How soon can you do the online check-in? We've paid for a preferred room at CBR; should we online check in or wait until we get there - we're hoping for a good room.

You can do online check in 10 days before your arrival.
The only thing it does is make sure your welcome packet is ready when you arrive, rather than having the CM make your info while you wait at the desk.

Last trip our resort also had a separate line for check-in, which should make things a little quicker.

Depends on if the party in front of you has a lot of questions. When I checked into the WL a few weeks ago, there was only me then a couple in front of me in the online check-in line, and no one in the regular check-in line. The couple in front of me had a billion questions (which is fine, I was enjoying taking the lobby in) and one of the regular check-in CMs called me over, and I was on my way to my room in about 2 minutes. If she hadn't done that, it would have taken me a LOT longer!

is the preferred room option really worth the $300? we called a week before our arrival and requested where we'd like our room and we got it no problem without spending the extra money. probably depends on what time of year you go and stuff like that but we're staying at CS next year and I just had my travel agent take off the preferred room option, hope we don't get stuck way back in the rancheros.
