Trip Report One way or Another..........

It has been quite a few years since I've been to Disney for a full week. I've been there for a day here, two days there but I really missed a full week at Disney. When your first born says lets go to Disney, you make it happen. We just returned, and the best way for me to process getting back to regular life is to do a trip report, so here we go.

Me and Em
October 19-25th

Our flight was leaving at 7:00 am, and it made for a very early morning since we had a two hour drive to the airport. We got on the road at 3:30 and we landed at MCO around 9:30 am. We got an Uber, and Oster was great. He even slowed down so I could get this most coveted picture.

2.jpg

I let Em pick a lot of the details for this trip, one being the mistake of picking our resort. I was willing to pay for a moderate, but she really wanted to stay at POP. sigh~, what can I do..... She loves it

We requested the 60's or 70's building and got a room in the 70's. Our room was ready when we arrived around 10:30 am. Our room was on the first floor and faced an inner courtyard. Mostly quiet, except we could hear the room above us when they were getting ready in the morning or returning at night. They weren't rude or being overly loud. It's what you pay for I guess.

We unpacked and decided we'd rather hop on the skyliner and find lunch rather than go to Typhoon Lagoon. We got off at the Caribbean resort. Their Cuban sandwich wasn't too bad. I'd get it again. We then stopped at Riviera to see the murals in person and eat the "best" cookie at Disney.

I have to say, I didn't think the Riviera Signature cookie was the best cookie on property. I would give it a C.

Em has a fear of birds. This gets mentioned in all of my reports since there are birds everywhere at Disney. Luckily for her, this bird was quite a distance from us, but she made sure to point it out and comment about what it was doing. Then, to our horror, it snatched a little lizard for lunch.

Our early morning was catching up with us so we decided to go back to the room and take a break before heading to Disney Spring for the evening.

I mean is it just me or as you get older do you choke on water, air, or saliva out of nowhere.

No, it’s not just you…!!! I turned 63 in October and it’s been goin’ on for me for about a coupla’ years now. It’s like “What the hell…?!?!?! Where did that friggin’ come from…?!?!?!” :bored:🤪:hilarious:
I’ve termed it LOES…Lazy Old Esophagus Syndrome…!!!!! 😅😉:)

Wow what a fabulous trip report. My sister C said the school bread was her favourite at Epcot. Your outfits were amazing and I am so jealous that you are able to get back so often. We did day excursions to DLP a few times when we were younger for a Disney fix and enjoyed it even though we were only there for five hours.

You may find if you go back to DLP a bit more that it grows on you and it is no longer a « fix » for in between WDW trips.

Whenever it happens, I feel like the person is staring at me thinking, "what is wrong with you?" I'm just as bewildered as they are. Thanks for following along!

I can't believe that in all the times I've been to EPCOT, I've never gotten it. It is going to be a must every trip now!. Thank you for reading, and I hope you and C get back to DLP. I'd love to hear about it!

Wow! What a way to end a report; dancing and eating cake in EPCOT dressed as Donald Duck! Nice job on the bounce back and thanks for the tip at MCO.

Great report @Zipadeelady !
Hahahaha. I couldn't decide whether to laugh or love your comment. It was a great way to end our trip!

I hope you'll be heading back soon. I think we all need to see more Fractal pictures.

Yep, that, and it’s just plain annoying…!!! :bored:😉
If you live long enough, some crazy things can start happening to your body…and mind…!!!!! 🤪:hilarious:
I actually just kinda’ popped into your report yesterday, only to see that it’s over, but now I feel the need to go back and read it all…!!! 😉:)

All refreshed and ready to walk around Disney Springs.

I was stopped many times at the beginning of our trip at security. I after the third time I remembered a video I saw about hard sunglass cases. If it has metal hinges, it'll flag you. After the third time, I took them out of my bag. Never got stopped at security after that.

We had a reservation to make a lego mini fig at the Lego store. Em's husband loves legos, and I wanted to make one of him to put in his stocking for Christmas. It was $11.99, and choices were slimmer than I thought they would be. It was something new for us to do, so I'm still glad we did it. We call him Noodle. The back of his shirt has his name on it.

We stopped by World of Disney to look around, and Emily wanted to go into Gideon's, but being a Sunday night, Disney Springs was pretty busy, so we opted to try again on Wednesday. We were getting hungry, and Emily has fond memories of Rainforest Cafe... I can't make this stuff up. We headed to Lava Lounge and were seated right away. These were our views, so maybe it isn't too bad. We had a friendly Disney duck that hung out with us most of the time. We ordered the mozzarella flatbread with extra arugula and a couple of drinks. I will not say anything bad about the Lava Lounge again. Both drinks and flatbread were very good.

I ordered the Panama Punch, the drink on the left. It was delicious, and I admit I got a little tipsy. We slowly walked back to the buses. We were just soaking in the atmosphere while receiving texts from our husbands saying how cold the Midwest had gotten overnight. The furnace at home has officially been turned on and at that moment I was so thankful to be in the 75 degree weather in Florida.

Looks like an Orange Bird wrap on that bus in your first pic…!!! :)

Gotta’ love Disney ducks, and I’ve got a few pics of them myself…!!! 🦆

How was the humidity along with that 75 degrees…?
It’s 86F here right now with 45% humidididididity. 😉
We’ve actually had the heat on here for a bit when we’ve gotten into the low 40’s a few times in the morning.
But, then it goes right back up to tropical island temps during the day…somehow, we did not get the memo about our winter being skipped this year…?!!!!! 🤔 🤷‍♂️🏝️:hilarious:

I meant to mention at the beginning of the report that when we booked our package, Disney had a few different deals going on at the same time. We chose the free quick service dining with park hoppers and the free beverage mug. I know some people say the room only discount is cheaper in the long run, but we ran the numbers, more than once, and for us, this package made sense. Our package started on Monday, the 20th, and we decided to come in a day early, so I booked a room with POP for the previous night. We were able to stay in the same room and no moving was needed. We got each got two quick service meals with an alcoholic beverage if available at the location we chose, and a snack each day.

Disney Bounding!! - I had no idea what this was until Em suggested it. I'm not a "showy" type of person and was hesitant, but Em was excited, and the more we talked about it, the more excited I got. They weren't very elaborate outfits but I still thought we'd stick out. The truth is, we hardly saw very many people bounding, and we didn't end up sticking out at all, but still received many compliments from guests and CM's. I'd definitely do it again. It added to the fun! The one bad thing is, and I'm regretting it so much now is we never got a picture together each day in our Bounding outfits

Now.... Whooo Hooo!

Monday October 20 - our first park day is here!

This was definitely my favorite day of the trip, and can you guess what our first park was @Tuvalu ! Animal Kingdom! Not so much because we wanted it that way, but because for the week we are at Disney, there are two MNSSHP party nights and one private event night. Plus, we had a rest day scheduled for Wednesday. That means that our only night at MK is Monday. We figured since they were open 9 am - 10 pm that MK would be a busy day, so Ak in the morning and MK in the evening it is! I bought Single LL for Flight of Passage Single LL for Tron, and the Multi LL's for MK later that evening. This strategy worked out perfectly for us, it was expensive but it made for a great day.

Em is Lightning McQueen today - KA CHOW! - I said that a lot to her. Her earing are big lightning bolts!

The next item on our agenda was a snack and a show! In the past I have been not so kind about the popcorn of Disney, but this time it was delicious.
View attachment 890162

Our first show is by far the best show in my opinion!

View attachment 890163

We passed many CM's in line while eating our popcorn and I looked for signs about no food or drink in the theater but didn't see any, so we proceeded with the crowd..... Until after we were seated an Usher CM let us know there was NO eating in the theater! This is where our popcorn stayed until the end of the show. We didn't sneak even one bite.

A few reasons this is the best show!

Yes indeed, FotLK is the best show, these days…!!! :)
When we first went to AK in July of ‘01, Tarzan Rocks was a show we really enjoyed, and then, of course, Nemo in the same (now enclosed) theater, but FotLK is the best…!!! :)

Once we got back to the room we both actually fell asleep, and at 4:00 we got freshened up and waited only a few minutes for a bus to MK. But first....... I must show you our room window. At the last minute, I decided to buy festive window clings. I saw Walmart had Mickey Mouse Halloween ones for only $1.99! When we arrived and were unpacking, Em put them up. And friends, this is why you don't spend just $1.99 on your window decorations. We left them up all week.

There is nothing like tapping into a park, hearing a ding and the circle turning green. 🥰

View attachment 890355

You can buy these wreaths in the park for the low price of $75.99. Now, some may say that it is very expensive, but honestly, if you go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels, you're going to pay half of that for just a plain wreath then you have to buy more stuff to add to it, and this one has a pumpkin Mickey, so is it really that expensive?

As we came out of the tunnel the Flag Retreat was starting. I like to consider myself patriotic, and Em asked right away if I wanted to watch. Of course I did!

Sigh~

Our first fast pass I got for the evening was Pirates

We had a bit of time for our next LL was to expire and I had a great idea.

Em was not as excited.

Our weather was perfect all week. It was warm but never hot and I didn't notice any humidity! It was perfect! Not even a drop of rain!

I'm not sure if I will ever put a show higher on my list that FotLK. I never got to see Tarzan Rocks. Our first family trip was 2006.

Kinda. 😉
Vultures do that to warm up in the sun and dry any wet or damp feathers.
And, I didn’t learn that on KS, we just have a lot of vultures here in Texas…!!! :)

(Go ahead anybody, somebody has to crack a joke…!!!!! :cautious::hilarious:)
I seriously did not know that about vultures!

Sure..... 😆

“This is Halloween, this is Halloween …!!!”:hilarious:😉

I always stop at the flag retreats, or whenever the allegiance is played. You should show respect no matter your beliefs... IMO
