Online Check-In Service enables Guests to simplify their arrival by allowing them to go online and provide information related to their upcoming stay. On a Guest’s scheduled arrival date, since information will have been provided previously online by the Guest, they may experience a streamlined check-in at Walt Disney World owned & operated Resort hotels.

A welcome folder with their Key to the World Card will be waiting at a designated Online Check-In Service area in the resort hotel lobby. Guests will need to present valid photo ID to pick up the folder and complete check-in.

Guests may begin accessing Online Check-In Service 10 days prior to arrival and up to and including their scheduled arrival date. Disney Cruise Vacations guests may begin using the service 45 days prior to arrival. Web site addresses for Online Check-In Service will vary based on the original method of booking.

When you use the Online Check-In Service you will be asked to provide a credit card for incidental charges, an estimated arrival & departure time, and an on-site (mobile) phone number. You will also be asked to provide or verify all Guest names, room requests (note: room requests are subject to availability), and you’re your home address.

Note, if you have already completed Online Check-In Service and then made any modification to your reservation, you will need to go back to Online Check-In Service website to update your information to ensure no delays upon arrival.

If you have questions related to booked travel dates, room categories, party mix, or resort specific questions, please contact your original booking agent. For example, if you booked through a travel agent, please contact your travel agent. If you booked directly through the Disney Reservation Center, please contact the Disney Reservation Center.

It's even possible that this new system is creating jobs - prior to this system, while you were standing there waiting, the CM had to gather and prepare all the materials that went into the folder that they handed you at check in, creating room keys, etc.

Now it sounds like that these packets are pre-prepared and waiting for those guests that have used the online check in.

Who is preparing those packets ahead of time?

For me it's not even so much about the job issue. I haven't waited very long at any resort..value or mods for check-in. Plus my kids love going straight to the kid's area while mom and dad check-in. It's all part of the 'on site, wdw resort' feel, vs. checking in to the Embassy Suites. It just feels more like WDW this way.

Personal preference, obviously. I drive to WDW and, after 12 hours on the road, I really, really, really don't want to stand in a long line to check-in. I get my "I'm here!" feeling when I drive on to WDW property off Western Way.

Awesome. It's cool to see things make steps towards more efficiency. I just hope it works as they believe it will.

I don't think we'll have to worry about staff downsizing as a result of online check-in anytime soon. Not only did regular check-in have a long line with lots of CMs ready and available...they needed three people to check me in! First my folder wasn't ready, the computer didn't record any of my information and it wouldn't let them enter or change anything on my reservation. It took me 20 minutes! Even if it had only taken me a minute...there still seemd to be several CMs working on folders or helping with breaks and so on.

Well, I tried it and I liked it...

Submitted our online check-in information they day before we left home.

Rolled into Port Orleans Riverside around 8:00pm. There were about 10 people waiting in line for the traditional check in, handled by 3 CMs. No-one in the online registration line, being handled by 1 CM.

Approached the counter, showed my ID, signed a couple things, and I had my packet and key cards before the next person in the traditional line stepped up to the counter.

It's like a Fastpass for the resorts... :)

I baically had the same experience except, my room was not ready. They gave me a card with a phone to to call and I aquired my room number after 3pm. I also was getting a $200 gift card with my package, this did not arrive in my "welcome package" I had to go back and ask for it.

You're so lucky. When I did it a few weeks ago it took 20 minutes...and I was the only one in line! They didn't have anything ready for me and then the computer didn't want to cooperate. Hopefully when I go in September it will be as smooth as your experience!
