-site (mobile) phone number. You will also be asked to provide or verify all Guest names, room requests (note: room requests are subject to availability), and you’re your home address.

Note, if you have already completed Online Check-In Service and then made any modification to your reservation, you will need to go back to Online Check-In Service website to update your information to ensure no delays upon arrival.

If you have questions related to booked travel dates, room categories, party mix, or resort specific questions, please contact your original booking agent. For example, if you booked through a travel agent, please contact your travel agent. If you booked directly through the Disney Reservation Center, please contact the Disney Reservation Center.

So if you do the online check in, then you don't do any type of check in at the resort? If that's the case, I'll skip the online check in. I always have a few questions, even at the old familiar resorts. But this will be our first trip at Yacht Club, so I know I will have more than a few questions!

I have already purchased my park ticket and want to have it added onto my room key. Do you think it would be better if I just checked-in when I arrive at the resort or should I try the online check-in?

Whether you do online check-in and wait in the (presumably) short line to pick up your packet of info, or skip online check-in and wait in the regular check-in line, you'll have to visit the Lobby Concierge desk afterward to do that. So it really doesn't affect your decision.

As shown in JP's original post, there will be a specific area to go pick up your folder in the lobby of your hotel. This area would have to have a CM available, as they need to check ID's and hand out the folders. I'm sure any questions you may have would be answered by this CM just as they would at the regular check in counter.

DVC On-line Checkin

Has anyone been able to complete an on-line check-in for a DVC reservation? I understand it is available today at www.dvcmember.com, but haven't been able to find the link to on-line check-in.

Member Services said they weren't sure, but thought it might be in the My Vacations pane, but it's not there for me. I am more than 10 days out for my vacation, so perhaps it doesn't show until one is in the 10 day window??? Just wondering if someone has been able to use it for a DVC reservation, and can confirm where exactly the link is on the dvcmember web site.

Oh - DVC Member Services did confirm that there are now two queues (lines) for check-in at the resorts. One line is the traditional line we all know from past visits, which is for those that did _not_ use the on-line check-in. The second, separate line, is exclusively for those that _did_ use the on-line check-in service. So presumably those in the on-line check-in queue will not have to be asked as many questions (those that they answered on-line) and should get the check-in completed quicker (than those who did not check-in on-line.)

>> I'm curious how this will work for guests with AP discounts. Do they have to provide their pass or voucher number online, or show it to a CM at the hotel? Or are they even eligible to use online check in?

I don't understand. What difference would it make if you had AP's, other than the fact that park tickets would not be on your room key because they would be physically separate plastic cards?

I just got off the phone with DVC Member Services, and they confirmed that on-line check-in is certainly available for AP holders. The only distinction they made was with the tickets (as I mentioned above.)

hey there i am just saying/asking what impact will the ONLINE CHECKIN have on cast member jobs in the world? rumour has it that WDW is about to announce layoffs and though it has been said these will layoffs will not effect or be noticed by guests i just think it is wrong at this time to introduce something that could have a negative impact on cast members.

so please PLEASE wait in the lines and REFUSE to use the online checkin and TELL WDW that you will not use it because today in AMERICA a job has meaning to you.

thank you;)
How will this affect someones job?

If you read the process you still have to have someone check you in. It just speeds up the process and redueces the lines at check-in. At most it will have one less CM at the desk. Someone will still be there to give you your keys and resort map etc...

Hi there, After a number of times of trying to use this online check in as a guest, one of our agents contacted Disney. The service is not yet operational for guests who have booked through a travel agent, contrary to what was told to me yesterday. However I was able to go into a client's reservation within the Travel Agents area of the site and was able to register their travel party in on their behalf. Make sure that your agent sends you the letter that you must sign and present to the front desk when you arrive to pick up your package and your room keys. Sorry for the confusion!! Belle

NOOOOOO don't do it

Sweet! Definitely will do this as I get ready for the June-July trip I just booked yesterday

please help preserve jobs here in America. i have worked in the IT field for 40 years now and it has been a god send in many ways but here is an example of an employer using IT and the web to undercut american jobs.

EVERYONE PLEASE... resist using the online checking and other features that may eliminate jobs. you know as well as i the economic circumstances/realities of today and if each of us does just something small that will help preserve a job here then we have a civic duty to do so...

okay enough with the lecture.... i too was excited about the feature being offered, the online checkins and eventually the online dinning reservations, and i would love to use them but lets wait until things become stabized with the job situations.

I'm going to go ahead and use online check-in. Call me cold, but I am in favor of new services that improve the guest experience, even if it means a job is removed, and I doubt anyone will be laid off anyway--people are constantly leaving the company, and they simply won't replace them. Keeping employees for the sake of keeping them when they are not truly needed is one of the reasons we are in the mess we are in now--and why Disney will lay off hundreds of executives.

Yeeeessss, I will use it. I look at this being the same as express checkout, convenient for me and one less line I have to deal with while on vacation. Face it, we all stand in enough lines at Disney so the company is smart to whittle those down where they can and optimize the experience for guests. If I don't like it, or have trouble with it, I'm sure there will be a clerk nearby to take over or assist.

I also believe I'm doing my part to preserve jobs by booking a two-week vacation at a time when the economy desperately needs people to be out there spending money. Given that my own company has been shedding jobs and downsizing in other areas, I could just stay at home. I choose to stimulate the economy. :D

not cold but foolish

remember your quite when/if you have a problem with checking or some other service and you need to talk to a HUMAN. technology is awesome as long as it enhances life but when companies use it to eliminate jobs or ship jobs overseas so that when you need to reconcile a banking transaction and you speak to someone from across the world with difficulty understanding each other. i think you may be underestimating the impact that this will have on positions in disney but if you want an example look at the airline industry and see the effect that online reseverations and checkins have had on jobs. so much so that if you want to speak with a REAL person to make/change your reservation you have to PAY MORE. in the end, we the public YES THE GUESTS will eventually pay for it in reduced services and higher costs. so before you are cold watch what disney does with layoffs in the next few days/week or so and then tell me losing a job is worth it... funny but i think you might have a differing opinion on the losing the job is worth it thought if it was your job or someone in your immediate family.

thank you for hearing me out. i am NOT flaming you and i do understand your feelings; and as i said i too was excited about the system until i realized its negative impacts during this current crisis. thanks again and truly enjoy your stay there because i know i will when i return in june.

That isn't even close to being true. The recession we are in has many factors...narrowing it to one cause would be speculative at best...but employing too many people isn't one of them.

As for this new service replacing employees...only time will tell. Sometimes technology requires more people and money in the long run. If online check-in really takes off they will still need those CMs...you still have to get your room key from one. It's only meant to cut down on the amount of time you spend in line. It isn't like those self checkout lines at the store.
